ABSOLUTELY THE BEST POKE IN SAN DIEGO. It's sooooooo good, I had to stop and yelp. I'm not even close to finishing my bowl yet, but I needed to share my experience!! Large portions, high quality ingredients, and super fresh fish!! The large is $12 bucks and you get your money's worth. You will have leftovers. This is my 2nd time here and it was even better!!The staff is also super friendly and my girl this time really made me feel brand new with her recommendations. Thank you Bb! The attached photos are from two different times that I came here. The first time, I got a large bowl to go and literally had to take a photo while in the car. I also couldn't wait to eat it haha. Second time, I dined in and they stacked my bowl so high I felt high.

I ordered the regular bowl (with 2 scoops of protein) and got a scoop of salmon and a scoop of tuna and it was tiny. For the sauces, I felt like they barely put anything in so it tasted plain. I think the price is pretty high too....

I love this place because you can choose to get half salad half rice plus 2 scoops of fish and all the toppings. I love that they have seaweed salad. No complaints

Quick friendly service, food is good however they are a little stingy with the poke. Besides that I would recommend this place.

I revisited one of the first poke places that I had reviewed. The last time I came here, it was their grand opening. The promotional special was 50% off any bowl with the purchase of a drink. There are now so many more poke shops around town that it's hard to stand out from the pack. The price for a large bowl is now $14.45 which is a $2.50 increase from their initial price point. If only our wages would rise 20% over a span of fewer than three years (wishful thinking). You still receive only three scoops of protein compared to five scoops offered in a large bowl at some competitors. I did note that the kimchi shrimp and tuna luau were unique ingredients that I have not seen elsewhere. Other than that, the experience was worth a three star rating.

For poki bowl eateries in SD, I would say my favorite is Poki 1 & 1/2, then this comes second, and SD poki Co. comes last. Pros: they have more variety in fish meat to choose from, as well as other types of plates with meat proteins like chicken and eel and spam musubi. Fresh. Portions are good. They have tasty sauces to choose from to put on your poki bowl. I like their passion fruit mango drink. Con: slightly pricier than Poki 1 & 1/2 (ahi poki has $10 for choice of 2 fish meat bowls, and avocado costs extra, whereas Poki 1 & 1/2 is $8.00, avocado included).

Spam musubi- taste straight like fish, disgusting. Guava drink- taste like sugar no guava, had to dump the entire drink. I do not recommend this place whatsoever. What a waste of $25

Delicious POKe. I ordered the small bowl. You can pick what you want on your bowl. And the sauces you want in it. I tried it for the first time and the gentlemen that was there helped me out service is good. Very clean spot. I liked it a lot and will try again soon. They also have a macaroons ice cream sandwiches YuMmmmmm!!! Love them

Large bowl to go with tuna and half salad half brown rice

I love poke. In fact, I could probably eat it almost everyday without getting sick of it. Ahipoki is the closest place to my home to get fresh poke. It is decent, but not my favorite. I have been there three times so far. Like most poke places, you pick your base (salad or rice), your fish, your sauces and your toppings. They do have a lot of choices here, including mango, which is nice. However, here they give you two scoops of fish for a regular size and three for a large. Most places give you three scoops for a regular and five for a large. Well, I love fish and always order a large at this place in order to have my usual three scoops, which makes it more expensive, and gives me a lot of other toppings I really don't want. Also, here, things like yellowtail and avocado cost extra. Some other places they do not charge extra. Finally, as this is a relatively new poke spot for me, I was asking questions about the sauces. The worker did not seem terribly interested and also said she didn't know what some of the sauces were. I thought it was odd that she expected me to just play a guessing game. Anyway, this place is A-OK, but not great...so 3 stars it is!

After living in Hawaii for a while, I may be a bit picky about poke. But sometimes you have to love the one you're with-so I went in to Ahi Poke. The restaurant is In the front of a shopping center on Rosecrans at Sports Arena. It is next to a Noodle & Company and there is a Petsmart in the back. When I walked in I noticed the tables and floor was very clean. I entered and immediately noticed that the floor and tables were very clean. The order line is to the right as you come in. The counters with the fish and toppings also looked really clean and very neat. The menu board gives many choices. You pick your protein, then rice (white or brown) or salad, sauce and then toppings. They were nice and let me taste the tuna before ordering. I asked for the sauce on the side so I could really check it out. It smelled fresh and had a good taste. So I selected the tuna for my protein with steamed rice with a sauce of soy, garlic and sesame oil (?) and toppings of seaweed salad, crab salad, pickled red onions and then a good sprinkling of black sesame seeds. The tuna was delicious. Again, I asked for the sauce on the side to control how much was used. It was good for a touch on the tuna and made the rice more tasty too. The crab was delicious and the pickled onions were also good. My favorite was the seaweed salad. It was crunchy and had a great flavor. The sesame seeds on top added a wonderful crunch and flavor. I highly recommend Ahi Poke. The food is fresh and flavor is very good.

