First of all, I have a very bad anxiety disorder. The dental assistant, very kind and understanding of my condition. She even put on punk rock music for me to listen to to get my mind off the procedure. Summary: -Dr. Niknam did not communicate clearly with me -Tried to up-sell me on a $650 appliance -Refused to fill the cavities I was scheduled to have filled Review: It's difficult to find a dentist who takes Denti-Cal insurance, who also has good reviews. I was hoping Dr. Niknam was one of the good ones, but my experience at this dental office was not a positive one. I had two visits at this office within the same week. I was seen past my appointment time for both visits. For my most recent visit, I waited over 30 minutes to be seen and heard the staff say I should've been seen before someone else they took in earlier. I found Dr. Niknam to be a poor communicator regarding what work needed to be completed and what work she was actually going to do. She told me that none of my cavities were "emergent," so we didn't need to have them filled. I'd rather not wait for my cavities to get to the "emergent" stage before filling them, so that concerned me. She also told me it could take "hours" to grind a new filling back to my regular bite. I've never had a cavity filling take hours and the process of matching my bite after a cavity filling was always a part of the process. I'm not sure why she seemed overly concerned about doing a filling. She finally agreed to do one filling at that first visit, then asked for me to return to have two other cavities filled, but asked for me to bring the stent I wear on my teeth at night so she "could check it." I went to my next appointment believing that my two cavities would be filled. After waiting 30 minutes, I told the women in the front office I'd been waiting 30 minutes. That's when I was finally brought in. Dr. Niknam took one look at my stent and said, "That's nothing! That's nothing!" I did not understand why she was having such a strong reaction to my stent. It would have been nice if she had just explained why she needed the stent in the first place and why she seemed so upset about it now. She proceeded to tell me that she would not do my two fillings because my stent was not what she expected. She then tried to sell me a $650 dental appliance, as well as a $25 toothpaste. I was very frustrated that she had wasted my time by bringing me in to supposedly complete two fillings and then refused to do them. My time is valuable and I set aside an entire afternoon to have this work completed, only to be told the work wouldn't be done unless I purchased Dr. Niknam's $650 dental appliance. I left the office feeling frustrated and disgusted, and without my cavities filled. Some people seem to have a great experience here. Mine was terrible. Good luck. read more

Dr. Bijan is the best. The office is clean and staff are friendly and courteous. When it was time for a tooth to get extracted, I had financial concerns and they worked with me. It made me feel like Dr. Bijan was more concerned about getting that bad tooth out asap than making money from me and I highly appreciated it.
