I hate to complain right now since we are in the midst of a quarantine, but since this order was expensive for what we had (almost $80) PLUS a $5.99 delivery fee, i felt compelled to speak out. The Margherita pizza, was cold, like its been sitting in a fridge cold, plus it looked old like it's been sitting around all day. NOT fresh by any means. The chicken Caesar salad was also not good, the lettuce was brown and droopy, i had to give it to my dogs (the enjoyed it). The arancini was also nothing great, dry and looked like it came from the frozen food section. If you can't deliver quality that's one thing, but at least adjust your pricing. read more

My go-to pizza place in Montclair, and tied with Forte (just because of their amazing Bruschetta pizza) as my favorite pizza restaurant in New Jersey. My favorite pizza is the Pizze di Montclair, a vegetarian white pizza with truffle oil and porcini mushrooms that is great every time I order it. The capricciosa is my favorite meat-filled option. The thin crust of all of their pizzas is surprisingly (and wonderfully) doughy and has a pleasant, not overbearing, char from the brick oven. All of their salads are extremely fresh and dressings are usually very good, though sometimes the lettuce is overdressed. Pastas and appetizers range from mediocre to great. The calamari is just OK but I really enjoyed the fried polenta appetizer. The pizzas are individual-sized and are up to $18, so it's not cheap, but for the quality I think that it's worth it. DO NOT EAT there they have mice! My husband and I ate close to closing time last night , while paying my bill I saw a mouse run right into the kitchen. Oh my goodness! I started to freak out because of course we had just consumed food and now my anxiety started to get the best of me. I told the waitress, who then asked the kitchen staff and I could see them laughing about the situation. I'm assuming the kitchen staff has seen mice before in the facility. I have called the Montclair health inspector as something needs to be done for rodent control especially in a food facility. What a delightful surprise this place was. First time trying door dash (delivery service) and came across this restaurant. So glad we gave them a try, we ordered rigatoni vodka, goat cheese croquettes, and a Bianco pizza. Everything was amazing! I am a fan of Ah Pizz. I've been here 3 times with groups between 5-8. I think it's a great place to order family style. We usually do a few pizzas and a few pastas to share. Since the groups I go with typically order in that fashion, I have had a good amount of items on the menu. I think the pizzas and pastas are great. The only pastas I don't really like are the red sauced ones. Those are just okay. I understand the other remarks regarding price point; however, that is what you expect at a restaurant like this. I feel like because of the atmosphere and other menu items, it should be expected to have a pricey meal. That's just my opinion though. Not much to comment on the staff. The service I experience isn't exceptional, but it's not bad either. NJ's Elite Neopolitan They are serious about pizza, probably as much integrity as Di Fara's or Sal of Soho, with not a possibility of offering less than what they believe is true pizza. Many ingredients are imported from Naples like the cheese, flour and olive oil, and their preparation is of the VPN designation - which keeps them at a verity on how pizza is supposed to be made. Robert Cino, co-owner and head pizzaiolo, is someone special; he trained under Naples pizza pro Enzo Coccia and worked at a few pizzerias in Italy for 6 months to fine tune his craft. One of the things most people don't talk about here is the quality and amount of cheeses on staff. This was our second time eating here. Food was great both times. Service this time left a lot to be desired. Our waitress barely made eye contact and didn't feel the need for any pleasantries whatsoever. We are super friendly and laid back and usually like to engage with our waitress. This time, however, it felt like there was no point in trying. But I will not be going to this restaurant anymore after my experience tonight. Our rice ball was served to us cold. In search of something good to eat, my wife and I stopped in here looking for something delicious. It's advertised as wood fired pizza. We love crispy wood fired pizza so In we go. We ordered a house salad to share as we were told it's big enough. An Arancino(rice ball) and a Margherita pizza with Kalamata olives. The house salad was good. The rice ball was big and crispy however the middle was cold as the cheese wasn't even melted. Now for the pizza. Not crispy and like warm. It was also quite soggy. The chesse looked like it was a sliced block of poly-o mozzarella that was barely even shown the fire. Cheese should not just flop off the pizza in its pre cooked form yet there it was on my plate as such. The olives were at least tasty yet solid and not crushed as it should be. Also, there was part of a pit still in one so, that was fun. The wait staff was good although a bit over zealous removing plates. I was visiting a friend in the area and he decided oh Ah' Pizz for dinner. I split the fig pizza with one other person which was perfect between two young female adults. We didn't have any left overs. I thought the pizza was so good! I loved the crust which was a little smoked from the oven but not too burnt. The staff was very nice but the service was a little slow. So, I'm hanging out with my favorite person on the planet; fixing her door, about to watch Machete, and I want pizza. I've heard great things about Ah'Pizz, and it's ridiculous that I haven't been there yet as it is so ridiculously close to me. Called to see how late they're open: 11:00 pm. That's later than most spots in the area, and as the time was approaching 10:00, it gave me more time to fix this door without rushing. Note: Ah'Pizz doesn't deliver, and you can't call in an order for pickup (basically the pizze cooks up fast in their wood-burning oven, and they don't want you arriving to pick up a cold pizze.) Not a big deal as I'm barely 2 blocks away. Perused their on-line menu; so many great things, but we narrowed our decision down to the Mezza Luna ( 1/2 Margherita pizze with Calamata Olives and 1/2 Calzone with Fresh Ricotta, Fresh Mozzarella, Sausage and Peppers) and the Ah'Pizz Insalata (Arugula, Fig Goat Cheese, Cherry Tomatoes with a Balsamic Vinaigrette.) How amazing does that