Nogalitos Street is known for many things. For one, it has its share of dive bars. One of the funniest named bars is Cool Arrows whose name is probably not as funny for those monolingual readers. But I digress. You aren't reading this because you want to read about bars. You want the skinny on Taco Nando. Well, in my honest opinion I think you would be better off hanging out at Cool Arrows instead. Here is the breakdown: Chicharron taco: greasy, ranchero sauce very chunky and felt like taco was more like eating a tortilla filled with greasy vegetables. Bean bacon and cheese: refried beans were thick, they had a very good flavor. Bacon chunks scattered across the top, but were scant. Their cheese was cheddary and really helped add to the flavor. Unfortunately, this taco just wasn't as good as other places I have been to. Barbacoa: This taco was so greasy, it sweated butter. Okay, seriously speaking, this barbacoa meat lacked flavor and literally dripped with grease creating a soggy tortilla mess. Migas: Very cheesy, egg and chips cooked just right. This dish had a very good flavor and if I ever came here again, I would probably just get this plate. Taco Nando's salsa was a chunky mess. It had a nice kick to it, but felt more like somebody forgot to turn the blender on when they made it. Ending on a positive note, I have to say the tortillas were very delicious and homemade.

Tacos de chorizo con frijoles, guisado, aguacate taco. The other plate has a pork chop taco and a tripa taco. This joint is on point!!!!!

I uploaded the pictures of these restaurant last year but somehow didn't write a review. Wow …read more. So where do I begin. I still remember how tasteful everything was. It was probably our most favorite place that we ate while in San Antonio. The ambiance was great, beautifully decorated restaurant with great service. The cocktails were delicious so we had a few. The food was flavorful and unique. We had a wonderful dinner with my family at Carriqui.

Y'know it's impossible to find street parking especially on the weekends normally. I had made reservations to meet some friends here for brunch/lunch 1145 am on a Sunday. This place is bigger than it looks! There's seating at the main building, plus a huge outdoor patio seating area, and an entire other building beautifully decorated. The hostess was welcoming and friendly and our server was excellent. We were seated in the other building near the windows. The menu wasn't huge, but just right with a few lunch and brunch items. After debating for a while of what to order, I decided on the Texas Gulf Shrimp plate. Agua Fresca of the day per our server was strawberry pineapple. Our server was able to water mine down slightly- since it was very sweet, but love knowing that it was freshly made. Complimentary chips and salsa always a plus, and we were able to order some spicy salsa to accompany at no charge. My shrimp plate was delicious! 2 skewers of nicely cooked and seasoned shrimp atop salsa with perfectly cooked cilantro rice and a fresh leaf salad. A half slices avocado accompanied my plate. Oh how I love avocados. I thoroughly enjoyed my plate. The chicken al carbon was also a good choice - half a chicken that was juicy, not dry. The avocado toast was beautiful and the pecan salsa was quite interesting. The female performers during our brunch in the room, made it very hard for all of us to have conversations. The volume echoed loudly in the room, so it was very hard to speak and understand each other. Although a great idea, maybe outdoor patio area might be more suitable. Beautiful space, great service, good food.

Our Lyft driver recommended Mi Tierra as one of the best restaurants in the area. I ordered the Steak Tampiqueña combo and I am truly glad I did. The meat was very tender and flavorful, and the chicken enchilada that came with. It was absolutely delicious! The rice and beans were a nice addition, but I have to say the real star of the show was the homemade tortillas! Our server told us that there are two ladies in the back that make homemade tortillas all day long, and they were very tasty. I do absolutely recommend that you try this place if you are in the area. They also have a live mariachi band with singers that perform only on request for tips.

Both my wife and I ordered breakfast plates--hers was the chorizo and egg and mine, huevos rancheros. The restaurant was empty besides one diner sitting outside with her dog and one family inside which should have been a red flag to stay away. My chorizo and potatoes were cold and my beans were not hot either. This was not like it had cooled down--cold. The ranchero sauce looked bad and all of the food on my plate had no flavor, no seasoning, literally no effort whatsoever. I had a bug crawl across my hand while we were there as well. She had the issue with her plate, food was not even warm. The tortillas were hot and tasted good so that was how I warmed up my food. Our waiter also decided that he would cross the street to go speak to a woman at the little outdoor patio restaurant across the street on the corner. Not kidding, he was there for at least five or ten minutes just talking to her. I have always wanted to try Tito's and wanted something new to us but I guarantee there is no way we will ever go back. We left hungry, disappointed and embarrassed by what we just went through.
