I have had a problem with ADT for over two years. I purchased a house security system for my mother-in-law and we could never get it to work from the day. We received everything in the mail. Customer service tried a few times over a few days and was not successful. It seemed like the base of the security system was not working properly, I decided to bring the security system to my house in Las Vegas Nevada to see if I could get it to work here since I already had a working system from protection one, which is now ADT. Upon hooking up the system and calling customer support to activate the system they cannot get it to work either and this went on for a few weeks and a few months and now we are coming up on three years. I have continued to pay my monthly subscription charge of approximately $50 per month And the system has never worked. I have called numerous times to try and get my system to work without success. ADT he even offered to give me a brand new base system since they have a new one now, but I would have to start my three year contract all over again I decided not to do that because I've been paying them for almost 3 years now and my contract is almost up and the system has never worked once I would like for ADT to compensate me something for my faithfulness of paying monthly, and not having any type of service at all for almost 3 years. This has not been resolved for almost 3 years and I need answers. ADT has failed to get my unit to work and it is offered many times that they will resolve it over the phone and they have not ever come through on their promise. I have contacted them over the phone and by email many many times over the past couple years with no resolve. I am asking the Better Business Bureau to step in and try to get this resolved. My mom called the ADT customer service number to have them help us with our smoke detector/carbon monoxide issue. She was helping her out and when it came to asking for a technician to come down to service our alarm system, this all started before 9:00 AM, the representative stated they could not send a technician today but tomorrow. Like many of the complaints, I'm having the same problem getting my refund. Been with ADT for over 7 years. Finally decide to cancel. Called in early June to cancel and thought that was done. They charged me for July. Called ADT again, the agent said it was a mistake and my account will get cancelled this time. Now it's August and I am charged again. This is a company that deserves 0 Stars!!!!! Years ago I left this company due to a lack of monitoring. I periodically test my system to make sure i'm being monitored. Getting what I pay for. Routinely this company wouldn't come over the intercom, call, or text to see if everything was okay. I left them with zero regrets. Today I decided to give them another shot for my mother in laws apartment. After playing the press the number game for a new system install I was put on hold for 10 plus minutes. What company puts new customers on hold? Guess they don't want business? Finally a Julian answers. After I tell him i'm looking for a quote he tells me he wants to take some info, then determine if I am going to be sent to another individual to receive a quote, or be sent over to the install department? I asked why he isn't able to provide a quote? He stated he was not able to. I then asked why he answered just to put me back on hold, and his reply was to take my info basically "very sarcastically". ADT screwed my account up so badly after it was installed that they do not even have my contract on file. I have the original contract signed on my kitchen counter in my files at home. The contract shows they owe me just over $130 yet they will not make good on it. I cancelled my contract and told them to challenge me in court with no contract. Had ADT services on 19th, the technician is very knowledgeable with his job. I ended up with $59.99 ADT- Pulse. However, 21st night, checked my billing statement, ADT charged me 3 different bills, Jan18th,Jan 19 and Jan 20th (1,1.5 (Jan &Feb. monthly fee. 2, ADT motion, siren & shocks. 3,installtion fee). I took all the prices when technician recommended me all the services (asked him write down each price on the paper). Found the price is different than the ADT charges me...called Anthony first, then transfer to the account manager-Stephanie, she right away told me keep the systems and refund my systems fees ($452.50). Honestly, I was ready for cancelling the service after read all the ADT reviews. But after spoke with account manager-Stephanie, and she immediately told me refund the price ($452.50)..I definitely keep it. Liars and cheats. I was a customer for 10 plus years with this company. Every year my bill would go up but I never got anything more for it. Then along come the competitors with new systems at a fraction of the cost for monitoring. I called to cancel my service when I purchased a Ring alarm. At that time I told them I wanted my service canceled as of the following month. They told me not a problem, that I was not under contract, but then a month later I get a bill in the mail for not just one month but 2. So I called and they again lied and said that there was a 30 day cancelation period and that I was told that. Um...no I was not. The other thing I was lied to about was a supposed "ordinance" that justified the $40 a month they were trying to charge me. Upon speaking to the local police I find out this indeed was a lie. I am being ROBBED by ADT. Deceptive and fraudulent practices. If you make any CHANGE to your service, it enters you into a NEW CONTRACT. My 3 yr contract ended in 2019. In March 2021, I called ADT to discontinue my service but the agent asked if I would like to continue the fire alarm service for $29.99 monthly. I said OK. At no time was I informed that I would be entering into a new contract. I paid $73.83 monthly by auto deduction for five