We came here on a Monday night to see Spielberg's film Disclosure Day. The entire facility was empty except for a few staff members. Needless to say we had good service. The woman up front who sold us our tickets was especially helpful and answered questions we didn't know we had. She showed us her screen so we could select our seats. Only 2 others tickets had been purchased. That's it! There were only four of us in our screening room. We aimed for the seats in the center. It was the best viewing. The downside is that these seats do NOT recline. They look like recliners, but apparently only the front two rows have reclining seats. That was unfortunate. The seats are also a pleather-like material, so if you wear shorts or a short skirt, your skin might stick to it. It was a little warmer than I expected in the theater, but I'm guessing they don't bother having the temperature gauge low anymore because they don't get a lot of bodies in seats heating up the place. We were given a menu by the woman at front, but there was also a QR code on the tray table at our seat. There is a big red button on the front of the seat for calling the server. Our Margherita pizza and vanilla milkshake were brought out separately. The shake was delivered long after we had eaten our pizza. Even though we had arrived well before the movie started and ordered right away, the food didn't come out until right as the movie was starting. I was actually hoping the food would be delivered sooner so we could eat before it got dark. Per usual, I ended up with food spilling on my dress. Plus, I would have liked to drank my shake while splitting the pizza with my husband. He ordered a diet Pepsi - both a big NO in my book. Overall it was a decent experience. We usually go to the SMG in our neighborhood, but this one in Plano had a start time that worked better with our schedule, so we made the drive here. We will most likely return to our local SMG where all the seats recline, the theater is cold, and all of the food and drink are delivered at the same time. read more

Some of the seats' pleather is cracked and stiff. I showed up in shorts and had to change seats because the cracked pleather was cutting into my skin. I also received the wrong order; I had ordered the chicken nachos but was given the chips and queso. The nachos themself were not very good. The chips had the heavy oil flavor from being fried, and the chicken was grounded. Lastly, which is so odd to me, but the "gourmet" popcorn is not refillable and it also had that heavy oil flavor. read more

Everything just took forever and the staff isn't personable or cared that it was taking forever when I asked what was taking so long lol. The movie theatre is nice but the seats were really uncomfortable. Food is pretty good for a movie theatre. Got the 2 for $30 plus 3 milkshakes and mozzarella cheese sticks. Started off with nachos and it's not bad, tasty but kind of soggy. They forgot to get us the jalapeños on the side. The cheese sticks were good. We ordered the avocado flatbread (added chicken), and buffalo chicken flatbread as our entrees and it was pretty tasty. I like that The chicken pieces was big, flavor was good. As mentioned, the seats were uncomfortable as the leather was cracked and the back was too straight up that we couldn't really couldn't enjoy sitting through the entire movie. Decided to come here with my two teens for my birthday. Bad decision. Let's start with the basics - It's a movie theatre, so if I'm only judging on the bare minimum of A. Is it comfortable to watch a movie and B. Can I see and hear a movie - NOPE. It really floors me that this place is still in business simply because there are maybe seven reclining seats in each theatre. WHY IN THIS DAY AND AGE ARE THEY NOT ALL RECLINING? What psychopath is sitting straight as an arrow up right for two hours watching a movie? But even the reclining seats are uncomfortable. It's like they aren't made for that theatre, either not reclining enough or you can't see the screen in certain positions. The other big thing is that you can hear the next theatre. It's totally off putting and I again can't believe people come here still. It's so loud we couldn't hear our movie. Food was blah and drinks were watery. The theatre was so humid and hot and smelled damp. Cinemark is just down the street people! read more

