This was my first visit to AJ's Pizza in Butler. It was a Wednesday at 2:45pm. After I located the menu, I ordered the large eggplant parm sandwich. I enjoyed my meal while watching and listening to ESPN on the televisions. It was a great super hot lunch and as expected, I needed half of it to be wrapped to go. There were thirteen types of slices available, many more than the Route 23 location which I assume is set up more as an express style. I appreciated the super friendly staff as well. read more

Pizza is the best in the area - for sure. When you call in for an order, it's going to depend on whom you get on phone. Some are great, some are not so great. You can tell them that with any order that includes the bread, skip it - it's awful. You just have to throw it out. Send better bread with the many great Italian dinners, then well, you've got a complete winner. Oh, and really train the phone ordering people. I usually pickup pizza. Once in a while I have it delivered when I am to busy to pickup, and always tip good. Tonight I ordered online. Pizza arrived early, so I opened the door, took the pizza, and was going to go put in down so I don't drop it, as I have done before. As I took the pizza from the driver, he says "thanks for the tip". I didn't even get a chance to turn around and put it down, and take the tip that I had on the stairs, and give it to him, and I get a sarcastic "thanks for the tip"???? My family is in town to see the kids grandad who is in a nursing home at Milford Manor. Last time we were here I bought pizza on the way in and it was so good. We wanted to re-create that. We played a board game and then ordered pizza delivery. We bought four pies. I got us a sub par. My father-in-law ordered the grandmas pizza and it is awful awful awful. I recently visited the area and thought AJ's was closed already for renovations and had a MELTDOWN. What will we eat? Where will we get the best damn penne vodka and pizza AND disco fries?! Luckily I had my dates screwed up and was able to fulfill my carb needs with gusto- DISASTER AVERTED! Made me realize I never stopped to show my love for my favorite pizza joint in NJ. We ordered delivery and the food was BLAND! We may be spoiled by the Italian food available at other local restaurants. We ordered Pizza and Mussels with red sauce. Wow just ordered from AJ's Pizza for the first time last night and I was so happy with the meal. A bunch of us ordered pasta and a few of the boys decided to grab a few fat sandwiches and a large pie. The penne vodka was so good and gave you the option of adding peas and prosciutto for a small charge but it was banging. The sauce was delicious and even better when I dipped my garlic bread in it. My friend decided on gnocchi with alfredo sauce and loved it. The phat sandwiches looked awesome but I definitely have to be in the mood to eat one of those bad boys, they are packed with everything from fries and chicken fingers to onion rings and mozzarella sticks. The boys seemed to really enjoy the pizza leaving me with only a bite to sample so its safe to say they liked it. We will definitely be trying more of what AJ's has to offer ! read more

If you are looking for the best pizza in the area this is it. Always perfectly cooked and their varieties are endless. Toppings are generous and the crust is thin and crispy. I usually go for their sandwiches which are big and feature fresh made bread. Try the shrimp or chicken parm with vodka sauce. Still the menu is varied from gyro to fat burgers to salad. Not sure what someone said about not eating in during a previous review. The pizzeria is clean well staffed and if there is ever an issue the owner is almost always there to make it right. read more

I got an email confirming my order and estimating the time of delivery, along with a receipt that specifies my card to be charged. Plus, a pending charge shows on my bank account. All routine. AJ's pizza is my favorite pizza place in the Butler/Tri-boro area. The pizzas are consistently good, the crust is light and crispy, the pizza dough is thin and the sauce is tasty. My favorite pie is a garlic and tomato pie and they do it well. They deliver and have enough drivers that delivery is prompt. We order from AJ's pretty regularly. read more

We eat take out from there all the time. The food is all good and delivery is fast (prepay your tip and don't be cheap, and you will get your food within minutes of calling) The place looks like a hole in the wall so I wouldn't recommend eating in. read more

I've been living in West Milford (lower) for 7 years now and have been having AJs delivered since the very beginning. It's the only place I order from - for any type of food (the Chinese food is horrible in this area,. so that's out). Anyhow, I like their pizza, but I enjoy some of the other stuff much more. I highly recommend the Chicken Saltimboca. AMAZING! The spicy pickles sound weird, but they are loved by anyone who tries them. We also often get a salad with our order, and recommend you ask for the creamy Italian salad dressing. I've never had such an amazing dressing. It must just be butter and lard or something really terrible and fattening because it is just so delicious. It's easy to call or use your credit card online to order. The place is run like a well-oiled machine. Delivery guys are nice and impressive. We live on a blind curve, so we tip extra - but even before the tip is in hand they are super nice and unaffected by the daunting location. My only complaint is that every now and again the portions are really small. If they are insanely busy (they're always busy, but occasionally you'll sense chaos) you can get less...not a ton less and they give you a fair amount - but I've definitely noticed it. But that does not happen enough to deny them a 5-star review. read more

Tonight I ordered a salad from here. I love their food but want to make something clear to the rest of the people. When you order your salad online apparently it charges you too much. I ordered 3x the amount of avocado on the salad which cost me 9 bucks. I didn't mind paying it because I thought I'd be getting a lot more. When my salad arrived it barely had the normal serving of avocado. I called and they said because I ordered online it charged me that, well send over extra now. AJ's is a great spot for pizza and for appetizers like mozzarella sticks and wings. Cheesy garlic bread that is very cheesy and very garlic-y, it's all good. They know how to make bacon crispy enough so it's awesome on a pie and when you tell them you want extra cheese, they don't screw around. If you're into spicy, get the jalapeño pizza and you won't regret it. Cold sandwiches, dinners and salads generally are unimaginative and leave something to be desired. I never go here for that kind of stuff, but always grab pizza when I'm in the area. Pro tip: Friday or Saturday nights when all the pizza places are slammed and it's an hour for delivery, if you don't want to wait tell them you will pick it up. They'll tell you 25 minutes or (rarely) a half hour but it will be ready in 5 minutes less than that. AJ doesn't like people standing around for the delivery guys to be tripping over so he makes sure pickups are ready quick. I've been living in the area for years and have seen good pizza places come and go. So we were glad a few years back we discovered AJ's. The food is awesome. Order an entree and in my opinion it's better than most restaurants where you'd pay double easily. The variety is great, including burgers, fries, cheese steak, salads galore, and of course great pizza including some interesting combinations (like chicken/bacon/ranch!) Everything is delicious.
