They did not install the correct size return vent so our heater kept overheating. It would cycle on and off every few minutes and say it was heating when no air was moving. We literally had them come out 4 times before they found out what the issue one. The first 3 times they gaslit us and said that is was our Nest or a draft in an interior wall... I think they have only one good employee because the 4th guy to show up told us he liked to get paid for his overtime and would stick around until he got to the cause of the problem. Also when they finally "fixed" the return vent to a proper sized, they botched the install and had cracks in the ceiling and random screws sticking out in places. So they had to come back again to fix that mistake.

They sent Thomas out to take a look, he was very up front about the condition of the unit and advised that there was alot of issues, which we totally get. He was very thorough and took a lot of reference photos and explained what he was doing. We agreed to look at getting a new system and set up a meeting with Kyle for later the afternoon. Kyle was also amazing and went over the pricing and options, you never want to pay for a new AC unit but it's a necessity here so and they made sure we had a great deal. I was hoping to just get it serviced, but because of the age and the freon it used, I was informed that they no longer carry that freon due to it was no longer produced and that I might find a company that has it. Found one that was able to give me 2 more years and very much appreciated the honesty the A COOL AIR gave. November 2025 it was time to change it out. Made the appointment, received the estimate after inspection, was informed of the rebates both for SMUD as well as Federal Tax Credits and gave the go ahead. They had it installed in 2 days' time, and let me tell you, this new system? Makes me come to terms that I never really had a real one to begin with!!! I was given options to which one would work best for my unit (I live in a condo) and wasn't swayed one way or the other. Chose one, and I am SO THANKFUL I did! These few days in the 90's so far have given comfortable and cool air throughout my home and including my bedroom which never cooled off or heated up to the rest of the house. One of the return air grilles installed as part of the new HVAC installation cannot be closed and latched without applying significant force due to interference between the latch and the frame. I raised this issue during the last two scheduled maintenance visits following the installation, provided photographs, and explained my concerns regarding long-term operation and safety. The grille serves as an access point for routine filter replacement and is located in an upstairs hallway immediately adjacent to an open two-story foyer. Routine filter changes and grille operation therefore require the use of a ladder in close proximity to a significant vertical drop. Given that this maintenance task will be performed repeatedly over the 15-20 year life of the system, I believe the grille should operate smoothly and without excessive force. During both maintenance visits, I was told that the condition was acceptable. When I later provided photographs and requested an estimate to correct the issue, the company provided a quote of approximately $330. The dollar amount was never the issue. In fact, the relatively modest cost of the repair only reinforced my disappointment. What concerned me was that a readily observable and repeatable operational issue was consistently treated as an acceptable operating condition rather than as a workmanship concern worthy of further consideration. To me, the grille itself is not the real issue. It simply became the reason I began questioning the company's workmanship standards and willingness to stand behind its work. If there is disagreement over a readily observable and repeatable operational issue that can be experienced, photographed, and evaluated, it naturally raises questions about the quality of work that is not visible to the homeowner. Whether those concerns are ultimately justified or not, trust is an essential part of any long-term service relationship. My dissatisfaction is not with any single interaction but with the company's consistent position that this condition is acceptable and its unwillingness to take ownership of a concern that I believe reflects its workmanship standards. As a result, I have decided to cancel my maintenance agreement and move my business elsewhere.
