My wife and I were in town for a long weekend/birthday celebration. We sought out recommendations and checked Yelp for suggestions prior to coming. While staying at the Cambria Seaport on Broadway we found Avavero. What a great place and kind of crazy this place wasn't busier. If you're looking for some great margaritas, and authentic Mexican food go no further. Right at the T stop on the Red Line on Broadway. I personally was looking for something different and found Posole(Pork Stew) on the menu and gave it a try. Wow just wow. There was great depth and body to the stew like it has been cooking for hours. We also enjoyed their queso dip, chips and salsa which are offered when you sit down. The Margaritas were delicious and had great taste. We both started with flights and then ordered another each I loved the watermelon in the flight and my wife ordered another spicy agave margarita. Our server/bartender Ruben was great and professional. We had placed ourselves in a difficult seat at the bar with a large concrete pillar(it was decorated to look better) but it clearly made serving us difficult.m but he handled it well. The restaurant was lively with great decor including two large trees in the middle of the dining room. This is a must stop if you are in the South End or are just looking for another great restaurant in town.

Agavero is a must try in Southie! They just opened up and I've been keeping an eye on them for some time now. So excited to see them finally open and a great location being at the end of Broadway right next to the T. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. A gorgeous tree in the middle, beautiful mural art on the wall, and other decorations that make for really nice touches. I had the house margarita which was delicious. Queso fundido to start as an appetizer. The cheese was so good. I tried the gobernador tacos and the gringo tacos with ground beef. The gobernador was delicious shrimp and very spicy, so watch out if you don't like spice. The gringo was nice but I'd probably opt for one of their other options next time. Service was friendly and very attentive. It's their first night and they were doing great. They also serve you salsa and chips to start which is the best and not as common these days. Highly recommend trying them out! Great addition to the neighborhood.

Agavero was walking distance from our hotel so we figured why not. It's relatively new and at the time of this review the business was still unclaimed on Yelp, not sure why that made me skeptical, but it did haha. The reviews were solid though, so we gave it a shot. The ambiance is really nice. Super cute space, good energy. Staff was friendly and welcoming, which always makes a difference. The food was good, nothing out of this world, but good. It had that home-y vibe to it. I probably would've rated it a 5... but the most important item (guac) was underwhelming. And that's hard to ignore. It was pretty bland on its own. TIP: save some of the salsa and mix it into the guac, it helps a lot. We enjoyed it overall, but I'm not sure I'd go back specifically for the food. The drinks though? So good. We ordered the Tóxica and it was amazing, ended up going for a second round. If I'm back in the Southie area, I'd definitely return for drinks.

I'm excited to have this spot on the neighborhood! The meals I've had there have been so good! The leftovers, heat up so good! And the drinks... are so good! I saw another table order some fun drinks and I was very jealous by how cool they looked. So of course I ordered a Sugar Mami. Which was this amazing big pink margarita with a prossecco bottle in it. I wish I was an Instagram influencer because this place deserves to be well known. My favorite dishes so far are the taquitos and the Aloha Fajitas. My bf basically licked his plate clean from his buritto. Service wise I'll say the staff is super friendly and helpful and even remembered me on my second visit. I definitely will return, and I definitely recommend!

Made a reservation for 7 people for a 7:30pm Birthday Dinner directly through the restaurants website. Once arrived and mentioned said reservation you can immediately see the hostess shock and scramble to find a seating. Was sat in a tight booth with a chair in the back of the restaurant. Having to dodge staff members with hot food orders due to the tight spacing. Almost hidden and not able to see most of any decorations and beauty the restaurant is known for. Very disappointed with our seating placement and arrangement. The restaurant was extremely packed, and the host was very apologetic. Claimed that the reservation aspect of the restaurant is still a work in progress. The Food was great, and drinks were good. The prices are good ! I do suggest, if making a reservation call ahead of time to make sure there is proper seating arrangements for your party. Over all would go back again.

We've never seen sizzling enchiladas on a menu so we decided to try them - one steak and one chicken. They were delicious - and served in a sizzling cast iron platter ala fajitas! My better half especially liked the caramelized onions. Chips and salsa and a refreshing mango marg rounded out this nice meal in Southie.

Wow! Cancun or southie I couldn't tell! This place really does the job, when you need good Mexican this is the place you have to go. The Mamacita literally knocked me out my seat! The fajitas burrito stuffed my like a stuffed shell. The service? Well let me tell ya they make sure you are all set. The atmosphere? Electric. If you are in the area you need to check out this great local spot.

OH... MAI... GAWD! The food is PHENOMENAL! So flavorful. Not spicy for me, a person who can't handle spicy food. The portion size is just right to enjoy each part of the meal. Just right. Reasonable prices. Relaxing atmosphere. Great service. I'd gove this 6 stars if I could, just wow

The best meal we've had in a long time. I was so impressed by the service and quality of food. It was so good and so authentic, we will be back!!

    Delicious mojito!!

Service was excellent, mojito was delicious and burrito was fantastic. Definitely recommend, authentic.

    surf n turf tacos

Everything here was 5 stars, the service, food and drinks. I'll definitely be back soon.

    Chips and salsa!

The food was great and the drinks were on point!! Service was amazing and the atmosphere fun, but not too loud! Great spot!!!

The environment makes it easy to meet new people, and soon we were all chatting away, enjoying the music and the ambiance. Our server was great. Walking into the restaurant, no one was there to greet us and there was no host stand. Finally, a server (who also turned out to be our server) told us to pick where we wanted to sit. We chose a four-top table. When it was time to order, we were dealing with a limited menu. I chose lobster quesadillas, which were listed under "appetizers". My husband chose the fish and chips. The quesadilla was sloppily made. Some pieces had hardly any cheese or lobster in them. Other pieces were overloaded with lobster and cheese. While it was all edible and the lobster was properly cooked, it still was underwhelming. My husband said the fish was well prepared, flaky and crispy at the same time. There were too many French fries, making the plate a bit messy. In a pinch, Capiz did fit the bill as we didn't feel like going far for a meal that day.