Having been away from home for 10 days and not having poke for 10 days, I was craving some really bad!!! Luckily we came across this place bc it did not disappoint. Service was great! I got to sample the spicy tuna and the tuna luau and both were really good. I decided on those for my large poke bowl (which included 3 scoops. So I got 2 scoops of their tuna luau which also had some avocado, onion, and their house sauce), and 1 scoop of the spicy tuna. I opted for half brown rice and half salad as my base. The toppings are great, as you can choose all if you would like! I got edamame, green onions, red onion, crab, hard boiled egg, furikake, wasabi, and crispy onions. The large poke bowl was $11.95 which was a good deal for the amount of food I got. My husband had a salmon bowl which he enjoyed and I didn't get a picture of because he dug in to it too fast, lol!! Would def come back again when we're in San Diego!

Hey Yelpers! Visit: May 31st 6:30 pm I am extremely disappointed in this place. I was excited since this place had 4 stars at least... Sadly this place is no where near 4 stars. Staff/Cleanliness: First off this place was not busy when we came in and there was TWO workers. I've been to poke shops that have only had one person working the whole place and I received cleaner and better service at those other poke shops. This place had a dirty food preparation space, unorganized, unprepared, and careless customer service. Please hire new employees, that care and respect their job. Food Issues: Second they were out of three different proteins, out of WHITE RICE, out of masago, one half of an avocado left over. OVERCHARGED: Third since they were out of majority of their menu, it would've been nice to received avocado with no charge... Instead they double charged me for two orders off avocado. Clearly, I only received one order of avocado. Overly Priced: This place is the absolute worst poke place I've ever been too. Way over priced, a large bowl only contains 3 scoops of protein. Containers are very small. Food Taste: I was excited because besides all of that, the food looked good in the to go containers.... Wow, the crab meat tasted expired. The organic salad tasted like they did not prewash it before serving. I ended up throwing it out, I could not handle the taste anymore. Parking:Yes Staff: Horrible Recommend: NO, Will not be going back.

I love poki!!! Decided to stop at this spot before even seeing the reviews which I loved to see what I saw from the get go! Didn't know exactly how the process was l, but encountered 2 friendly ladies more than willing to explain the building process. Once I had chosen my fish, it was time for the toppings, they stack the plates nicely and I like the way they help each other. The bowl looked and tasted fantastic!! The place is clean and it's simply great! This was my first time here and it will not be the last. Eating healthy and delicious food is the idea. Really liked all the options for my bowl and also. Thanks for the great job you guys are doing :)

It was our first time there. The stuff with glasses was very aggressive and bad attitude with us. My friend was order large order but she got regular size it's seem like she doesn't want to serve us a food !!!! BAD EXPERIENCES!!!!!!

I'm not sure whether the perceived fishy, mushy character of their fish was enhanced by the very pungent smell of wet, rotting fish emanating throughout the restaurant. In fact, the odor was prevalent upon walking in and throughout dinner itself. The boyfriend and I noticed that they were cooking their whole salmon and eel dishes out in the open, however, the smell of wet fish and cooked fish are different and should not be that noticeable. I happened to pick at my boyfriend's bowl only, but his large poke bowl with 3 scoops of protein at $11.95 was rather small; more a size of a regular at another poke joint. As mentioned, it seemed too fishy to me. One interesting selection for their fish was their *Tuna Luau*. I guess this is their prepped poke selection which already includes slices of avocado. If you don't want to pay $1 extra for a side of avocado, get this to cheat the system. In addition to the bowl, a Thai tea ($3.50) was also forced upon me by the ever too kind boyfriend. I did not like how the worker encouraged it even though I said I did not want one after sampling it and noticing how watery and tasteless it was. A big maybe 22oz cup of this was just as bland and watered down.