years after paying off $3,000.00 installation charges. I did not want another contract with ADT. The home I rent has been sold and I must vacate the property. Today, 6/21/21, ADT told me that I must continue monthly payments of $29.99 till contract end or one bill for the remaining 9 months. I have no home to transfer the service to. These thief's don't only take your stuff but they take most importantly your piece of mind. So, because I didn't want to break my lease I ended up calling ADT (I regretted) it has been up and down... they make you sign everything fast without any explanation. Surprise we charge the bill one month in advance!!! Surprise!!! Oh you are with defenders that's a third party if you need to move or have an issue it is them who you need to talk to. My biggest problem was getting a fee for moving services since you have sign a contract....WELLLLLL SURPRISE THEY NEVER MENTIONED THIS DETAIL. I called (15 times it's an understatement)about moving and canceling services in January they didn't come until June to the new address. Not to mention that the contract instead of just being transferred they cancel it and start a new one! A-N-O-T-H-E-R SURPRISE!!! They didn't service me for what.... almost 5 months and they are harassing me everyday about 15 times a day to pay them. I have explained what happened time and time again with no understanding. At this I don't know what language to explain it with anymore.... *sigh* OH !!! and finally got the services turned on my new place because I didn't want them to report it to my credit as a collection. Alarm went off in my home as I was out of town. ADT reportedly sent out an unarmed security guard FIVE HOURS AFTER I was broken into...Obviously I found out that this security system is absolutely useless to me and therefore stopped payment...it is still on my credit report. Update: ADT did reach out to me and refunded the payment. I give them credit for trying to resolve the situation once it got past the regular customer service rep. I guess the lesson is to ask for a supervisor! Got screwed by ADT. Switched over to another company but still got billed by ADT and they won't refund the payment. Being charged for services not rendered even though their service was disconnected 5 days prior to the auto payment. They didn't even realize their system wasn't hooked up anymore! We've had ADT for 4 years at our old house and was absolutely satisfied with the system and would have not gone anywhere else. We just recently moved to a new house and it has a pre-wired ADT system with 2 old keypad panels and all the windows sensors for ADT. Aaron a ADT sales rep came by to give us a quote for our new home and long story short we agreed on everything thing we had at our old house and added a couple more items (since the new home is larger than the previous) we agreed and moved forward with a new contract. The day of the install, the installation tech, Shawn came and was very professional and started to do his thing and when I ask if he was going to update the control panel downstairs he said if he needed to he would but it would be the same control panel (mind you this is the older version keypad which chimes when a door is opened and you need to look at the screen for the designated number and match to a legend to find out which window or door was opened!). In our previous house we purchased the "basic" current model keypad which is a little larger and when a door or window is opened it announced the specific door or window opened for example "front door opened, back door open, laundry window etc." we were told this came with our previous system (base model). So I asked the installation tech about the one we previously had and he explained that is a upgrade and it would cost more. This made my wife and I very upset because at the old house we had the updated panel (as previously stated) so my wife and I called the sale rep (Aaron) again and he told us he did not know about the previous panel we had and that if we wanted that panel we need to pay for the upgrade... but said "let me talk to my manager and see what I can do." He calls us back and said he can sell it to us for 50% off but that is as far as he can go. At this point we are confused and a bit appalled because we were never informed that was a upgrade and as mentioned we purchased it for our previous home. So he suggested we call his manager(jimmy) and he said the same thing the installer and sale rep said " if we wanted a upgrade we would have to pay for it" I told him if this was a upgrade then we already paid for it at the old house and why would we pay for it again. This gentleman was belittling, mocking and rude to us stating that we were trying to get a discount and he doesn't feel it was their fault it was a miscommunication. If I was a new customer then I can see his point but the fact is this was a upgrade (what we thought at the time was a UPGRADE!)that I already paid for and already had in our previous home! I just wanted what we had at the old house. To make the long story short we told him to cancel it all and we called ADT Corporate to ensure our cancellation was done and we receive our refund for the money we paid for the additional equipment. At this point we spoke to customer advocacy and explained the whole situation. She explained that the keypad we wanted is DEFINITELY a base model in which came with the system!!!! If we even wanted the key fob version it's the same as well just a update. The only keypad panel that would be a upgrade and incl a additional cost is the touch screen version! She then apologized for Jimmys actions and how he was trying to charge us for something we shouldn't have to pay for! She was not sure why he was trying to charge us for it. A complaint was submitted about Jimmy and said we will hear back on Monday. At that point customer advocacy explained she will find out the outcome of the keypad, complaint etc and at that point we can decide we want to continue with service or cancel completely. I'll post of any update So Ryan and his partner came out to do the install in our ADT system. Vary professional and extra nice, saved ADT from losing a customer. Michelle a customer rep also a person that is extremely professional started the help of my family and I not moving to another vender help too. Install and communications of our system went above and beyond. Glade that we stayed with ADT knowing that there are still good people with good customer service employees in ADT. 20 stars for these people but for a business that has employees that have no customer service skill (that are customer driven for revenue) that are still employed, will have to raise to 2 star only. read more

