My colleagues at work have ordered from here before, and one of them shared me his breakfast potatoes. One world - FABULOUS!!! Had to get more of this place!!! Offered to pick up some breakfast for my colleagues yesterday. I had a Mushroom, Bacon, and American Cheese Egg White Omelette with extra potatoes. Just soooo good, and so fresh. I watched the cook make it in front of me. He is amazing! The service is FABULOUS, and the food is to die for! I would seriously drive out here from Livermore in the morning at least once to twice a week as one of my favorite breakfast dives! Need to try their Eggs Benedict next time! the service here is great! I wanted biscuits and gravy but at the same time wanted bacon and eggs. she suggested to get the biscuits and gravy instead of toast. really nice and accommodating. :) not a lot of parking and a small place so I could see how it could be tough getting in during peak breakfast hours. I got here at 1030am and was able to snag the last parking spot and stool at the counter. everything tastes really fresh. one thing that would have made it perfect for me is if they had hashbrowns, they only have homefries but still good. This breakfast place needs no introduction. A staple of Alamo since 1947, they serve up delicious homestyle-cooked breakfast food to perfection. They are consistent with quality and the cook is talented and gets your food out to you very quickly after you order it. I have tried several different items on the menu including the breakfast burrito, two egg breakfast, and pancakes, and have never been disappointed with my food. Usually, the only disappointment is that I am done eating and I am full and can't eat any more food! The cook is fun to watch behind the counter, as he seems totally relaxed and confident, handling multiple orders at once. Everyone from the waiters to the bus-boy work together and make every transaction run smoothly and seamlessly. The food comes out hot and delicious every single time. I come here every weekend and it's amazing how consistent they are with their quality and service. There are plenty of regulars here on the weekend and it can get crowded, but it's worth the wait. You would be hard pressed to find a better breakfast place than this. Prices here are also very reasonable. read more

I've been here many times, a few by myself. Today was just what I needed. Sat at the counter, zoned out watching the big man work the griddle in his usual efficient way. His muscle memory is damned near perfect. No wasted movement. He must have some kind of OCD because the place is spotless, well organized, and consistent. Must be why I like it so much. Trying to figure out all of the positive reviews - must be from long-time, loyal customers because the food is average, at best. I came here for breakfast. It was hard to taste anything through all of the grease. The gravy is mostly flour and milk - and lacks any flavor. Eggs were just okay. I've always referred to this palce as The Greasy Spoon. I ate here this morning for the first time since I was a kid and used to order the Mouse Pancakes. Those were awesome. This time, as mature as I am now in my adult life, I got a coffee, two pancakes and an egg. It was basic diner food. They did have hazelnut creamer though - which rules! The pancakes were thin and not as good as some, but like I said, for a diner it satisfied. It's a fun little place to go, the portions are big, and you will probably see some interesting people come through. There are only 4 tables and the counter, you can see the food being made from anywhere you sit. Also, if you live in the area you may have received a free entree coupon in the mail. We went here for breakfast saturday and really enjoyed it. The bacon was super crisp and the toast was delicious sourdough. The eggs could have been taken off the grille a moment faster, but still good. I liked the potatoes, but next time I will request they crisp them up a smidge - they were a little soggy. My only complaint is that my date got a side of bacon, and the side of bacon was nearly as expensive as either of our meals - I didn't really get that. Hands down, best breakfast you can get in the area. I love sitting at the counter and watching the cooks prepare the food. Wait, I love that they have a counter. They had a French Toast special that included the following: 4 slices of big french toast- 3 strips of hearty bacon- 1 egg over medium 2 cups of coffee- It is not a fancy over the top cafe, but a good solid breakfast that totalled $7.50 (not including the coffee). Total for two people was $23.67 including the tip ($11.84 each out the door). The bacon was high quality, the french toast was flavorful, and the coffee was good. If you are looking for a no-frills yet solid good old fashioned breakfast, then I suggest dropping in at the Alamo Cafe. read more

I work in Alamo, and occasionally, I like to buy breakfast. Alamo has limited cafes near my job that make inexpensive breakfast. After looking over their breakfast menu online, I called and placed a takeout order for corn beef breakfast that comes with two eggs and toast. I love corn beef hash. When I picked up my order, I notice how small the cafe was and it was pretty full...so I thought that was a good sign that they had good food. Their style of corn beef hash is much different from what I am used to. Instead of tiny cubes of potatoes mixed with ground beef, it was home fried potatoes with strips of beef sauteed with onions and green/red bell pepper. The breakfast was good but not what I expected. The wheat toast was nothing special. A bit on the cheap side but I have had cheaper wheat toast elsewhere. I will come back periodically for breakfast. I hear they have good salads for lunch too. read more

