    Housemade Quiche with Mixed Greens
    Rachel E.

We were in the area and decided to stop here for lunch. The place was bustling at 12:30pm on a Wednesday. We were in a rush so we didn't get to try more dishes. Next time, I'd like to try the oatmeal pancakes, the soup of the day, or the special (today was beef enchiladas.) We tried the ahi sandwich and the chicken quiche with side salad and house made dill dressing. The quiche was solid: cheese, good amount of chicken, and thicccc slice. The side salad was fresh and the dill dressing was tasty! The ahi sandwich was good. Coffee was excellent too and I had two cups - a lot for me after 12pm. The service was hospitable and friendly. We'd love to come again and try more.

Alanas has been around a long time. The location is perfect for locals. The food is always fresh and tasty. The service was perfect. Great daily special- the Quiche! And a green salad, with poppyseed dressing. I sat inside as it was a hot day and not too many tables available outside under the shade. Inside I was able to watch the cook and do some people watching. The bread pudding was a great bonus for the occasion .

Our Famous Swedish Oatmeal Pancakes - Regular (3)

I was getting my car serviced in the area and decided to pull up for a quick breakfast. I went with the Famous Swedish Oatmeal Pancakes, full stack (3). To me, this felt like having an oatmeal cookie in pancake form, you can feel the lil bits of oats with each bite. I went with the mixed berries but it typically comes with lingonberry, sadly they ran out! Also includes maple syrup ofc. I was seated at the bar, definitely a tight fit but it was a cool vibe with nice folks beside me. Worth a try if you're in the area!

I've honestly been gatekeeping Alana's Cafe for years, but the oatmeal pancakes are too good not to share. Absolute MUST order. I usually go for the smaller stack (2 pancakes) so I can also get something savory. My go-to is the "Company's Coming" (potatoes, mushrooms, sausage, and perfectly poached eggs). You can choose sourdough, coffee cake, or scone, definitely get the coffee cake. They have outdoor seating that's what makes this place perfectly dog-friendly (they always bring my pup water). The staff has been the same for years, consistently kind and welcoming. Parking tip: easy metered parking in the mornings on weekdays, or you can find street parking in the nearby residential area if you don't mind a short walk. The bathroom is small and located in the back through the kitchen, but overall it's a cozy, reliable, and delicious spot. Plus, free coffee refills.

    Alana's Combo Mediterranean Scramble

We had brunch here on Sunday and luckily didn't have to wait for a table since we chose to sit at the counter. A great view because we were able to see the open kitchen right in front of us. Ambiance: 4/5 Small and causal diner that's pretty loud inside but it gives a homey feel lol. Outside seating is available too. Service: 5/5 Wonderful! Everyone was incredibly nice, friendly, and efficient. Definitely worth giving a tip just because of their service. Food: 4/5 Mediterranean scramble - Scrambled eggs with a variety of veggies tasted great. We chose a blueberry scone with this one and thought that was tasty too. Alana's combo - I wished my scrambled eggs had more seasoning because it was pretty bland. Potatoes were a bit burnt but not bitter so that was acceptable. Coffee cake that we chose with this was perfect-- surprisingly wasn't too sweet. Next time, we'd ask for it to be warmed up. Black coffee - If you like a dark roast like me, you'd love this!

The staff here always is so friendly and welcoming. The Saturday special was the Texas toast with fruit and eggs and sausage (substitute) and it was quite fabulous. The scones are must as they have rotating flavors each day. It's charming and delicious all in one.

Weekend brunch! Tell hostess name and group number, you will need to wait nearby. Waited about 15 minutes, was able to walk down to farmers market, scroll a bit and made it back to be seated. Although the cafe is not large, great layout so you do not feel squish. Menu had plenty of option, ordered a company's coming with coffee cake ($21.75), and stack of Swedish pancake with bacon ($17.25). Coffee cake was good and unique to this cafe. Also prefer coffee cake to bread. As for the company's coming, I think the order needed to be slightly larger to justify the price, even a few more potatoes would have made it better. Had one poached egg and one overcooked egg. Taste was okay, it was somewhat bland, a bunch of veggies and sausage toss together with potato. The three stack Swedish pancake could have used way more bacon! Overall, the food was alright, some unique items, but the service was excellent!