I never write reviews but this has been the worst experience ever. I will rate this 0 stars if I could. ADT Blue is the WORST! They send you little sensors you install yourself and they fall off constantly making the alarm go off all the time. Have called several times and the representatives have told me to go to Target, buy a different tape and styrofoam, and try to fix it myself. HORRIBLE customer service and horrible product. And of course you have to pay the penalty fee to cancel early even though it is on them that their product does not work whatsoever. Absolutely ridiculous. Use a different company!!!! read more

Lied to get me into service. The rep knew full well we were moving in 6 months. When we saw a contract for 36 months, I said we can't do it. He assured both me and my wife that we can get out of the contract for only one month serve cost as a penalty. When I went to cancel when we moved, ADT wanted 75% of the 36mo as penalty. I explained our talk with the rep but the contract said nothing of the sort. I called the rep and he said he would call me when he got to the office. He did not and never returned any of my calls. The installation process began well. Mitch, the technician, was knowledgeable and friendly. About halfway through the installation process he was joined by another technician, Tim, who was also knowledgeable and friendly. As the technicians were leaving I planned to give them a tip to thank them for their work. Unfortunately I discovered cash missing from my purse. Earlier that day I had placed four $20.00 bills in the purse in preparation for an appointment the next day. There was at least 1 other $20.00 bill in the purse, along with two or three $5.00 bills and four $1.00 bills. I had not left the house after placing the money in the purse, and no one other than me and your two technicians had been in the house. All of the $20.00 bills were missing, possibly one or two of the $5.00 bills, and two of the $1.00 bills. I told Mitch and Tim that I was missing cash. They both denied any knowledge of the money and offered to show me their wallets. Both were wearing clothing with many pockets and had made numerous trips to their cars so showing me their wallets was meaningless. The only way to prove one or both of them had my money would have been to call the police and request full body and vehicle searches. Obviously that was not a reasonable option for missing something over $100. I will not be recommending this company. I am writing this review because I believe it is important for users to know that at least one of the employees is a liar and a thief. I suspect this behavior is not a one-time-only action so if, in the future, ADT receives a similar complaint about either Mitch or Tim, they can use this review as supporting evidence for a pattern of behavior. Update: Today I received a copy of my first bill. After specifically requesting a paper invoice via US mail the charges are being automatically charged to my credit account. I called the 800 number for Billing think, maybe, it's been changed. Unfortunately there is yet another issue. After also being specifically told I would not have to pay an extra monthly fee for "armed guard response" the charge appears on my bill. I spoke to a representative - again - and was told my "municipality requires the fee." I had service with another company for 6 years and was never charged a fee for "armed response." Of course I received this bill AFTER the 3 day period in which I can cancel the service so it looks like I'm stuck with ADT for 36 months. I have already started to file my complaint with the Nevada Consumer Protection Agency. read more

This review is about ADT Security Service Company in general. I have been a customer with ADT for nine plus years here in Las Vegas. I signed a new contract for my new home back in 2016. This contract was a 3-year contract. Beware, your initial price will keep going up each year at a price they control. You have zero input when you are under contract. I called, and they were not flexible with lowering my price especially when they had me locked in contract. My most recent pricing was at $68/month. When I called to cancel because I switched to another company, they told me they could lower my payment to $39.99/month. How much money did I waste over the last 12 months??? $350 dollars. Then the lady told me that they require a 30-day notice. I have already paid through the 18th of January with this being the 6th of January. They lady said I will have to pay through the 6th of February. The service is no longer hooked up and they are not monitoring or anything. I think this is a bad business practice and very unfair for the consumer. They overcharged me for the last year and now want to charge me more. I will never do business with ADT again. They pride themselves on being the biggest Alarm Company. Well, I can safely say being the biggest doesn't always make you the best. This company has a good reputation so I called them. They sent out a crappy contractor named Defender, which is a bunch of poor customer service crooks. The supervisor