It's hot here in the summer, usually under 110 deg F, but not by much in the peak of summer. So, our air conditioner is important to us. It needs to run reliably when we need it and it needs to cool us off. AG H&AC did a great job installing our new system but it never quite worked as we'd expected. Several people came out to diagnose what seemed to be an erratic problem that didn't display any error codes. They were helpful but the problem seemed confounding. Ronnie was polite and helpful on the phone, even as our frustrations rose, and explained to us the next steps in what was turning out to be a stubborn problem. As the diagnostics continued, the AG team started to rule out problems. They had us monitor the system, take notes, and look for error codes. There were no error codes but AG kept after it, putting Harry on the job. In a couple of trips, Harry had diagnosed the problem, ordered a new part, and replaced the thermostat with a new model that had come available after our purchase. Harry personally supervised the team that replaced the part and monitored the system once it was restarted, a 6-hour job. We are very pleased to say that the system seems to be much better, though we are still getting used to the new smart thermostat and its remotes. Thank you Ronnie, Harry, and the rest of the AG team for perseverance through a complex problem or problems, for a positive attitude, and for explaining the process as you narrowed in on a solution. Here's the most important things to note: - Misrepresentation during sales pitch meetings. - BEWARE of promises made. - Poor coordination on site (our "project manager" went on vacation and was not once on site during the install). - Pricey $$$$ - Non-responsiveness on part of executive team when concerns are raised. We witnessed a GREAT DEAL of lying on part of the saleswoman. She made a list of promises and we trusted AG to deliver, but were left sorely disappointed. We will now spend thousands (yes, THOUSANDS) of dollars to fix all the problems they left. DO NOT CALL THEM FOR A SERVICE CALL. My Wife hired them through Home Depot for an annual service appointment. Guy showed up,installed a filter, and then went outside to make some money. Told my wife that he found some fuses that "were STARTING to go bad" and a bad compressor. Fuses don't start to go bad, they work or they don't. The compressor was actually a capacitor that works just fine. He then charged her $450.00 for 90 minutes and parts that cost all of $40, at most, on line. Total racket. Wow. We were so close to being pushed into paying for a massively overpriced system with these people. Beware! They tell you that both homeowners need to be present when they come out to estimate, and allow at least 90minutes... Here's why - You're subjected to 90 minutes of timeshare style hard selling - They completely mislead us on what we needed for a replacement HVAC system. one example - He told us we had a 5ton unit (the biggest available) - we actually have a 3.5, Our existing Nest thermostat wouldn't work with the new system, so we had to buy a new one, etc. etc. He eventually persuaded us we needed to spend nearly $15k on a new system - He almost got us, hook, line and sinker. They are Home Depot's contractor for air con installations. Home Depot offer several manufacturers for systems - He told us they only offer Lennox. (I guess because he gets the biggest commission on that brand?) We only began to have suspicions when we told him we wanted 24 hours to think about it. He began to push us to sign on the spot, he then started getting desperate, throwing more and more reasons why we had to sign then and there, and we became suspicious. When we told him we wanted time to think about it, he left he said "I'm glad I didn't waste my time filling out the paperwork with you." We then had two other quotes from people we found on Yelp, who offered much less intense selling. We finally agreed on a higher end system than AG was selling - for under $10k all in! Both other companies quoted around the same rate. It felt really unscrupulous and pushy - in fact we've since discovered that many things he told us were exaggerated and untrue. I would never use these guys, nor recommend them - I'm also writing a complaint to Home Depot. They put the 'con' in Air Con. Stay clear! read more

I am a strong supporter of companies in the Valley, as I have lived here for much of my life. I found it necessary to report how I was recently SCAMMED. AG heating and air has terrible customer service and apart from not delivering on promises, denying services and warranties originally promised, they dare to claim that they "finished" the job by leaving encased pipes and tubes along the OUTSIDE of my walls. The sales lady they sent was top notch, promising everything you could want in your new A/C unit...but leaves you at the end of the day frustrated, upset, and feeling like you got scammed. We came home from vacation to record cold temperatures, only to discover that our heater decided to die on us when we returned. AG came out the next morning, identified the problem as a faulty circuit board in the heater, and had it repaired first thing the next morning. Their repairman, Jesse, was friendly and polite, and wore covers over his shoes so our house wouldn't get dirty from his workboots. All in all, a great experience. I contacted AG to schedule a consult for installing air conditioning in my older home. They confirmed the appointment the day before & advised when they were on their way & when they expected to arrive. Very professional. Spent an hour surveying the existing ducting, electrical, etc and then explained the whole thing to me. They made me such a reasonable offer that I chose to go ahead. When they came out to install, they were very careful about where they stepped, completed installation in one day, and then spent the time to instruct me on how to use it. Also installed a new digital thermostat that I can control through an app on my phone. Edson also threw in maintenance on my heating unit (I didn't think it had been done for quite some time). Eric came out to service the heater today, and was very efficient and courteous and professional. He even installed the app for me on my phone, since I couldn't figure it out LOL. He tested the intake, all the vents, both air-conditioning and heating, before he left. I would highly recommend this company for any of your heating or air conditioning needs! read more

