I was a long‑term customer of Alarm New England for eight years, and my experience steadily declined over time. What began as a positive relationship eventually turned into repeated billing issues, including double charges and unexplained fees that required me to cancel autopay and change my card information. A major concern for future customers: Alarm New England locks their Honeywell Lyric panels with installer codes that they do not provide to the customer, even after the contract is fulfilled and the equipment is fully paid for. When I asked for the installer code, I was told I "did not have access" to it. This effectively prevents you from using your own hardware with another provider. Only after I sent a certified termination letter did the company suddenly reach out, offering to reset the code, but only if I powered the old panel back on, which I had already replaced. Service quality also declined over the years. One simple sensor installation took nearly an entire day, and phone hold times were often 20 minutes or more. I was also quoted an extremely high price for a basic battery replacement, which came with pressure to sign a new multi‑year contract. I have since switched to a local company that provides full access to my system, transparent pricing, and no long‑term contracts. One of the least customer-centric companies I have ever dealt with. Alarm New England acquired Associated Alarm, with the commitment that Associated Alarm's superior customer service and technical services would continue, and most of the same people would stay on. None of that was true. The current, Connecticut-based customer service team is shockingly rude, and the technicians being sent for routine repairs are amazingly incompetent. Change, if you can, to another alarm/security company that will appreciate your business and provide excellence in technical and customer service. read more

When I tried to switch services, Alarm New England refused to release my equipment, so I had to buy all new sensors from a different home security company. Dorothy was my sales person there. Alarm randomly started beeping last night saying it was "offline". When I called the 800 number, they were very friendly and said that a technician would call me back right away. Over an hour later, I called back. I was told that the technician had marked my case as "resolved"- no one had ever called and the system was still beeping. I was told that another technician would call and to call back if I didn't hear back in a half hour. Another 45 minutes go by- nothing. I call back the 3rd time. My case is escalated... another 45 minutes later I FINALLY receive a call from the most miserable, unprofessional technician. He asks me if this is an emergency? I'm not sure- my smoke alarm isn't working, my phone says all my doors are open (they aren't)- you are the technician- why don't you tell ME! He basically asks "what I want him to do about it?" And "yeah sounds like there is an issue with the system..." DUH! The Technician sounds annoyed that someone is actually asking him to do his job. I get nowhere. Eventually at 1am I clear the system myself because I'm sick of listening to it and hope that there isn't an issue overnight. Sorry, for being a customer and an inconvenience. I'll gladly take my business somewhere else. read more

I had an entire new system put in. The tech was great. Installed everything, it was clean and neat. Within one hour of his finishing the job, the cameras started to fail. Multiple calls. I was told to upgrade my internet. I did. Another expense. Cameras still not working. Night vision is a joke. My cameras are pitch black and they said it won't be any better. I tested these out prior to having them Installed. The quality I saw at the demo, the night vision was great. They are non responsive. I've even left messages for corporate that have gone unanswered. The 10 year old cameras from cox that were replaced were better. Now I'm trying to get my money back or get it fixed. Either way you need to talk to someone to do that. read more

You can't go wrong partnering with Alarm New England. Their customer service rivals the best in the business. Very good attention to details. Alexandra was fantastic when reviewing my layout and needs. She developed a home security system that works for me, right down to placement of sensors. They hold true to their word, if something is promised, they deliver, on time. As an engineer, I look at technology differently. All of my technical questions were answered handily with enough detail to satisfy me. Connie was amazing with all the support and answers I needed. Alarm New England sent an email advising me that I need to spend either $115 for DIY or $299 for professional installation to update my alarm communicator which is "a simple chip" in my panel that allows my system to communicate with the central monitoring station. If it is a simple chip, it is surprising that they they will charge me $115 for DIY or $299 for professional installation. That is a very high price to spend for "a simple chip." If I don't pay the fee, my alarm system is useless. As Alarm New England has stated, they have top of the line equipment. I am disappointed that the company won't stand behind their top of the line equipment and mail us the chip at no charge. In addition, I have tried to find another alarm company to service our account and called at least 3 alarm monitoring companies and they will not take over my account because they do not use the equipment used by Alarm New England. If they try to tell you that their equipment is not proprietary and other alarm monitoring companies can service your account with the equipment they install, please investigate because I can't locate a company that will. read more

This is for my summer home. I get these useless texts saying "trouble alert" and no description as to what trouble. Called once and person had no idea and was completely inept. I wrote a review months ago.... sane issue. Can never reach anyone and still can't understand how abd why get so many texts that say nothing except trouble with something. But WHAT? Below is a px. Their on-site team members were very nice, professional, and accommodating to questions and individual unit owner requests. I have had a very bad experience with Alarm New England. They installed their fire alarm monitoring equipment in my 2-family duplex. It does not work! I am now stuck in a 3-year contract. Prior to the installation of their system, we had hard-wired smoke detectors installed, which were inspected and tested by our local fire dept. I wanted the peace of mind knowing that if there was a fire in my home or in my tenant's unit - and I was not home - that our fire dept and I would be notified by their monitoring center. This year alone, I have had *3* instances (due to tenant's careless cooking) in which my hard-wired detectors were activated, but neither my local fire dept, nor I were notified by their central monitoring center!!!! After the first time, Alarm New England sent out a technician. They found "no problems," and then they *billed me* for this service call because as they said, "there was no problem with their equipment." And they advertise a "1-year warranty". The following week after I called and complained, I got a call while I was a work that a tech would be at my home in an hour or so. I told them that I never made that appointment, and that I just want the contract cancelled. They refused. read more