So this is my first time being to Studio Movie Grill in Texas. Previously I had only been to the ones around the Atlanta area. I wasn't impressed. The seats don't recline or anything, the food is quite overpriced for the options I feel. I ordered the loaded buffalo chicken chips and they were literally nothing but chicken and chips DOUSED with the buffalo sauce. They were so spicy and unappealing because all I could taste was the buffalo sauce and it made it unappetizing. Additionally, I don't like that they now charge gratuity automatically because the server barely came around yet got 18-20% off of my total bill. I guess my point is, it's a nice luxury to be able to order real food at the movie theater and make a whole thing out of the experience but charging customers like this for mediocre food and service isn't where it's at. Personally I like the food options at SMG is best compared to the other movie eateries in the metroplex. Their food is good for what a movie eatery can offer as well as their drinks. My favorite drink is their froze rita' and its size is ginormous. My only complaint would be that all locations of SMG have not upgrades their seats to luxury recliners like other theaters like Cinemark or AMC. I am hopeful in the future they will! Their service is hit or miss... when it's busier it's a little more slow, but overall I do believe their staff tries their best! read more

We've had ok experiences here. The theatres are usually clean and seats are comfortable. One thing that we consistently run into is ordering from their app- somehow they never seem to receive our order. I always end up having to chase down some servers to check on my order. Hope they improve the technology soon. read more

We should have taken this as a sign. This place is below average. Our screening was well below 40% capacity. We were the only two guests on our row. The screen was a little small for this auditorium, the projection was fine, the sound was fine. The seats aren't super comfy, the floor was VERY sticky. The auditorium was a little warmer than I would have expected. Food was sub par. We got a pizza, wings, fries, and some soda. The sodas were flat, machine needs a recalibration. The pizza reminded me of gas station pizza, they need to retool their recipes. The fries were just straight up soggy, they were hot, but undercooked. We only ate a few of the wings, because we both thought they might be undercooked, texture was a little sketchy, and we did not want to turn on our flashlights to inspect the chicken. We did not point out our dissatisfaction to our server, as this would not have been their fault, they were very fast and friendly. We didn't want to bother with it and wanted to focus on the movie. We will not be coming back. This place is just ok if you want to see a movie, I would skip the food. read more

We were greeted warmly from the time we came in. What really cinched the positive vibes for me is how they treated my kids. Baby, they just had popcorn and water, but the way that each staff member looked at and treated my 4 and 7 year old boys, people most likely to make a mess with those things, you would think they'd ordered premium margaritas. The preview volume is so loud you cannot hear anything and your ears start ringing. You cannot hear the person next to you, or the server without shouting. When you bring it up to staff, they say it is previews only, and won't be this bad during the movie. My apple watch caught it at 83 decibels. Google says 8-10 minutes of this is harmful. read more

I normally go to the Studio Movie Grill in Th Colony and always have a great experience. This was my first time going to the Plano location and it was horrible. When the movie trailers first started there was sound but no picture, then they got both working correctly for about 30 seconds then the picture stayed on but the sound went out completely. We pressed the button to call an attendant and our waitress told us "this theater doesn't have sound for trailers". I'm sorry, what? About 4 trailers in the sound finally started working but was EXTREMELY loud (and lasted that way for the entire movie). Even my 18 year old daughter and 15 year old son were having to hold their ears for much of the movie. Our waitress did not bring out check until after the credits were rolling even though we ordered our food before the movie even started. The girl who was working the front counter was very friendly though - the one positive experience we took from the whole theater. Definitely would not recommend this specific Studio Movie Grill. Seats are stiff, the audio speakers were out of sync so it sounded like an echo in the back, and at one point during the movie a worker kept smacking his broom against a dustbin LOUDLY while cleaning a mess (drawing you out of the experience) during a very quiet scene. I've been a customer of this SMG forever....and I mean it...I want to say like...15 years? way before the restructuring and remodels. I have to say though, I find myself wanting to go to SMG less and less lately. the prices have gone up while the food selection and quality have gone down. Service is not stellar either. food is at a minimum $10. I think that the cheapest option is edamame or popcorn... i love popcorn while watching movies...and movie theater popcorn is a must have, but the popcorn at SMG is worse than the microwave popcorm i have at home. the popcorn is always lukewarm/cold and the butter makes it kinda...soggy? there would be a pool of oil at the bottom with a lot of unpopped kernels. they recently started offering a 'dill pickle' seasoning, but with all my disappointing popcorn orders in the past, i haven't tried the seasoning. i'm surprised that the menu doesn't offer some lighter snacks like fruit or veggie sticks. most of the menu i feel is fried or heavily sauced/seasoned. often i find myself just wanting a simple order of fries, but they don't have any 'sides' on their menu. the only fry option by itself is the cheese fries with all the toppings for $11. aside from all my woes about the food, the ticket prices have also gone up - or added restrictions. I used to buy groupons for $5 tickets which you could use for any standard movie. but then they added restrictions that you could only use the code through tickets bought online, couldn't be applied to new releases, could not be used during peak weekend hours, etc. also, it used to be for any SMG location, but now the groupons are for specific locations only. i still go since this is the closest theater to where i live, however i go only to see a movie, and haven't ordered anything besides a soft drink the last few visits. read more