Our AC unit was nearing 45 years old and could no longer keep up with the extra demand caused by climate change. They came within two days of my phone call, did some checks, and provided a firm fixed estimate on the spot. New AC - one-half ton higher rating - completely new duct work, Title XIII testing and all city permits included. I wouldn't have believed it if I weren't there. A team of about 6, two trucks. After the install they never followed up for any of the cleanings. So I had someone come look at it. AG was contracted by Home Depot to install our new HVAC system two years ago and that was fine. Now we had a problem and called them for a service call. Harry was the technician who came to my house. He is the most condescending, rude service "professional" I have ever dealt with. I do not appreciate being treated like an idiot simply because I am female. Harry was rude, and repeatedly lied to me. He was clearly trying to make as much money from my "covered under warranty" service call as he could, and did so by trying to scare me. He was verbally abusive and sarcastic. I am very disappointed that Home Depot is using this unprofessional, money-grubbing contractor to fulfill their sales. They will be hearing from me as well. I thought I was getting a premium experience when we paid more money to go with AG Heating and Air Conditioning. My wife and I liked their sales pitch but the service was terrible. They rushed my installation. They cut my vent transition on my very new ducting in half in order to remove the old heater. They did not communicate that they were going to cut my ducting transition in half before they did it. They were very communicative during the sale but once they sold me they didn't care anymore. They were in and out in 6-8 hours but it felt very rushed. The cracked my drywall when putting a vent in. I can put a vent in without cracking my drywall. After the sale and installation, they are not proactive about reaching out to me to come back and fix the register vent that the bent when they put it in. Do not use this company!!! If you go through Home Depot, they use this company so do not use Home Depot for heating and air services. read more

These people are SCAMMING people! I was referred to his company by Home Depot. I called them because I wanted my AC unit to be tuned up for optimal performance. When I called to make the appointment I told them that my unit worked and that I wanted them to just come and add more coolant or whatever they do to yearly maintenance. They scheduled me an appointment for a week and a half later. When the technician came my husband told me that they were under the impression that the unit was broken. After disconnecting things and looking around they found that the unit was old and suggested we get a deep cleaning for 1,500 or replace our old unit for 15,000. He did not offer to do the maintenance that I requested and demanded we pay 89 dollars for them to replace our air filter. My husband paid and they left. Fast forward a week later, our condenser is not working. I don't believe in coincidences so I knew this company was at fault. I call the company and they are perplexed by what I tell them. They said that the technician should have done the maintenance, they said that they couldn't find the documentation from that visit, and they said that they would come back again free of charge unless they find something wrong. My husband found that the technician haphazardly reconnected fuses and wiring and I believe he did this on purpose so we could pay for a new 15,000 system. Beware everyone! I have contacted Home Depot about this and I will be making complaints elsewhere. I also spoke to the company and they defended his actions stating that the technician is allowed to decline doing yearly maintenance and require you to get a 1,500 dollar service. The representative focused on the fact that my unit is old. This is the main thing these companies do: they make you believe you need a new unit just so they can overcharge you. REALLY wish I could give ZERO STARS! This company came to me through Home Depot. During the extreme heat of Summer several years ago, I wanted to try a service provider though Home Depot because I thought their vendors would be background checked and thoroughly vetted. WRONG! The technician for AG charged me $562 for replacing two capacitors in the condenser (that large metal box likely on top of your roof). Since that price seemed VERY high, I asked that the old parts be returned to me (by law, replaced parts must be given to the customer). This is where everything went sideways. I was not going to get the old parts, period. I even tried calling the office and was told, "you asked too late." So I removed the panel of the condenser myself and wrote down the numbers on the new capacitors. I plugged those numbers into the Google Ask bar. I learned that those capacitors sold for $15 each. To make a long story short, I was returned $177 and received an Apology. Also the owner (Zack Giron) came to my home and gave me a review on how to maintain my A/C system. He was extremely nice, and I let go the fact that I was severely overcharged before the refund. But even at $385 I paid too much! BUT I'M WRITING THIS REVIEW FOR HOME DEPOT CUSTOMERS: If you hire a service provider and have a bad experience... complain directly to the District Service Manager (DSM) of Home Depot. Go back to the store that you were billed through and speak to the store manager. Tell him/her that you want the phone & email address of their DSM. Email your complaint followed by a phone call. THIS IS HOW YOU GET RESULTS! FINAL NOTE: When the AG technician and (later) Zack Giron came to my home, they both repeatedly talked about "replacement." This is a sales technique called, "shaping the customer's perceptions." They are trying to plant the seed in your head that you need a new A/C system so they can have a nice payday. This is simply DISHONEST. In my case, my system was 12 years old and had at least 15 more good years. My husband and I decided to install an AC/Heating system almost 10 years after living in our current house and dealing with a broken one. Upon looking at some of the reviews, I felt highly discouraged to move forward. Reading them made me nervous and want to talk my husband into pushing it back another 10 years. But I am glad I didn't. Johnathan really helped make the process easier. He was very accommodating and walked me through step by step of what has be do and what will be done. My husband works 5 days a week and his only free time to meet and talk about the process was on Sunday, so yes Johnathan came by on Sunday to reexplain to my husband everything he explained to me 4 days earlier. I would give them a 4 stars if the inspection went through the first time. After the installation, everything went fairly well. However, we didn't pass the city inspection due to the material they used. You would think after customers and customers, they would know what the inspectors are looking for and not make those mistakes, but they don't. Now we have to waste 2 more days to stay home for the project to be finished. (1 day for them to fix the mistake and 1 day for the inspection). It is frustrating. read more