sound, right? We walk over, and the place is empty aside from one small group; not surprising as it was a quiet night in Montclair tonight. Nicolette came over to us as soon as we came in and greeted us. I gave our order and she passed it along as we took a seat at the counter to wait and watch as our Mezza Luna was prepared. I looked around and the place has a really nice aura. Dimly lit, candles, exposed brick; this would be a great place for a date. They bring out our insalata as we wait. My friend could not resist delving into the fig goat cheese while we waited, and after I tasted it, oowee, I understand why. Sweet cheesus god bless that fig-eating goat, 'cause that was some amazing cheese, not to mention the vinaigrette - best I've ever tasted. Seriously. No, seriously. We watched as the guy rolled out the fresh dough and created this thing of wonder; half pizze, half amazing. I mean calzone. Half pizze, half calzone. What a great idea. Slid it in the oven, put in a fresh chunk of wood, and within a couple minutes it was done, and we were on are way to see some Machete. We knocked off the rest of the insalata - amazing, and then this pizze/calzone. This was really good pizze. And a really good calzone. This review is limited to just the customer service. We were a group of 4. It was a sat nite and St. Patrrick's Day. Last table served is 10:30. We arrived at around 9:30 and the place was empty. From the moment we walked in i felt they were trying to rush us out the door. Unfortunately for us, this feeling became a stark reality as the evening went on. The level of rudeness was apparent as both waitresses watched us eat like hawks and then wisked away our plates. Then they advised the kitchen "turned off the coffee machine" and then proceeded to never even ask if we wanted dessert. Naturally, when the bill came the tip needed to reflect the service, which in our opinion was 10%. The highlight of the evening came upon when we left. While standing in the parking lot and calling it a night, our waitress opened the rear door and yelled at us as she didn't appreciate the tip. Had dinner with a few friends here and was very pleased. We had a Caesar salad to start (salads can be done family style) which was good. I ordered the Carciofi pizza, which has fresh mozzarella, artichoke hearts and kalamata olives. Very good! Super cheesy and the crust was cooked perfect. Well done around the edges but soft enough to fold while eating. Our server was very friendly and the atmosphere is cozy with brick walls and the wood burning pizza oven. Amazing all around. We started out with the fried calamari, fried mozzarella , and the goat cheese and ham balls. The food came out quick, hot and exceeded all expectations. For dinner I had the Mont Clare Special pizza and had them sub the Roma tomatoes for sausage and this pizza was one of the best I have ever had in Jersey. There was also so much sausage on the pizza I was shocked. Definitely no skimping here. Other diners at our table had the chicken parmigiano and it looked like 2 huge chicken breasts on top of pasta. The portions were definitely reflective of a true Italian eatery. There was also the vodka sauce pasta which I got to try and it was really good too. Again, huge portions. For dessert they make a s'mores pizza. They take a pizza dough, fill it with chocolate Nutella, cover it with crushed graham crackers and marshmallows and put it back in the pizza oven for a few minutes. We went to this place several times over the past year, because we liked the pizza, the style reminded us of Italian and the specials were good. But I will never be back now, and it is due to service. The waitress was bordering on rude but never direct. We ordered, my family of six including my Asian parents-in-law, and while we ate she stood three feet away on a step and watched us like a hawk with her arms folded. I have never in my life felt as uncomfortable in a restaurant situation as I did, and being the person I am I wondered if i had ever done something to offend her. Nope... I always tip 20%. Then maybe I hypothesized that she had something against Asians, given my extended family. I don't know what it was, but if it weren't for the automatic 20% tip due to a party of six, plus the point that I didn't want my p-in-law to see me upset, I would have asked to see the manager about it. We left, and she never offered dessert nor said a single word to us as we walked out the door. Not a smile, not a kind word. I will NEVER be back here. Given their overpriced pizzas I calculate that that waitress has lost them a good few hundred dollars a year in revenue. Additionally, this experience caused me to re-evaluate our eating experience as well and I was forced to admit that the pizzas were both a bit soggy as well as being burned (black) crusty on the surface a few times. I will search for a better place, and with sadness bid goodbye to this place. I read through all of the reviews on Google, Yelp, Urbanspoon just to see if I was nuts and I'm not. My favorite gluten free pizza in the Montclair area. Ah'Pizz is our standby - nice atmosphere, good food at a reasonable price, easy to get a table and never a problem finding parking. Pastas are good too. Salads are really great and huge, making them perfect for sharing. I have probably been back a dozen times over the last few years and never tire of their menu. They always have the best specials - especially the butternut squash pizza when its seasonal. Service can be inconsistent. We went here for late lunch after a painting party at Pinot's Palette right around the block. We were a party of 17 without a reservation. The place looked empty. They would not sit us together but sat us in the general vicinity of each other. Most of us had the luch specials (7 days a week from 11a-4pm I think). I had the Il Bambino which is Margherita Pizza with a side salad (I had the insalata which is lettuce-tomato- onion-salad). The salad was fresh (it was brough out AFTER my pizza but I attribute it to having to bring out about 15 soup/salad combinations at the same time). No, you know what? That should have been the easiest thing to get right. If you have a large table, take their orders, bring their drinks in one round, bring their 'apps' in another round and their 'entrees' in another. The guy was a little rude as if he didnt want to serve a big table. Dude! It's 17 people ordering food. You cant get better than that. His section was full when the rest of the restaurant wasnt.
