I am surprised by the excellent ratings. My experience was quite different. The owner showed up to give me a price for a complete air conditioning system with air handler in the attic. I have an old house and am willing to have some walls opened up in order to accommodate a traditional AC system, then have them repaired at my expense. I also have closets that can be used to reach the lower floor. I have 2 estimates so I know it can be done the way I want. From the first, the owner was rude and uninterested. He wanted me to explain how the system would be installed and took no time to try and figure out the best installation. He said it would be hard and showed no interest in doing the job. When I pushed him a bit he said his insulation guy would come put and give me a quote for proper size AC unit and install. I waited a week but have heard nothing from this company. I cannot recommend such a rude and unprofessional person or his company. read more

They always either pick up or call back right away, and they are here within a short time, especially if it's an emergency. They do good work and go above and beyond to make sure that the system is working well and to give advice on how to keep it running smoothly. Very happy and thankful for their service. On Saturday, 7/18/20, in the outset of heat wave (97F) my central AC broke. Sila, who installed it just two years ago, came, charged me $350 for the weekend visit and left in 5 minutes. They told me that they don't replace just condensers, instead, they have to replace the whole outdoor unit (4 grand plus) ,and since somebody else did the maintenance last year, they won't claim warranty with Lenox on my behalf because they "loose their standing". So, they literally left me and my family dead in the water. So, I called Alborz. Sam came on the weekend, did the diagnostics, contacted manufacturer, and a day later my AC is up again. Would not use again. Based on the reviews on Yelp, seemed like a good option, but I was wildly unimpressed for a simple AC servicing. The owner never called me back, so I spoke with the coordinator only, who did not have any idea of price (but said usually ~$150, depending on needs). However, she required a $100 deposit before arrival, which seemed a very high percentage given her inability to confirm a price for a regular tune up. The tech arrived roughly on time, but had a language barrier. His workmanship and conduct was fine, but no one was able to explain any of the work being done, answer questions, or explain the status of the system. After cleaning and servicing the unit for 30 minutes, I was later called with an invoice of $250, despite nothing out of the ordinary being needed. Still, the owner never called to speak with me. They "conceded" charging me $200, stating after the fact a basic service appointment was $250, but undisclosed at scheduling. Seems like a classic bait and switch. Very disappointing. read more

After getting a brand new Bryant furnace last month, our Nest thermostat started acting up - until finally today the heat wouldn't even kick on. With temps beginning to plummet - worried about our 96 year old mother getting cold - we put the Yelp "bat signal" out - knowing that getting someone on a Sunday might be a challenge. We actually got several responses, but Sam was the first to respond - within minutes. Within the hour he was at the house - wearing a mask - and ready for action. He quickly identified that the Nest was malfunctioning. He recommended the Emerson Sensi smart thermostat which he said performs more reliably - and was in his truck. He walked me through the app download/set up - and the heat kicked right back in. One the way out, he also noticed the previous furnace team had installed the inflow/outflow cover backwards - causing a dangerous situation. He fixed that too - at no charge! There was a $180 weekend/emergency fee - but I was happy to pay it when it got us back up and running so quickly and painlessly. read more

I wanted to switch to an independent/small business for my condo heating and air conditioning needs, since I had grown frustrated with the increasingly poor service at a bigger Boston-area company I had long used. I called the number listed on Yelp and Sam responded about an hour after leaving him a voicemail. We discussed the work over the phone (basic annual service of air conditioner unit). I texted him a photo of the equipment and he quoted me a fixed price. We scheduled service for 2 days later for an 8-9am arrival window. At 7:30am he texted with a more specific update of when he would arrive, which I appreciated. He was friendly and professional and seemed fully competent for the work. I had another problem with my A/C. The cold air just stopped blowing at midnight on Sunday. Later in the morning I texted the owner if he would be able to stop by and he texted back a short time later. We setup an appointment for Monday morning. He determined that the control-board had developed some kind of problem where the AC would no longer turn on even if he connected the wires together right on the unit (he suspected the prior faulty thermostat may have caused it). He got it replaced under warranty and by Wednesday morning had it up and running again. Total cost this time was $300 for two hours of time at my place and the time to get the replacement part from Malden. I feel he is fair on the price, is very timely, and doesn't scam you. He made sure to point out that other technicians will get a part replaced for free and then charge you for the part as part of a markup. The part that was replaced cost $600, so that would have been a big difference. read more

I had Alborz Corp come over to my home in Malden to service my boiler, replace a thermostat (with a WiFi thermostat I bought), service all my radiators and cap a black iron pipe. They came over gave me a reasonable estimate and came by a few days later. I was concerned about my heating system. As it was leaking, banging and a mess before they came. They solved all my issues. I was very impressed with the timeliness of their response and generally how helpful they were. We have an older central air conditioning unit that wasn't blowing any cold air. They came out to assess the situation and presented several options, and were very willing to try the cheapest option while being very clear that there were no guarantees that that would work and that we might end up having to pursue a more expensive option anyway.
