    Barbacoa taco
    Richard C.

I came in today since it's a cold rainy Saturday morning, perfect for getting tamales and barbacoa. I ordered a pound of all meat barbacoa and a dozen tamales to bring home to the family. It was all just ok. Nothing special. The barbacoa lacked salt and was very bland. The tamales were dry and hard to swallow. There was very little meat in them as well. This place is ok if you're just really craving barbacoa and tamales like I was.

    Barbacoa is good!

Once a month I can visit this place on my days off. I don't know who makes their menudo but it is delicious! Don't change the recipe! The Barbacoa is good! Not greasy. Corn tortillas are good. They don't have a bundle with soda on their #1. Comes with 1 lb of barbacoa, 1 pk of corn, 1 pk of tortillas plus hot sauce. I'd rather have a big red then a pk of flour! I have tried the tamales. They are dry to the taste & have too much masa in my opinion. Otherwise the staff is friendly. The place is clean!

Best Barbacoa and tamales around! They have great tasting Barbacoa and when you get the all meat it is all meat! Their prices are great for the family packs! You will get everything you need to enjoy their food including a soda! Great tortillas (flour and corn)! I had been looking for a place like this and I'm glad they came to our side of town.

Tried this place after seeing a piece on TV. The menudo looked great so tried for breakfast this morning. I will say the menudo had a great taste, but it was a bit overcooked and pieces were big. The barbacoa wasn't anything special and tamales were too dry for my taste. The flour tortillas were a weird, lumpy shape and thick. Not terrible but not somewhere I'd go back to. One last thing, no red salsa!

Pretty good stuff ! Just wish I had cilantro and onion for the Barbacoa and menudo!

I uploaded the pictures of these restaurant last year but somehow didn't write a review. Wow …read more. So where do I begin. I still remember how tasteful everything was. It was probably our most favorite place that we ate while in San Antonio. The ambiance was great, beautifully decorated restaurant with great service. The cocktails were delicious so we had a few. The food was flavorful and unique. We had a wonderful dinner with my family at Carriqui.

Y'know it's impossible to find street parking especially on the weekends normally. I had made reservations to meet some friends here for brunch/lunch 1145 am on a Sunday. This place is bigger than it looks! There's seating at the main building, plus a huge outdoor patio seating area, and an entire other building beautifully decorated. The hostess was welcoming and friendly and our server was excellent. We were seated in the other building near the windows. The menu wasn't huge, but just right with a few lunch and brunch items. After debating for a while of what to order, I decided on the Texas Gulf Shrimp plate. Agua Fresca of the day per our server was strawberry pineapple. Our server was able to water mine down slightly- since it was very sweet, but love knowing that it was freshly made. Complimentary chips and salsa always a plus, and we were able to order some spicy salsa to accompany at no charge. My shrimp plate was delicious! 2 skewers of nicely cooked and seasoned shrimp atop salsa with perfectly cooked cilantro rice and a fresh leaf salad. A half slices avocado accompanied my plate. Oh how I love avocados. I thoroughly enjoyed my plate. The chicken al carbon was also a good choice - half a chicken that was juicy, not dry. The avocado toast was beautiful and the pecan salsa was quite interesting. The female performers during our brunch in the room, made it very hard for all of us to have conversations. The volume echoed loudly in the room, so it was very hard to speak and understand each other. Although a great idea, maybe outdoor patio area might be more suitable. Beautiful space, great service, good food.

Both my wife and I ordered breakfast plates--hers was the chorizo and egg and mine, huevos rancheros. The restaurant was empty besides one diner sitting outside with her dog and one family inside which should have been a red flag to stay away. My chorizo and potatoes were cold and my beans were not hot either. This was not like it had cooled down--cold. The ranchero sauce looked bad and all of the food on my plate had no flavor, no seasoning, literally no effort whatsoever. I had a bug crawl across my hand while we were there as well. She had the issue with her plate, food was not even warm. The tortillas were hot and tasted good so that was how I warmed up my food. Our waiter also decided that he would cross the street to go speak to a woman at the little outdoor patio restaurant across the street on the corner. Not kidding, he was there for at least five or ten minutes just talking to her. I have always wanted to try Tito's and wanted something new to us but I guarantee there is no way we will ever go back. We left hungry, disappointed and embarrassed by what we just went through.