I like Poke, and I am one of those who is really pleased that many poke shops continue to open up around town. I decided on the regular two scoop bowl featuring tuna and salmon as my protein with a variety of toppings including avocado which I gladly paid a dollar extra for. The bowl came with a good amount of tuna and salmon. Both were very tasty and of decent quality. I did think the salmon did offer more of that velvety rich texture. The krab salad was fresh and so were the fresh cut cucumbers, onions, and edamame. My base was brown rice and it was well prepared. All the topping were great, but my favorite were the avocado and seaweed salad. I like the way they slices and fanned out the avocado, which was perfect ripe, and the seaweed had great flavor and a good crunch. I went for the garlic and soy sauce which was not to overbearing. Service was very good and very upbeat. Their prices are right in line with most of their competition. The bowl cost $9.95 plus and extra $1 for the avocado.

My favorite poke place to go to! I have tried a lot of poke places but this place is definitely my favorite! I love the blazing sauce and the fish always tastes fresh! My experience was very underwhelming and only got worse. The staff was unwelcoming. No hello or thank you. Just took my order and my payment. They were out of white rice (how on earth?) The fish didn't look great but I gave them the benefit of doubt. Got a regular bowl with the blazing salmon and tuna around 1 pm today. Toppings looked fine: got cucumber, scallions, seaweed salad and sesame seeds. The taste wasn't horrible, but wasn't good by any means. By 2:30 I was hunched over with food poisoning, sick to my stomach. I will not be going back. If you do go, I suggest asking how fresh the fish is so you don't end up like me. read more

Pretty awesome, fresh, healthy, and delicious place to get a salad made with yummy goodness. Been here twice and the food has been great! I've had quite a few poke bowls in my life, so I know when I've had a decent bowl. This places exceeded my expectations, and have earned the 5 stars I've giving. This unassuming shop has great variety of fish, with well cooked rice and tons of toppings, from the usual cucumbers and imitation crab to the more interesting edamame, crispy onions, and tamago. Their tuna luau is a great blend of tuna, avocado, onions, and garlic soy sauce. Their eel is also great, the portions are large, and I highly recommend the guava juice or Thai tea for a drink. Overall, a great place. Keep it up! read more

We came in search of some good poke and succeeded! I came with intentions of only getting salmon. But I saw that Tuna Luau concoction and decided to do both. All the ingredients tasted fresh and I was stoked on how much two scoops turned out to be. Plus all the extras. I was definitely satisfied with my meal. Very very pricey for this portion and quality. I had a large plate which didn't even fill me up. I could have gone to homestyle Hawaiian to get a large plate of poki and two scoop of rice for less than what I paid today at ahipoki. The food is alright, nothing amazing. The girls that greeted me were super friendly!!! The atmosphere was pretty much the same as others I ha e been at! The food was fresh like it always is! Every bite was magnificent. The large poke bowl was a healthy portion. I was stuffed but there was more to eat and I wanted to keep eating. All the flavors combined nicely. Great place. The food was fresh an well presented. The customer service was excellent. We obviously had never been there before and immediately we were told how it worked and what was popular. They gave great recommendations for both food and drinks. We don't live in San Diego but we hope they open a store in our town! I really recommend this place for a quick lunch or dinner. First off I am so happy this place is finally open! And it definitely did not disappoint. The staff was friendly, the place was clean, and they had great options for toppings! I got a regular bowl with salmon and tuna and it was definitely fresh. And for an avocado lover like myself, they were very generous on the avocado!! So far for all of the poke places in SD. This is my favorite! The prices are good for the portions that you get. The food is fresh. There are a lot of toppings and everything tastes really good. Staff is also friendly. I'm happy there is a poke place in this area. read more

This place is so addicting! I go here at least once a week and I've never had a bad experience. The bowls always come with heaps of toppings and the fish always tastes fresh. I've been meaning to try new combinations to mix it up, but I'm so hooked on my usual order, which is the salmon and tuna with the house sauce and basically every topping. It sounds pretty simple, but I don't think I'll ever get bored of it. read more

I love AhiPoki! The fish is fresh and they give very generous portions. You get the option for white rice, brown rice, salad, or half and half which is awesome. The regular size gets you two scoops of your choice of fish and the large size gets you three generous scoops. I got the regular size and it was more than enough to fill me up! Aside from that, there are tons of toppings to choose from: ginger, edamame, seaweed, green onion, red onion, all the different sauces, mango and so much more! Great customer service too! I will definitely be going back soon! read more

This place is has the best ahi poke bowls in San Diego!! We come to the area just for the bowls. Always plenty of good and the seafood is very fresh!!! Very tasty!! The amount of food hardly fits in the containers but we manage to work around that!! read more

