John came by in the evening at 5pm from West San Jose to my unit (30-45 mins drive) to inspect why the AC stopped working and after thorough diagnostics, confirmed I needed to replace the compressor fan motor and add a hard-start kit (as 1 was not installed). Amazing. For the first time in my life I had AC repairman coming in two hours on Saturday night (as opposed to usual two weeks) and fixing the blower motor at once. Not only that - John diagnosed the problem as gradual capacitor degradation and after measuring it and seeing it having only one third of specs capacity, which caused motor overheating, simply replaced the capacitor, eliminating the need to replace the motor and saving a ton of time and money. Our unit had a leak from not only our HVAC system but also from our plumbing. John was nice enough to let us know that we will need to turn off our water until a plumber could come and fix the pipe. My AC went out at 4pm and after calling 7 other "24 hour HVAC" companies who told me they wouldn't be able to get to me for a couple days, I called Jonathan and Nina at SVC. They came the same night and stayed until the morning hours to identify the problem and implement a fix. It required them to come back a few ours later due to the blower needing soaking for cleaning. Silicon Valley Comfort is the Best Best Best for dong any HVAC services including mini split system. To be honest, I have called so many different HVAC services and most of them lacked of the technical knowledge for Japanese Mini Split system. John and Nina always take an extra time to explain what could be a better way to install and suggest different options for the customer to save money. First time John and Nina came to look at my mini-split system, and I can tell they are an expert for installing it, no matter it is US version or Japanese. My mini-split system is 2-zone LG Japanese version, John and Nina are very patient and they carefully walked through my ADU (Accessory Dwelling Units like apartment) and give me their opinion/thoughts/option for installing it. John basically will guide you through what/how to do it for entire installation (requires Control Unit, Condensed, Lineset, Power Line, Water line etc.) and will explain the customer an option what the customer can do it them self to save money. With John's guideline, I was able to install 2 control units and run the linesets, powerlines and waterlines my self, and leave the rest for John to help to finish it. This saved me a lot of labor and money for this installation. John was even given me an extra lineset for free as one of my lineset was few feet short, very nice installation and works well. The installation was so great and good, but my mini-split system needs to be going through the city inspection. Unfortunately, my mini-split system was failed, it is not because of the installation or anything, it was that stupid building code that requires to use tamper resistant cap (locking cap) for the valve on the condense unit. And, I have very hard time to find the right size for my system, I tried many many different place, and still couldn't find it. And most people doesn't know what they are. I called John again for help, John and Nina were trying to help finding it, Nina tried to get me at least 2 times for the tamper resistant cap, but no success. John and Nina did not leave you alone, John and Nina was spending an extra time to help even though it is so hard to find. I met Nina at least twice and got different size of the caps, however none of them were fit for my system. Then, John came again with his big HVAC truck. At the beginning, John show me a lot of different size of the tamper resistant cap, but all of them are still too small. I can tell Japanese version of mini-split system is kind a hard to get the right size in US. But John didn't give up for helping, John spent extra almost an hour again to help me find the cap from his HVAC truck, luckily John found the right size for me finally and those were fit perfect for my system. NOTE: John and Nina were helping for Free after the installation, John even gave me those hard to find tamper resistant cap for free. John and Nina 's service are the BEST BEST BEST and I am very impressive for their service. Thank you John and Nina again. Fast, same-day service at a fair price! Our A/C stopped working last night, on the eve of multiple days of 95+ degree heat. I called multiple HVAC companies (including the company that installed our A/C), but no one answered or returned our calls last night or today. When I finally found SV Comfort on Yelp at around 8am today (Sunday), Nina immediately picked up and put me on the schedule for the day. They had a busy day and were running late, but they kept me up-to-date on the delays and were very apologetic. I appreciated that they kept me informed of the timing. John quickly diagnosed the problem and had the right spare part in his truck. While doing his work, he also discussed several ways to improve the HVAC setup in my house but, as another reviewer noted, he wasn't pushy at all. John installed a complete AC and heating system for me. He does excellent work. He is very thorough, pays close attention to detail, is easy to work with and his prices are competitive. The only downside is scheduling, since John is a one man company, sometimes the job previous to yours runs longer than anticipated which affects John's arrival time to your job. This wasn't an issue with me because I am retired and John and I agreed ahead of time that either of us could reschedule at the last minute. If you don't have that kind of luxury then you might want to include some kind of clause in the contract regarding arrival times, if the work requires more than one visit. read more