refused to talk to me so I called ADT. Was told they just "monitor" the system and I am stuck with the crappy customer service and thievery from there contractor and there was nothing they could do. If you are looking to get an alarm or security service from ADT, you really aren't. They contract for everything related to the system except apparently monitoring. As stated on many consumer complaint websites, ADT DOES NOT CARE bout PEOPLE, ADT only cares about 1 thing MONEY. ADT is no different from the many greedy cooperations that trick consumers into long contracts with promises of excellent customer care and prompt service delivery; then once they have a consumer in their clutches, they neglect, dismiss and exploit the consumer with impunity. ADT FAILED TO SECURE our home when our alarm was activated and that speaks volumes for how low their SECURITY measures have deteriorated. We paid for security NOT the appearance or promise of security. ADT failed to call as is stated in our service agreement and therefore was in breach of the contract. Charging us an early termination fee because we did not give them an opportunity to fix the problem before deciding to terminate service is highly unethical. It is understood that the contract and the payments we made were indeed the "OPPORTUNITY," not after our home has been burglarized and the ADT ALARM COMPANY FAILED TO RESPOND. The failure of ADT to protect us prompted us to cancel and we are not interested in using a company that has demonstrated such poor service delivery. ADT failed to deliver the agreed upon service when needed, which was to Call our home when the burglar alarm was actived as agreed. That is clear from the many sad and frustrated consumers like me. If I could give no stars I would-this is a perfect example of a company that takes advantage of the consumer to the "n" degree every time a new homeowner takes over an existing system. Bottom line is I have a home with an extensive system already in place and after the installation/sales rep set in my kitchen for over an hour refusing to do anything until I agreed to add improvements to my system. Then he reviewed my system and I found it odd that he told me what I needed "before" he saw my new system. I started to think that this guy wasn't smart enough to just come in and take over the system OR he was far smarter than I am and wasConniving a type away to swindle as much money as possible out of this new-install instead of just performing the straightforward arrangement previously agreed-upon with the sales people on the phone. We had one camera moved another camera adjusted a new camera put in plus he adjusted the angle of our ring doorbell also while he was here plus he was very patient while I had to constantly keep calling my husband on the phone and speaking on speaker between the 3 of us to make sure all the angles were to my husband's satisfaction. Paul has the attitude that his main concern is to make sure that his customer is happy with the work because that's all that matters and I appreciate that. So I had an alarm go off and was notified by ADT. I was at a restaurant but I knew it was the foyer glass break alarm set off by my dog barking. It happens all the time. The tech said a security officer was dispatched and the tech couldn't reach him to cancel the dispatch. Well, the security officer arrived.........2 1/2 hours later and asked if everything was OK. I was a customer for over six years. I recently moved and turned off my service while my home was put on the market. One week later my home was broken into. Luckily the property was empty. I called ADT to see if they could turn the alarm back on while the house was on the market, as it had just been deactivated a week ago after six years of service. I was told to call back during M-F and the loyalty department could turn on for me. I called today and was told they could not turn back on unless I signed a three year contract. Thanks so much ADT. I'm absolutely disgusted with ADT's customer service ! I had them install a system in my home about 7 years ago, after the 3 year contract I cancelled my monitoring service, as I found out that they really don't do anything when the alarm goes off, so for me, being on a tight budget, the 59.00 a month was a waste of my money. If you have the alarm, and someone breaks in, the alarm still goes off, so for me, that was fine. So....fast forward to now, I did a remodel on my home, which included new doors. They took the sensors off the doors, and when I couldn't get them to work on my new doors I called ADT to see if I could pay them a service fee to come out and put the sensors back on. And their response was "we don't do that !! , why would we send a technician out to someone who doesn't even have a monitoring contract with us ?" I told the guy I was willing to pay whatever they wanted for someone to fix my sensors...and they still said NO ! I said "well it's nice to know you stand by your products....and your customers. Complete Scam Artists! I was very up front about my situation, told them multiple times that I only needed a 1 year contract because I would not be able to use the services after 1 year. Low and behold I went to cancel service after 1 year and they claim I have a 3 year contract that will cost $1,200 to get out of. I asked for a copy of the contract, and it is not my handwriting or signature on the contract. SCAM, SCAM, SCAM!!! They are now forcing me to fill out the ridiculously long fraud investigation request. Meanwhile I have to pay the $1,200 so my credit is not destroyed. I am seriously thinking about trying to take them to small claims. ALSO THEIR CAMERA EQUIPMENT IS TERRIBLE. They stopped working almost immediately after installed. Mail doesn't deliver on a Sunday so they received it Monday. Threatened and harassed for months then sent to collections for $2500. Terrible company to deal with. read more