Stopped by Alana's Cafe during a layover and I'm so glad I did. The food was absolutely awesome, and our server, Lupe, made the experience even better with such friendly and attentive service. You can tell the staff genuinely cares about their customers. I was only in town for a few hours, but this was easily one of the highlights of my stop in Burlingame. I'll definitely be making a return visit the next time I have a layover in the area. Highly recommend!

A popular brunch spot on the weekends! My friend and I came around 10:30 AM and we were lucky to be seated immediately. Tables are crowded together, giving the space a cute neighborhood feel. The staff are super friendly and warm, making all customers feel at home. I was very surprised that coffee cake and scones were offered as options for bread on the menu -- you could really have a decadent breakfast here! I got the California Scramble and an orange juice. Juice was good, no pulp. The scramble was good too, lots of veggies and very filling. They gave me lots of toast and plenty of crispy breakfast potatoes, so I left very full and content. Would visit again in the future!

Pear, onion, Bleu cheese quiche with fruits

Pretty popular brunch spot in Burlingame. Do expect some type of wait on the weekends. The shop is quite narrow, so be ready to be elbow to elbow with your neighbors. They do have some tables out on the sidewalk. Not the greatest spot if you have a huge group, 4 would be your comfortable max. Prices are a bit high for what you get. You do get full, just don't expect much leftovers. Their weekend menu is limited on the savory stuff like soups and some of the sandwiches. I've tried their omelettes, quiche, and salads before. Their quiches are amazing. You get a side of fruits or salad on weekends, there is a soup option on weekdays. The flavors do change from time to time, I had a pear and bleu cheese one, can't say no to one of my favorite pairings. If you're very desperate, they do sell the whole pie to bake at home. As much as I like their quiche, their omelettes are probably more filling.

Solid breakfast spot right in the heart of downtown Burlingame. The Swedish oatmeal pancakes are straight up the bomb, especially with lingonberry and maple syrup. Super moist, perfectly cooked, the gold standard of pancakes in my book. The "Company's Calling" hits that sweet spot too, a nice mix of veggies and Italian sausage, all topped with perfectly poached eggs. Honestly, you really can't go wrong here.

Small but extremely popular cafe with a few tables both inside and outside, and a small bar counter inside as well Don't take reservations, and even though me and my fiance got here 5 min before they opened there was already a line. By the time we ordered, the place was already full. They ran an incredibly efficient operation however, and our entire dining experience only took ~35min Have a good variety of breakfast staples, though they are known for their "Swedish Oatmeal Pancakes". My fiancé and I each opted for an iced latte, and we decided to split an order of banana Swedish Oatmeal Pancakes and a "Classic Alana's Breakfast" (which was comprised of scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, and breakfast potatoes. All of the things we tried were very tasty. We especially really enjoyed the seasoning that they used on their breakfast potatoes (my personal favorite) and their scrambled eggs. The Swedish Oatmeal Pancakes were unique, and you could really taste the oatmeal in them(!), but didn't blow me away. We were also disappointed that the bananas came on the side and not in, or on top of, the pancakes. The portions were pretty large, but it was also fairly expensive given the diner-esk vibes

