I'm not trying to be rude, the staff is really sweet. But my lord, you know when people send compliments to the chef? I wish I could the opposite. I generally don't understand how this place has more than 2 stars. The 'salsa' was straight up hot sauce. Everything about being here was just not at all great. This place was awesome! We were seated as soon as we walked in and had great service the whole time. Our server Cole was friendly and attentive. The food was awesome! My partner and I were eager to try this place because we were burned out on everything else around here. Service was really good, our server was really friendly and got everything out to us in a super quick manner, even on the busy night we came in. I had gotten the chile relleno and an enchilada, and they were really good. In both of the items I got, the flavor was there, and it definitely made up for the smaller portions of beans and rice, which might be the only issue I would have with this place. Delicious, first time here. We usually go to Salsa Brava but they were closed. Had the Agave Burrito, the mole was amazing. Never had it on a burrito, added that little bit of spectacular to spruce it up. Grilled onions and peppers were plentiful and cooked to perfection. Del Mar Burrito was also outstanding, tilapia and shrimp was delicious and a lot of it. Very happy with our meals, this will be our new go to place for Mexican food in Flagstaff. read more

We are from Tucson and consider ourselves to be Mexican cuisine aficionados (Mexican food snobs). This place has the equivalent of cafeteria-style Mexican food from high school. I think Taco Bell is a step up from this place. Sadly, this restaurant was highly recommended to us and we have no idea why. We are a little baffled right now. The furniture and ambience is pleasant when it comes to Mexican-style restaurants so that was good. The food however had a really small portions and strange tastes. It's really hard to get beans wrong, but these did not taste anything even equivalent to that of canned beans from the grocery store. We ordered beef and chicken and think we got tuna and canned chicken. The chips were also stale, but at least the salsa was fairly good. We also asked about certain foods that should be on Mexican restaurant menus and they had no idea what we were talking about. All in all, we would skip this place unless you have no other choice for food. The beer was good also! read more

We had not checked this place out before today. Located in a bit of a weird spot. Sat down for lunch and was quite surprised at how large and well decorated the restaurant is. Chile Verde is my go to dish when eating at a Mexican restaurant for the first time. They nailed it! All fresh ingredients. My wife's chicken enchilada was loaded with chicken and was also very tasty. We will be back to try more dishes!!! read more

Very nice servers and hosts, nice atmosphere but food was meh. I think we were spoiled from eating at El Tapatito two days before and the food there was sooooo flavorful. We chose to go here because my daughter is an NAU student and was doing a 30 day vegetarian stint for one of her classes. They had a decent amount of vegetarian meals in their menu - we ordered 2 of them and 2 meat containing meals they were all good! The restaurant itself is very charming, lots of space, and our server was great. We go to Flagstaff often and would definitely go back to Agave! read more

Staff and servers were friendly and kind. Decor was pleasant. However, as other reviewers have mentioned the food was rather bland. I got their lunch special chimichanga and the meat inside was flavorless. The most prominent flavors were the tomatoes and onion in the scoop of guacamole that came on the side. The side of rice tasted okay. Other people at my table tried different dishes as well and they agreed it was flavorless. I feel bad leaving a low rating, but I honestly wouldn't recommend eating here since there's better options available nearby. read more

We had an engagement party at a campsite south of Flagstaff so we contacted Agave in hopes of putting together a celebration meal for 25 people. Cristina was very helpful and we ordered up a taco bar with beef, chicken, and ground beef, based on Cristina's suggestion. We arrived at the arranged pick up time and Cristina had taken extra care to package the items for travel on a bumpy dirt road. The food and all the fixings was fresh and delicious. Many commented on the interesting ground beef when dishing up a second helping. Thanks to the staff at Agave and especially Cristina for sharing in our great celebration. read more