He was johnny-on-the-spot with respect to answering questions and concerns throughout the project from beginning to end. The installers were reliable and worked quickly and efficiently. We passed all of the subsequent inspections without any problem and we also received several rebates, as promised. I cannot believe that the Home Depot in Tehachapi, CA utilizes this company for their HVAC needs. The worst customer service. Their prices are absolutely ridiculous. A part covered under warranty was less expensive than the little labor involved in fixing it. Then the third guy to come out and proceeds to tell me my blower and coils need cleaning for a total of $1650. That may be ok for the people that you service in Van Nuys that make a substantial amount of money, but I'm living on one fixed income! I would never recommend this company to my worst enemy! As of 12/29 my heat stopped working less than 12 hours from when they left. They have a weekend service that is not customer service friendly either. They take your name and number and say that someone will get back to you but they never do. It was 23 degrees last night and slated to be the same tonight and I don't have any heat because of this company! read more

Home Depot's AG Nadav seemed honest and caring. After Metropolitan's tech told my warranty co that I had to hire my own company to clean the evap coils, I contacted several and Home Depot's was the best price. Nadav explained the AC was freezing up due to freon missing and that the coils were clean. He took a picture, which I used to show the warranty company and now they said it is the INSIDE of the coils that are dirty. I hired Nadav of AG (Home Depot) to clean the coils and he could have earned big money but walked away. Why? Now I am paying $475 to American Alliance (through FAHWarranty Co) to chemically clean the coils, which is supposedly the only reason the AC is not blowing cold air very strong. (Digression: I don't know if it is just FAHWarranty or all home warranty companies but their techs don't spend time to figure out exactly what the problem is, and won't talk to the tenant. I know this from two inept dishwasher techs who caused $30,000 mold damage that my home insurance had to pick up last year. They did not hook up the hose right so it leaked for months, (then didn't dry it when they came back. FAHWarranty would not even pay the deductible. Anyone have any good warranty companies to recommend?) Reading through some of these reviews makes me realize owners need to be present for appliance repairs because when they are, the techs seem to care more. But that's not right. Appliance companies should respect tenants and give them the same explanations as if they are the owner, because tenants are responsible for maintenance. They need to clean/replace the filter regularly, at least twice a year. read more