On a recent hot day we noticed the a/c not working and searched for a local company that could come out and take a look. We found Silicon Valley Comfort and were impressed with the many good reviews. When I called I got John to go through what was happening with our air conditioner. Quite to my amazement he guided me over the phone to look at several components and was able to diagnose the issue with the burned circuit board. Within 24hours he was able to get the specific board we needed and come to our house after hours to complete the repair. We first called SVC because our air conditioner was just blowing room temperature air, it ended up being completely full of pet hair and almost completely clogged. We were looking to update so it was a good excuse to do so. We ended up replacing the entire furnace and air conditioner. I am so happy we used SVC, not only did they install our new furnace, I asked them about the Nest thermostat. I went out a purchased one, and Nina installed it for me....she taught me how to use it and even showed me how I can control it on my phone. Of course my air conditioner stopped working during this heatwave on a Sunday. John was one of the very few companies with 24/7 service. As you can imagine, he was swamped with calls. When it became evident that he would be too busy to stop by on Sunday, he sent a portable air conditioner to my home so that I could get some relief. By the way, if you've never used a portable air conditioner, They work quite well, if not a little bit noisy. Last night around 830, Carlos stopped by on his way home from a very long day and was able to diagnose and fix my problem within 30 minutes. After 12 years of trying other A/C companies, Silicon Valley Comfort is the company I will depend on from now on, thank you Johnathan and Nina! My HVAC system was knocked out of commission by workers doing a home renovation. Oh no, my wife and I were facing a cold night in the Bay Area, something we did before and do not want to experience ever again. Unfortunately, it was after 5pm on a Friday night and the weekend before the Thanksgiving Holidays. The A/C company that installed our system was not available, so I started to call all other "24 Hour" companies. All I got was answer machines after 10? 20? tries, and those few that answered were not available within 24 hours. Johnathan answered on the second ring, and I was able to schedule my appointment that same night! When Johnathan and Nina arrived, they were kind, courteous, and professional. They both followed all protocols with masks and distancing in this state of Covid we are experiencing. I have a Bryant system and both Johnathan and Nina were familiar with my model and all the controls. Within 10 minutes of their arrival, Johnathan determined the problem was a blown fuse. Nina quickly reset all my original settings on my thermostat, and helped get my heat flowing again. What further impressed me with Johnathan and Nina was their confidence and knowledge about A/C systems and working with them in general. I have had my home since 2009 and have worked with two other professional companies for my HVAC system. Since 2009 I have had my home checked at least twice a year by these other companies. The other two companies did not point out that water leakage, or signs of water leakage, was an issue. After just a few minutes, Johnathan was able to spot that rust, or signs of previous water leakage as an issue. He said it could indicate a variety of problems and he recommended that they be addressed. Wow, after 12 years of twice-a-year maintenance checks and this was never pointed out to me. Johnathan caught this potential issue in a few minutes. Johnathan and Nina are a young couple, and I appreciate the passion and knowledge they have shown. After scheduling with another company for a broken AC (that company couldn't come out for another 2 weeks), my husband found Silicon Valley Comfort online, called around 8pm at night, and somehow they were able to schedule us in for early the next morning. They arrived on time, and upon checking out the AC, John realized the problem was not with the AC, but our 40+ year old electrical box. A few parts needed to be custom made for the hookup to the AC to work again. Any other company would've said it's not their problem, as it was an electrical issue, after all. However, John and Carlos took on this project, called up their electrician buddies, and made trips to get the custom parts made, fixing it all in one day. Within just 20 hours of receiving our call. Please note, I do not write reviews...and I just had to write one for Silicon Valley Comfort. I called SVC on a Saturday night at around 9:15 PM and he was at my door by 10:30 PM. He stayed until 11:50 PM and had me back up and running by the time he left. And no, I did not mistake my AMs and PMs. SVC provides 24/7 service. He did not rush through any of the work and was extremely thorough - ensuring he checked every possibility so that he made sure the problem was fixed. My husband travels a lot so when something goes wrong, I am at a loss as I have two kids and trying to make service appointments is a nightmare (cause either we have to sit at home for hours waiting for someone to come or they are screaming and I can't even talk to the person). So having SVC provide a service in the evening when my kids were none the wiser was wonderful. Price wise...I thought for sure it was going to be expensive for not only a weekend call but an evening call, but he was so reasonable...I actually wanted to pay him more as I felt he did an amazing job and was charging hardly anything. Found them through google. I had issues with AC condensation overflow and the owner came by the same day and fixed it --- or I hope he did. Would not know for sure since he never came by like he said he would a few days later to make sure his fix isn't 'leaking'. He kept pushing it out -- it was the third time today that he said he'd come and didn't. When I confronted him he labeled me as narcissistic and as someone who has issues. Really??? I paid over 1800 dollars to get this sort of treatment? Also he seems to have forgotten half the things he said. I was extremely happy that they were able to fix my AC. Despite working late into the night, the owner was meticulously diagnosing the problem and found the root cause of the problem - which was a bug that got stuck in the unit.