We had a great time at SMG, and were honestly just glad to be back in a movie theater! SMG was clean, although the seat next to me still had crumbs in it, which was a little disappointing. The theater itself was pretty clean, the menu is online, as with most places, and the waiters were very nice and attentive - all food and drink service was super quick! The food is not anything to write gone about, and neither are their specialty drinks, but the experience of getting to enjoy those things while watching a movie is great! I do wish all their seats reclined. The seats closer to the screen recline but the seats up top do not and for younger kids the seats were a little uncomfortable bc they sat so upright. Also, I felt like the volume of the movie was unusually loud, even my son said something about it. Overall, it was a solid 3 star time and we will be back! read more

I must say I was extremely annoyed with the manager at this location. I guess he comes from the thought that the customer is always wrong. After I had told him ALL the water faucets were running hot water in his sinks, for however, long, I don't know, and telling him that there was probably some that was pissed off, and I noticed there was no soap as well. That's probably what annoyed other people. He explained to me that there was some other soap dispenser, which, of course was not obvious to anyone. Rather than being nice about it, he just chose to be a jackass. Like I said, the customer is always wrong. I would avoid this house and choose the plethora of others are around. The food we tried was quite good (Southwest Eggrolls and a couple of the individual pizzas). Management was terrible though. 12oz drinks were served in place of the advertised 16oz in the menu. When the manager was questioned, the flippant answer was that they didn't have that size anymore. No offer to compensate or offer an alternative. Another drink never arrived at all. To begin--- I'm diabetic so my blood sugar drops easily. We get to the movie early and order a burger and wife orders later cause she didn't know what she wanted. 30 minutes later my wife orders shrimp and chicken tenders. 2 minutes later she gets her order. By this time still no burger. I go out to see a manager. Very nice but I'm telling him what's going on and offers me a candy to get my blood up. But I'm mad. So freaking upset I messed the movie first 39 minutes waiting on my dam burger. 10 minutes after I talk to manager my burger arrives. I didn't enjoy the movie at all I was so upset. Plus no refill on my drink. 2. We Literally walked 200 feet from our house because we live right behind the theater and we are treated this way. Hell no!! I love their hummus and veggie, pita plate. Really good. We're always happy with the food we order here. The seats recline back nice and far, but keep in mind that not all the seats recline. Make sure you're choosing a reclining seat when buying tickets. read more

This review is particular to the W Park Blvd location. Stay away! Seats without recliners or heaters?! I don't understand how they don't have that when others do. And for some reason the volume is deafeningly high starting right at the previews. Scared the crap out of us when it abruptly sounded like cannons going off. Took my family to see The Little Mermaid (I don't like the live-action remakes much but this one was so wonderful - go see!) and it was just too loud in the intense scenes. When it cut to a calm sequence...ugh, it was so relieving. Those seat warmers would have been really helpful because the A/C pours in there. So glad my wife had the intuition to bring jackets. I'd tell you to bring jackets, but what I'm really saying is stay away! While the food and service are good here, it's consistent at other locations. N Central Pkwy & Spring Valley Rd is a better location - way better. read more