Extremely disappointing poke joint. Ordered a large poke bowl for delivery from here and it was almost all rice with about 3 bites of fish. The rice was not even quality and was very dry, clumpy and just tasted old... The salmon was good quality but the scallops tasted like they have been frozen way too long and the octopus is sliced into paper thin miniscule cuts. So many better places to choose from! Go anywhere else. read more

Pretty pricey, but fish tasted fresh. I don't think I've been to a poke place that charges extra for yellowtail and avocado. I feel like that's a rip off, especially since a regular bowl only has 2 scoops vs most places that have 3 scoops. I would've given this place 2 stars based on the pricing, but because of freshness and good customer service from the employees, 4 stars it is. However, I don't think I will return to this place again unless the prices will drop lower. read more

Pretty good ahi poke bowls... the only complaint I have is playing rap music on a Saturday Ja Rule play list on the radio... hearing f-bombs, b-bombs and about girls going down on guys... that shouldn't be played in a store..... sorry -2 stars for that. I would never bring my kids here. read more

I've been to other poki places and never really been happy so I always said I don't like poki but I recently came here and I actually liked it. Everything was fresh and I liked the different sauces that they have. I feel it's a bit in the pricey side but overall everything is good. read more

We were in the area looking for sushi and drove by this place. I was happy to see the high ratings on Yelp so we decided to take a chance. The inside is small, probably sits 60 people at most. The food is displayed behind a glass wall cafeteria style. You choose what you want in a bowl. We had rice with ahi, salmon and veggies. Their selection is very good and the ingredients were fresh and tasted delicious. We will definitely go back. read more

I started coming here a week ago the food is OK I feel like it's a little pricey for lunch is usually around $18 with the drink but the main part here is the service is very terrible especially from the girl that wears the cap with the ponytail. If you don't like your job work elsewhere. read more

Staff has stepped it up, polite and professional. Really great healthy food. A little pricey on the egg and avacado adders, but either way well worth it. You can get out of there for under $20 regardless. I really like that they added octopus to a scoop option and they seem to keep the tuna and salmon fresh which is very important with raw fish. This place has become one of my favorite spots for a quick healthy lunch and has improved to FIVE stars! read more

This is my new favorite poke place and I hit it everytime I'm in Point Loma now. The fish and toppings are all very fresh, and they have ponzu (they call it sweet citrus) and spicy mayo (they call it spicy creamy) which makes for the perfect balance in flavors. They top if off with some crispy onions and it's delish! We go there after a workout or playing tennis and it hits the spot! read more

Came in at about 3:00 and it wasn't busy. The customer service here is dry as hell. They don't say hello or thank you. It doesn't hurt to smile either. They both look like they hate their job. Come on, it's not that hard, I work at Starbucks. Fake it til you make it guys. Y'all can do better. The food here is bomb though! All of us wanted shrimp today apparently, so my dad and I both got a shrimp taco with lemon garlic butter & my hungry mom got the shrimp platter also with lemon garlic butter. The platter came with 8 shrimp, jasmine rice, and a lovely, fresh garden salad. The server who took our order and brought it out to us was very helpful & nice. They have a ton of fresh seafood on offer though so if shrimp is not your thing, there will likely be another delightful offering from the sea that will suit your fancy. We sat in the side patio area and it was very pleasant. We enjoyed our experience this evening very much! The tacos were big and had more than 5 shrimp in them, plus cabbage, pico, cheddar cheese & white sauce. One taco was pretty decently sized. If I'd been hungrier, two tacos would've been perfect, but today, I was happy with one taco. Yum! Mom enjoyed her platter. It was beautifully prepared. Blue Water also has a decent soft drink selection and beers and wine, but we all just had their water and it was very refreshing! :) By the time we left at 5:45, a line was forming out the door, so we really came out at a good time. She didn't make us feel rushed despite the growing line behind us (we were truly trying to hurry, though, because of it). If you like sashimi, get their sashimi appetizer! We haven't been able to find a good place for sashimi since we moved to Southern California 5 years ago. Don't get me wrong, we've gotten good sashimi, but not cut thick & with good quality that is worth the price like this place. The price wasn't even as high as many of the other sashimi places we've tried! They give you only 2 fish choices on the plate, however. They have listed about 5 or 6 different kinds, but it depends on what is available. We had salmon & tuna. Salmon is my favorite, but their tuna was fantastic! First time I can say I may have liked it better than the salmon!! Their other dishes we had were also yummy. My daughter loves scallops & they were cooked to perfection. I don't usually like scallops because most places cook them till they're rubbery. Not this place! My husband had swordfish & I had the sea bass. Both were also delicious, but I think they may have mixed up which plate went to which person. Good thing, as we were trying each others' food, my daughter noted the slight texture difference between the two (I hadn't had a chance to taste them yet). Interestingly, swordfish usually has a vastly different texture than bass, but here, they cook it so well, there wasn't a huge amount of difference! That says something since swordfish is usually very "meaty." If my daughter hadn't noticed, I wouldn't have complained even though I was looking forward to the bass. I like flakier fish. However, the bass wasn't as flaky as I anticipated, but both were so tender, the mix-up wasn't a deal breaker. I don't know how they season the rice, but YUM! Even though I'm Asian, I'm not one who usually eats the rice. It's usually just a filler for me, & since I don't eat much, I'd rather eat the "other stuff" & usually leave most of the rice. Not here! I almost couldn't get enough of it, lol! So good!! At the end, we needed boxes. We had to ask two different waitresses since the first one we asked never came with them. It's an "order at the register then find a table" type of place, so there wasnt any "service" to speak of. Be prepared to stand in line - this place is popular for a reason! All in all, it was simply wonderful. The hostess was very professional and welcoming and set the tone for our celebration. We were seated by a window to enjoy a beautiful, relaxing view of the bay which enhanced our experience. We were greeted promptly by Kyle who was our kind, knowledgeable, and patient server. He went over the complete menu and wine list with us and made suggestions when asked. We had the blackened chicken sandwich and the c level wagyu burger and both were terrific. The burger was cooked perfectly and went very well with the wine that was suggested. Kyle made the experience memorable for us and we hope to see him on our next visit. One thing to keep in mind is that the parking lot is pretty small, so I'd give yourself a little extra time in case you need to find parking nearby. They also have valet for $10 if that's easier.