So, coming here, first off, ALL the people who work here are wonderful. Very kind, professional, helpful and they act like they want to be here. I was helped quite a bit by Yesenia, and she was amazing, took great care of me! So kudos to management for what seems to be that, in turn, they take good care of their staff. It was a fairly long line to order and, at first, I sorta wished they had table service instead -- but it ended up moving fairly quickly and was very easy to order. They give you a number and you choose your own table, either inside or outside. On a Saturday morning, although it was busy, there were plenty of tables. My coffee came right away and it is good coffee. And I was told its Crepevine's own branded coffee, organic blend. My Thai crepe came not too long after. It usually comes with both peanut sauce and pesto. But I don't like pesto (and what does that have to do with Thai anyway?) so I asked for it to be prepared with just the peanut sauce. Unfortunately, that got lost and what I was served came with no sauces at all in the crepe. They were happy to take it back and have it re-done and it came out and a short time later with the peanut sauce inside ... and was nice and hot -- and delicious! The side salad that comes with the crepe usually has balsamic vinaigrette but I noticed that one of the menu items is a Thai Salad so, in keeping with the theme, I asked if they could put the dressing for that salad on my side salad and they said no problem, and it was very good -- a lemongrass dressing. The home potatoes were decent although I like mine well done with crispy edges, which these weren't, so I'd probably ask for that next time. And, btw, the value for the money is really good -- they give you A LOT of food! I actually couldn't finish everything on the plate. That all said, I don't think I'll come here on a regular basis, don't live nearby, but I'll definitely come back again, maybe when I have a guest in town -- it was a good meal at a good price and with excellent service and atmosphere, and the few minor problems I had were solved very quickly and efficiently, so 5 stars well deserved.

When I arrived around 10:00 p.m., I had to go to the front desk to check in. The lobby was packed with guests because Hilton was experiencing a nationwide system outage. After waiting in line, I was informed that the ocean-view room I had specifically selected and paid for had already been given away. Instead of honoring my reservation or offering a comparable solution, I was simply assigned a different room. To make matters worse, the front desk associate told me they would waive my parking fee as compensation for the inconvenience. Later, I discovered that the parking lot is open to the public because it is connected to the oceanfront trail. There is no gate, no parking attendant, no security monitoring the lot, and guests are not charged to park there in the first place. In other words, they offered me something that was already free, making it feel like they were trying to appease me without providing any real compensation. The nationwide system outage was beyond the hotel's control, and I understand that. However, giving away the room I had already selected and paid for, then misleading me into believing I was receiving meaningful compensation when I wasn't, was extremely disappointing. I expected much better customer service and accountability from Hilton. I will be making sure to tell all my friends and family what type of experience I had!

It's nice to be able to see the bay and SFO right out your window. But that is where the pleasantries stop. Hard stop. The rooms themselves are serviceable. I've stayed at uglier places... at half the price. The furniture is cheap and the mattress and couch are uncomfortable and hard to rest on. The main gripes with the rooms are the TVs. We are in 2026 Hilton! Why are we not using smart TVs. The TVs are all equipped with outdated software that looks like it's straight out of the 90's like "Saved by the Bell" is about to start playing next. They make you use an app if you want to actually change the channel. The remotes themselves are old as dirt and don't work so you are forced into downloading the app. If you have two TVs in your room you will have to completely log out to use the other. Silly. I know this isn't just in my one room because I had to move rooms after checking in. The first room's shower was completely broken. The entire fixture was hanging loose against the wall and was swinging free at the bottom. Not to mention 90 percent of the water was leaking out of every other part of the fixture EXCEPT the shower head. And the kicker... that was an ADA room that is meant for disabled individuals. Pretty sad. I can deal with some things being off here and there. Especially if the problems are addressed and if the staff is generally pleasant. That's not the case with this place. The problems abound and the staff I encountered were borderline outright rude. I had to call three times and wait an hour for a towel. Not coming back to Embassy Suites ever! At my seat (depicted) you get live behind the scenes of a kitchen. Me personally, I enjoy watching my food being cooked in front of me, so I enjoyed it. I originally went because of looking at the prices on an image on yelp. It was $16 for sausage, eggs, hash browns, and pancakes. That's a great deal! But, once I got there inflation kicked it up to $18. Not the biggest difference to deter, but just letting everyone know the real price. I got pancakes, eggs, hash browns, and bacon (depicted). The eggs were good, pancakes were very good, hash browns were okay, and the reason for 4 star instead of a 5.... the bacon. The bacon wasn't crispy and cooked to order. It was chewy and I guess they cook it before and then heat it up on the griddle after. It is super noticeable from the taste, but especially from the texture. I would recommend this place to anyone, but just be aware with the vital advice I wrote.

The two thin pork chops were supposedly marinated, but I couldn't tell from tasting them. They were over cooked--dry, tough and needed some herbs.
