Lately, my car has been very needy,but when your ride is 8 years old and paid off, you make sure its taken care of. If my recent luck of having two busted exterior handles was not enough, one Saturday on my way to an event, my key fobe stopped working. The antitheft feature is great when you have a working driver's side handle. Not so much when both front doors are not working, which the manual key only opens when the key fobe's battery is down. Basically, I was LOCKED out of my car in my OWN GARAGE. Out of frustration, I kept pressing the buttons on the key fobe until finally enough juice from the battery existed for all the doors to be unlocked. Decided to jump in the car, cancel my Saturday plans and go straight to the part store or dealership to get a battery. At first I was headed to the dealership, but with a 8 year old car, you may find what you need locally in your typical part store, so I pulled over, did a search and Advance Auto Parts was at the top of the search list. I called and someone named Jarred picked up. This is around 11 am Saturday and this guy is completely jovial. I ask him do they have a replacement battery for my vehicle's key fobe...Absolutely Jarred replies. I asked him if they assist customers replacing the battery... Jarred adamantly responds of course we do that all the time! So, I immediately dip down Broadway to make sure my ride is accessible. Soon as I enter Advance Auto Parts, I'm greeted and when I mention my reason for being in the store, Jarred excitely says, YES I was the one you talked to! Although my fobes were a little challenging to open, Jarred was devoted to making sure I had what I needed, which was working fobes! Took about 10 minutes total to do the replacement in both fobes and to complete the transaction and off I went to go work out without fear of being locked out! 1st off my morning was a bummer because my battery died so I called to verify location & spoke with a nice gentlemen by the name of Chris. Told him my issue & he told me to come in & have my battery tested. Upon arrival all the staff was very nice, friendly, professional appearance & eager to help. Sept 25 2018, 1:30 pm, I came for car battery. There are 4 staffs and I am the only customer. I ordered online and Empree , the black dude with beard, said that the item I purchased online is not availble from their store until his associates found the item that I ordered to pick up from this location. Then Empree which is the cashier for this order pick up, refused to install my battery I purchased from them as he said they are not supposed to install it (which is a lie) He also refused the free battery and alternator testing to me. He also have a very unproffesional manner. He is rude and hesitates to accept my old battery as it was dirty (of course it is the old battery from my car). read more

They have this sign behind the cashiers that says something about a smile and a good attitude going a long way but I got neither of those from either of the 2 guys at the front. Literally not even a smile. Bought a battery. Had to walk into the parking lot and install it myself .... the guy ended with my transition with a flat "anything else?" and a blank stare. why put "free install with purchase" as a huge sign in the store if you aren't going to *actually* install it. Worst experience ever. I bought a set of break lights a couple of months ago and the guy was nice enough to install it for me, now the other break light is failing, I stopped by to buy a few things and see if they could install the failing light too.Danny, one of the workers told me basically it's not his job to do that and demanded me to help him, I told him it was ok and I would go to autozone instead. He responded "alright bye". If I could I would award zero stars, avoid the rudeness of this store and try others around the area. read more

When you have car issues, the last thing you need is bad customer service. At this Advance Auto Parts location, I assure you nothing but great service, friendly staff and positive attitudes. I've been 3 times to this loc in the last year for random parts.. Wipers, tire cleaners, etc. On my last visit, I needed my battery replaced. Yes, they replace your battery and they give great advice while doing it. Hey - I'm a girl, so car advice is always needed. What's nice is they won't recommend you get the most "expensive" part. They'll recommend the best deal-best quality combination.. that's what everyone wants. Definitely appreciated in my book. read more

I had issues with my battery the past two days (struggling to get it to start as well as dying). I had been able to get my kids to school just in time but was now running late for work. Went to see about taking it somewhere only to find out I had to make an appointment. So, saw that Advance Auto Parts can check your battery for free and even will install your battery for free (with purchase). Since I was certain the battery was the problem, I headed there - sure enough the battery was toast. I was helped right away, checked the battery, advised me on which battery would be the best bet (and it can with a rebate), and they installed it. All within 30 minutes. (I would say 20 but I wasn't timing it). Ended up getting to work only 20 minutes late (instead of taking several hours off with the other guys)! I recently tried out the online ordering process for www.advanceautoparts.com, selecting the store located at 9907 Broadway St, Pearland, Tx. The online ordering process was very good (easy 4 stars), found the products I wanted purchased them. Here is where the process is very broken. What I expected was to go to the store and have my order waiting - but what happened was the store clerk printed out my receipts and said here you go. I then asked him for my merchandise - swiping his finger across the store - he said "it's out there". I then asked why they didn't pull the merchandise - he informed me that people order stuff and then never show up to get it and that was a hassle. I have to admit, this just seems wrong. In fact ordering online and then having to hunt and find what I bought was a real pain in the tail. The whole point for me was to buy from a local merchant (.vs. online) and make it quick and easy on me. If this had worked like I thought - advance auto parts would be getting more business from me (they actually got more money from me becuase I was able to take my time and select from the web site). But as it was, my "quick" trip to pick up my stuff ended up taking me 20~30mins just to find my stuff - thankfully I complained enough that one of the employees came and helped me find some of the items I ordered or it would have been much longer.