GET YOUR REBATE UP FRONT!!! I worked with AG to install a new Air Conditioner. The over service was great. However, my quote involved a $1k rebate in the form of a prepaid credit card. It's been over a month and the rebate has yet to arrive. I wonder if others have had a similar experience and, had I known this, I probably would have worked with another vendor on the project. ONE STAR BECAUSE I WAS FORCED. AG was hired for a job to install some AC units to our apartment building. They sent their prime sales lady who conned us into thinking we were going to get what she promised. Bullet points to consider before throwing your money away into a pit of despair: -The salesperson misrepresented what she could deliver by promising ready to paint walls, hidden pipes/tubes in the walls, services, and warranties, but could not deliver any of it. -She promised herself as prime point of contact to be there at every step of construction and ended up going on vacation when construction started and did not leave a back up. There was no coordinator or project manager to speak with. -Non-responsiveness -Hideous Aesthetic finish -Refusal to rectify how they promised they would leave the work. It was a learning lesson for us to go through this process and found it shocking that we could let ourselves get conned in such an extreme way. We looked at 3 companies to install our new HVAC system. These were Lowe's, Home Depot and Costco. The Lowe's rep and installer showed up and explained the options and coincidentally the installer also represented Costco. So it was the same price; just different financing options. The installer (HVAC company) never sent a quote. So when Home Depot showed up, they had a quote within 45 minutes and really great financing on a Home Depot Project Card. AG is the contractor for Home Depot and the sales rep Steven really knows his business. He was thorough in his explanation and even recommended everything to be installed in the ceiling. The others seemed put out about a ceiling install. We had to replace everything as our old system was junk. Our old duct work was disintegrating and basically we needed everything. We couldn't even use it for 2 years. Miserable in Santa Clarita's summer's. The deal was done on Saturday, the installers came on Thursday and worked 2 straight days to finish. Top of the line equipment, very efficient and clean. The crew pulled the new duct work on the first floor with zero ceiling exposure. Again, Very Clean! A shout out to Louis and his whole crew. These guys are really good. We became friends and they worked their tails off to do a professional and very clean job! This was worth every penny! read more

I purchased an A/C inspection deal through Home Depot thinking that their affiliation would lend some credibility to this service provider. I was dead wrong. This inspection was for my rental home and I was not going to be present when he technician arrived, however, my tenant was there. I asked that before he leaves, to call me with the results of the inspection. I also asked how much they charge to clean a blower fan for my central air. I was told that they could not answer that until the technician arrives. On the day of service, I didn't receive a call as promised. When I called the company to get a report the next day, I was told that they would have to call me back once they get it from the technician. When my call was finally returned, they gave me some very basic info, basically that everything turns on. They were also supposed to replace the filter, but failed to do that since the technician didn't have the correct size with him. In the end I paid $69 for nothing to be done other than taking a few temp readings showing that cool air was blowing. Additionally, now that the tech had made his visit, they were able to give me a price for cleaning of the blower fan, $600+!!. But what a deal, because if anything needs to be replaced or was broken, it would include that cost. I was horrified, I can buy a new fan for that price. The lady then told me that this is their flat rate price. So now I ask, if they have a flat rate for this service, why wouldn't she tell me the flat rate price before the technician showed up. Bottom line.....this is a very shady, over priced operation. After multiple phone calls, they gave me a $20 credit on the "deal" I got from Home Depot. Avoid this company and shame on Home Depot for supporting them. read more

LIAR LIAR LIAR! The technicians, the installation team, and the inspection staff were great. But the sales representative, Edson Ramos, lied to my face in order to get me to sign the contract. At first he said we would get a 24-month no interest credit line for the AC installation. But when the bill came it's only a 12-month no interest line. I called him and he said "Oh, many customers have the same issue, it'll be resolved in a week. ". A week later it was not resolved. I called Edson again, never heard back. After many phone calls with the credit card company and Home Depot (who contracted AG Heating), it was finally corrected. Imagine what would happen if I did not read the fine prints on the credit card statement! Secondly he said we would receive a $250 gift card after the installation. And he specifically said "You can even use the gift card to pay towards the credit line!" I was quite surprised at that so I asked "Really? Are you sure I can do that?" And with certainty he said "Yes." Guess what, that's a LIE. The gift card came and the fine print said you cannot use it to pay towards the credit line. AG Heating and Air Conditioning does good work. Their technicians were responsible and courteous. But the lies from the sales representative complplease tell your sales representative to stop lying to clients in order to get them to sign the contract. It's UNETHICAL!!! read more