The salmon was solid and I thought the fish quality was good. The sauce is similar to a spicy mayo and I didn't think it had much of a kick. The Pearl Harbor is tuna with a sweet, thick sauce (hoisin maybe?). I've had this flavor before at the other location but for some reason, it tasted off here. Also, the tuna didn't have that bounce of a fresh fish. Overall, salmon was good but maybe they were having an off day for the tuna. Hopefully it's not a recurring issue because I really want them to succeed. They're my favorite poke place in San Diego!

One couple was ready to leave when their food came out at that exact moment. The servers did apologize and told us that they were having issues with the kitchen. They also offered us all free orange juice. However, if they knew they were having issues with the kitchen then they should've told us earlier before we got seated so people could go elsewhere rather than waiting an hour for their food. Overall, service here was very poor. In terms of food, it was unfortunately pretty good but not worth the wait. I really liked the simple toast with matcha cream on top as well as the curry hamburg. My friend ordered the shakshuka (not pictured because it came last and everyone just wanted to eat at that point) which was also pretty good. For the avocado toast, the toast was too hard so I wouldn't recommend it. We also ordered a yuzu and matcha yuzu mimosa. Both tasted like yuzu. The matcha yuzu one was basically a green yuzu mimosa. They have a vero water purification system so their water was really good lol.

If you love Poke, this place is for you. They're prices are very reasonable and not too expensive, but you also want to make sure you're paying for what you're getting. When it comes to raw fish, you especially want it to be good quality otherwise you run the risk of getting sick, which isn't very much fun. Seating options are available and the tables are kept pretty clean. I especially like stopping here with friends on a hot day because the fish is cold and it kind of cools you down. Parking isn't very difficult either, but I'm not sure how the restrooms are. Staff is very friendly and nice! They have no problem helping you out and answering any questions you may have regarding the food. The prices are about $10 for the regular size which hooks you up with 2 scoops of fish, and my favorite fish is the albacore. Definitely try the octopus because its bomb:) read more

Me and my husband decided to try it for the first time, we love poke and just moved to the neighborhood. The website said it closed at 10pm. We got there at 9:35 and unfortunately the lady was cleaning and said they were closed because they needed to go home. Very disappointing. The good news is that Panda Express was just across the street and we knew that they would follow their hours. Got at Panda 9:55 and they didn't have the food we wanted ready to go.. the difference is that instead of sending us home they started cooking it. That's how a great costumer service is done. Layout - I really wanted to comment on this just because I thought it was pretty unique. It has a more modern wood layout. I think they are going for a somewhat ancient Chinese look which is awesome. This food is so tasty! The price is fair and it fills you up. It's build your own poki and they have lots of options of sea food (raw and cooked) as well as veggies and sauces. Definitely worth trying. read more

Love food here always great !yellowtail is an extra $1 but they were out when I was there. They had a mix of tuna with avocado which was very tasty. read more
