No issues with the service. The food was tasty and was served hot and looked fantastic. The only reason for three stars instead of four is the salsa. This tiny "sample size" cup is what you get for a table of 3 people and a basket of chips. You will only get about 4 or 5 good chip dips out of it. We are on a quest. A quest for the perfect margarita and chips and salsa in the 757. Came here on a whim, it was to be our first real review in our margarita journey. We ordered a jalapeño and a mango margarita to start. They weren't good. They lacked flavor and salt. We got our chips and salsa and I liked the salsa. Flavor was good but not spicy. The white sauce was good as well. We ordered guacamole and it was great! Didn't taste like plain avocados, it was a good mix. We then ordered a maragarona (margarita plus corona) and a Cantaritos. I just received my uber eats order. I ordered the Birra tacos and the tacos were not good. They were flavorless and not authentic at all. That was not consome, that was beef broth with some onions in it at best. Even the cheese was gross. I'm pretty it was sliced Velveeta that was once wrapped in plastic. If it wasnt for the service this would be a 10/10!! Ive been here multiple times, and what keeps us coming back was the food. But whats the deal breaker is the service. if you guys get the lady RUN. The service is a very awful experience with her, everytime we get her we question why we keep coming back, you have to ask multiple times for everything and shes very SLOW. She never comes back to check on anyone and yesterday was the deal breaker for us! We went out for a birthday and we decided to go here and unfortunately for us we got the lady server, we asked if they did anything for birthdays she LIED and said no. And when we were leaving she was singing happy birthday to someone else! Which sealed the deal! We will NOT BE COMING BACK! Weve had the guy server and that experience is 10/10! It's fairly quiet and the service is very quick! All of the food was so good and authentic! I just left and I am still so full from all that I ate so it is difficult to talk about food but I couldn't wait to give them some praise! Go support this place it's worth it. I am also not sure what others are referring to with the high prices, I think they are comparable to other Mexican restaurants. I absolutely LOVE their margaritas but the food is really where it's at. They serve food from different countries. For example you can find pupusas, and absolutely amazing birria con queso tacos all on the same menu. The pupusas are very filling made perfectly with the perfect amount of filling. The tacos have an ample amount of meat, cheese etc. The salsas (there are 4/5 different kinds) are made in store so they are as authentic as it gets, fresh, and delicious. We ordered at 5pm tonight. We got the Birria Burrito the tacos and the torts, these were all delicious along the the salsa. The hot sauce is no longer spicy enough but that can be related to the area. The salt on the other hand is something that the consumer should add. Can't take salt out of the food. The food is authentic Mexican food and honestly was some of the best I've had in the area. The service was also very good. We have order take out from this restaurant but have also dinned in and the service is always really good. My husband had ordered tacos Al pastor and they were delicious his friend ordered birria quesetacos and smelled and look amazing. I had the asada fries with Al pastor meat and tacos shared this with my son and he even enjoyed the food. We got agua frescas and they weren't overly sweet. Do not go to this place! We got seated and instantly noticed that the place was a bit unorganized. Layout is just plain weird. No bar, deep freezer in plain sight, kind of being used as a table behind the bar.... Weird. Took 15 mins to get anyone to come to the table or brought any chips (which is pretty standard at a Mexican joint). No white sauce. Gave us the smallest thing of salsa, and we ran out pretty quickly. Got up to ask for more, and they brought us out a bigger ramekin, which they could have brought out in the first place. Had to also get up to ask for silverware after food was brought out. Again, not ideal. Food = sub-par, at best! Fajitas were not good, and the birria tortas that I "ordered" were not even good. Waitress was just plain unprofessional and kind of rude. No water offered. Never asked if we needed anything or checked up. They definitely have some things to work out if they want to stay in business, bc no one in there looked happy with any of it. Food order was wrong. I judge a Mexican restaurant harshly by the salsa that comes with complimentary chips and salsa at most Mexican restaurants and this was the first time I wasn't overwhelmed with the prominent taste of tomato. We ordered the Birria queso-tacos, California burrito, pupusa de chicharrón, empanada de papa, cheese stuffed bacon-wrapped jalapeños, and menudo. They also brought a variety of different salsas with the entrees, this was the first Mexican restaurant in Virginia to have salsa de Chile de árbol which is huge for taco enthusiasts and was actually spicy! WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG TO DINE HERE?? First of all I'm a chef. Secondly, this is authentic Mexican with, quite literally, the best corn tortillas I've ever eaten. Thirdly, most of their meals are GLUTEN FREE! Birrias tacos, in corn tortillas, no flour added to the "Au jus" (it's Mexican so I felt like I shouldn't use the French word " Best birrias I've had in Hampton Roads. Open every day 11-9 (occasionally later if they are slammed) we rolled in right after church, starved. Immediately greeted and seated, with fresh warm chips and authentic salsa. Literally moments later our appetizer of Esquite was flowing out of the dish, and delicious. And again moments later our lunch, which blew my mind. I'm at Sam's club twice a week.