Don't. $99 for mostly a sales call. They try to sell you a whole new air conditioning system instead of topping up your refrigerant. I said all I wanted was refrigerant top up for my house AC just like I do once a year. (System sometimes freezes in August when sun is on the unit in the garden late in day, but 95% of time OK at 76/77 degrees). Instead, the technician/rep told me it was "illegal" he "could not"add R-22 refrigerant to my home AC. Period. I asked this about three times to make sure and he said he could not add it. Actually, it you check the EPA site it is not illegal to add R-22 (see below). Another version was `its illegal, without fixing the leak'. Again, no EPA rule on that I could find (but to be fair it sounds like a best practice for sure if you can afford it). In fact afterwards I checked and they are making R-22 till 2020 and recycling what there is, and its not illegal at all to add (there are rules about systems needing more than 50 pounds). It will just run out eventually and get too expensive. Although it costs quite a bit more per ounce than a few years ago. --- Here is info on R-22 from the US EPA: http://www.epa.gov/ozone/title6/phaseout/22phaseout.html This says after 2010 R-22 is "limited to the servicing of existing systems." --- This one says "existing systems may be serviced": http://www.epa.gov/ozone/title6/phaseout/technicians_contractors_faq.html He also claimed a leak test and fix was as much as a new AC system, really? I could see it could take an hour or two at best to check lines up to attic. I paid $99 -- for essentially a sales call disguised around some dubious advice and little action. He offered to change my air filter but I do that myself. Later A&G finally agreed they could add some refrigerant but quoted $600-700(!). Most of us with old systems just need half to one pound to top up once a year, this costs no more than $75-125 bucks a pound. What AG meant was they insist you pay $675 for 3 pounds flat fee. Other AC companies will just sell you just what you need and indeed I found someone to do it for 125. System works great. Does this 1997 system need replacing soon? -- Sure. Am I using too much energy? Yes, but it can go for couple more years until I feel like plonking 4K down. But the tech didn't do what I asked and in my opinion distorted the truth to up sell up-sell me a whole new A/Csystem. Final oddness, you end up with two sets of paperwork one from them and one from Home Depot, not clear who is repping who or who is responsible for what. Messy. Go elsewhere. P.S. BEWARE of AG Heating and Air! They lie and will promise you anything to get your business. My family recently hired them through Home Depot expecting excellent service & workmanship but to our horror and shock we did not. They made promises that were not written down and when we tried to ask them to correct things that were unprofessionally done they said "no, it's not in the contract". The sales lady never showed herself during the construction period as she took off on vacation those three weeks of chaos. Our Apartment manager had to do all of the coordinating with our tenants and It added unnecessary stress to her workload! To correct their shabby work will cost my family thousands! AG Heating and Air Conditioning is the company that Home Depot uses, so we didn't technically choose their service, but despite that, we were overall pleasantly surprised. I do agree with one of the other reviewers that scheduling an appointment seems to be overly complicated. While we were at Home Depot, we were told that we were not able to schedule an appointment with AG directly, but instead, we needed to schedule an appointment to be contacted by AG, and then AG would set up an appointment for an estimate. We were ready to replace our 35 year old central air and heating unit ASAP, but ended up having to wait about a week before anyone called us back, because though I watched as a Home Depot employee entered our information in the computer, AG never received it. Then it took about another week before someone came over for an estimate, and then maybe up to a week for someone to actually come over to install. The scheduling process really delayed our installation, so it was a very rough start, and I was ready to really not like this company. However, that being said, the lady that came by to explain our central air options was great. She was really knowledgeable and went over all the price ranges and helped us to buy the right unit for us at a more or less reasonable price point. And when the installation team came, they were some of the most professional we have encountered. The guys were on time, courteous, and explained everything they were doing. They were patient and answered all our questions kindly. We have had some renovations and installation done in the last several years, and this team really was one of the best we have encountered. So only good things to say about the employees. Just not a fan of the scheduling process. read more

I needed a new Furnace and had done some shopping around. Ended up calling Home Depot, which pointed me to AG as their provider. The service was great from the initial call. An appointment was made and Rey G. Drove from van nuys all the way up to Santa Barbara to provide me with a consultative and informative estimate, as ell as helping me out with HD financing. The installers were awesome. Polite and answered all my questions. They went the extra mile to install my furnace correctly, in the extremely small space that is my attic. Quick facts: Called them on a Saturday late afternoon. Consultation scheduled Tuesday. Furnace installed Thursday. House warm. Done. I would recommend AG to anyone that needs HVAC work read more