Came here for Sunday brounch around 10:20am and of course there wasn't an open seat in this little cafe. We had a group of 5, so it was bit of a wait, we finally were seated about 10:45am which isn't bad at all. I would not recommend this place to parties 4+ because they just don't have the space to accomadate. Regardless, we made the best of it. We were promptly served drinks after being seated and placed our orders right away. My sis-in-law said the coffee was atrocious, but whatever she's prolly a coffee snob ;) I ordered the half order of huevos rancheros and it was seriously SO GOOD. I would gladly order it again...it was the perfect size, the only complaint comes from the meager side of potatoes it came with. Would've been nice if there was a little more...otherwise both my bf + mom ordered the eggs benedict. Mom said it was probably the best benny she'd ever had! The bf's eggs were over poached and not runny, which is unfortunate. He was also skeptical about the real slices of ham vs canadian bacon, it turned out to be so much better! Small, friendly, cute and soooo good! This is a small cafe with 4 tables that seat 4 and counter space that seats about 10. They are quick so the wait usually isn't very long. I always get a ham and cheese omelet with green chili's in it. The toast is lightly crunchy and buttery. They have country potatoes that a really tasty. Prices are good i love that they have French Vanilla and Hazelnut creamers for the bottomless coffee. read more

Two words to describe this place. "fresh" and "clean." Words that don't typically describe a greasy spoon diner. (maybe that's why it's called a café) This is small corner breakfast restaurant tucked away in the heart of Alamo on Danville Blvd., at Stone Valley Rd. exit of Hwy 680. The place is pretty small, seating only about 30 people, but it's one of the cleanest diners I've been to. There's no public restroom, so you'll need to ask one of the staff members to use a cramped one in the back. My wife and I decided on: "Randy's Special" 2 Scrambled eggs mixed in with ham, linguica, bell peppers, onions, mushroom, cheddar cheese, along side fresh cut home fries and toast. "Corned Beef Hash" Eggs served over fresh- sliced corned beef, mixed with onions, bell peppers and home fries along side toast. The food is rather basic but fresh. I saw the corned beef being sliced and the veggies prepped as the cook piled it on the fryer in front of me behind the counter. There's really nothing complicated about the dishes here. The portions are decent the price is reasonable. With a hospitable waiting staff, a mixed bag friendly locals and visiting patrons, this place gains a favorable rating from me. We came here a few weeks ago on a Sunday morning wanting to find a new cafe somewhere away from the area. Driving up to Alamo cafe reminded me of a town I visited out in Alabama. It had an old feel to it with a warm presence. We were lucky that there were a few seats left and I sat right near the door. On the wall I saw the special, Chicken Fried Steak and I knew I didn't have to open the menu. I already had my mind set. The CFS was pretty tasty and the home fries had a great seasoning. They must go through a lot of potatoes a day since I saw the cooks bring out 6 huge bowls of prepped potatoes. I really liked how they had the diner stools and the kitchen was right in your face. There was a family that walked in and the waiter knew everyone's drink order for the table before they even ordered it. I thought that was cool in itself. 1950s throwback but man it works. Love the sit anywhere counter as people share the paper. My eggs and bacon were perfect. Bacon osmundson the thick smoke kind and big slices. The potatoes had the right amount of squishy and crunchiness texture. While it was just plain potatoes it was the right amount. My suggestion it to offer salsa to add to the already awesome item. Substituted the 1 biscuit and gravy. Biscuit was fresh and soft and smothered in gravy. I appreciate that as many places skimp on the gravy . A little thicker than I prefer but taste great and I was there late in the morning. read more

Great breakfast AND lunch; big portions; FRESH I'm hesitant to write a review because I love this place so much I don't want it to get too busy, but they deserve it. Some may say that "regulars" are treated differently, but this isn't the case. It has a small-town feel, and I think that can be misinterpreted. I've been eating here regularly since moving nearby, & I couldn't be more pleased to discover this spot. The food & service are great, & I give it a full 5 stars for the value, which is extraordinary. Standouts are their blueberry pancakes, eggs benedict, & corned beef. The later is made there, not out of a can, & served shaved (not chunky style). The service is friendly & prompt. Go there often & they will recognize you (disclaimer: I always go later, so I can't say what the early-morning scene is like). The restaurant is small in size, so plan ahead if you expect a crowd. I love breakfast dining, & this has quickly become one of my favorite East Bay spots. It has very good food & is a tremendous value! read more

Nice little spot but that's the issue; it is little, not a lot around and be prepared to wait if you come during rush hour. I like the chicken fried steak with country gravy potatoes...they are good they really hit the spot. If they had more room this place would really be a hit! Unfortunately they don't. On the menu a breakfast burrito is advertised as $4.75, today I ordered one and when I can in to pay was told it was $10.32. No where close to the menu price.
