I came to Advanced Smiles Dentistry in Tijuana because I needed quite a bit of work. I read all of the reviews on yelp of several dentists and decided to come here. The easiest way to get here coming from Calif. is to take the blue line trolley to San Ysidro and then a quick walk over the border. Once there, a cab ride is about 5.00 to get to the office. A uber ride will be about 2.10....but be careful of roaming charges on your phone. The staff at Advanced Smiles Dentistry are all very helpful and accommodating. They gladly answered any questions I had and gave me details on the insurance process. I was lucky enough to get Doctor Stephanie De Anda. I can't say enough good things about her. She was patient, dedicated her time, explained the recommended procedure, gave you the different options and was a perfectionist. She took her time and made sure everything fit good and looked good. She will also occasionally sing a couple of verses from the current song that's playing. All in all, this was my second visit and I would highly recommend Advanced Smiles Dentistry to anyone looking to get some work done. Dr. Julian who I recommend has great "dentist chair" manner. I barely felt a thing when he put the numbing shots. He is kind enough to warn you if there are spots which are less comfortable that he needs to inject. I never felt like I was waiting too long. Seriously you guys call me to try and convince me to erase the review i put on here..... I think not!!!! This place is so inexperienced (words spoken from Dr.Julian) growing establishment. So you want me to change how i feel; not going to happen. I was misdiagnosed. Sad part is i was i had thousands of dollars to pay i was mad cause thaey wouldn't do the surgery in the time allotted. So in other words i wasted time off work,trip...etc. It has been a month and i here from you. I am satisfied that things turned out the way they did cause i got the best care through a more experience Doctor (WHO ACTUALLY SPECIALISES IN IMPLANTS). Dont care what others say. I am speaking for myself and i sure as hell wouldn't want my dental needs seen nor done by an amateur..... BTW you get what youbpay for so if you like the cheap work they did or have done to you.... Me and my wife got a quote from a dentist in Simi Valley, we are from El Salvador and back there they treat customers like family, in Simi Valley they were rude and expensive, a friend told me to go to TJ, found this place for there work (not the driver who pick them up from the border, ridiculous review) on yelp, after our visit there we were completely satisfied with our first experience they treat us like humans, dr Alejandra and dr Julian are the best, we need to go back a few times more, but we don't care the 3-4 hrs driving from Chatsworth since we always find great places to eat, specially if we are saving money, We highly recommend them!!! read more

Excellent choice for dental implants. Dr. Metzler was very nice and really did a good job of putting my implants. I was scared and nervous at first but he made me feel comfortable through the whole process. The ladies in the front desk were very friendly too. It's a small place but they have high tech machines. First of all, I want to Thank All the Doctors and Staff at Advance Smile dentistry. I had called on Wednesday for an appointment to see a doctor, I was told the next available appointment was for next following week. I had mentioned I had a really bad toothache and wasn't able to wait for the following week, the receptionist stated she was going to help me. She made it happen, the very next day I drove from LA to TJ to see a doctor. I had the very last appointment of the day. The reason I mention this is very important because, there closing hours are at 6pm. The staff stayed open after 7:30pm including several doctors assisting me to make sure I wasn't in pain anymore. 1st time doing dental work in Mexico and was amazing by everything and everyone at this place. Very pleased and will be going back to finish my other fillings. Dra. Alejandra Flores did an amazing job on my 2 top molars. I had some serious tooth decay from clentching, poor recent dental hygiene and letting my checkups and fillings lapse. She was very gentle, clearly explained everything and went above and beyond making sure to get it all out. I had decay basically down to the edge of the root and she mentioned I might have to get a root canal done but did her best to get it all without doing a full root canal. I ended up not having to get a root canal done bc of her precision and skill.....what a relief! Can't thank her enough. I had a root canal, a filling, a crown and a cleaning and because they took their time I didn't have any pain. They are very professional, they have an amazing bed side manor. I went to Advanced smiles to get two new veneers on my front teeth. The staff was extremely friendly and the dentist was nice. Unfortunately, I had to go to Mexico 3 times. The first was for the preparation and the temporary veneers. They did not last a day. Both of them popped off while eating chips before dinner that night. A week later I traveled back to get my permanent ones. They were not the right color. A new set of temporaries were made and this time, they lasted the whole week. I traveled back to Mexico, from Orange County, a third time and the color was still not right but kept them anyway because I did not want to have to go back a fourth time. The four hour round trip and the cost of car insurance each time was getting expensive and time consuming. The new veneers don't fit right. I can't even get my molars together to chew properly. All in all, the quality of the work was inferior. I was planning on having 3 crowns replaced at Advanced Smiles but will choose another dentist for them. Meanwhile, every time I look in the mirror, I see "grey" front teeth and a reminder of the poor quality of the product. read more

The dentists dentist :) I will start by saying that I, myself am a dentist and I have my practice in San Diego, so you can just imagine how important my teeth and smile are for me and how important it is to me to choose the person that will actually work on my own smile (and no, I can't work on my own teeth lol) I can honestly say that I could have choosen ANY dentist in the US or anywhere else, I had no financial restrictions, could have traveled anywhere to look for the best dentist to do my treatment but I chose to go down to Tijuana to see Dr. De Anda because I have personally seen his work before and it is top of the line. Also his chairside manners are great and has a gentle touch wich is something very important for me when its my turn to be the patient. Yes, Dr de Anda is a young doctor, but young also means that he is updated with the latest techniques wich to me is better than having someone with 30 years experience using the same techniques for those 30 years wich believe me happens a lot in our proffesion. He did cosmetic dentistry to my upper front teeth and I'll post a picture here from my before and after that I took from their FB page. For some reason, I've never had two of my permanent teeth at the top. As a result, the rest of my teeth spread apart, creating, I believe 5 gaps. I started going to Advanced Smiles Dentistry in 2018 (October, I believe). Now, less than 2 years later, I have a gap-free smile complete with the correct amount of teeth. ASD was very flexible, communicated clearly, and gave me options at every turn. This was very important as while I came to resolve the missing teeth/gap issue, I also have other issues that made treatment complicated. I'm very pleased with the overall results and I definitely smile more now. Finally, the people who work at ASD are some of the most friendly people I've met and they go above and beyond. They even gave me local restaurant tips and directions to the nearest cash exchange on one of my longer trips. They remind you of appointments, help you arrange transportation, and more. Have gone there several times, driving all the way from Oregon. Very good dental work, have no complaints. Only problem is that they do not take Delta Dental directly. You pay and then Delta reimbursing you. I would suggest that you have them give you a full receipt, showing that you paid and you fill out and mail the paperwork yourself. Every time they have had their 3rd party processor do the paperwork it does not get filed. Oh, and you get a 10% discount for CASH, not card. read more
