My partner and I were trying to go out for a nice dinner and a family member had recommended this location and with excitement we had both went. However, having gone we were met with a rather uninvolved waitress and a manager that was very unhelpful.. we were displeased with the meal we didn't order and when we told them that we wished for some sort of compensation they told us they would give us a free desert(which never happened), And Mind you the bill was 85 dollars for two people who throughly didn't enjoy their meal. The waitress had gotten our order wrong and when attempting to correct she walked away. Once it had arrived the food was very cheap tasting for the price(27 dollars per plate). We were never checked on to make sure the bread was refilled or the water was filled so on so forth, She didn't try to talk to us and made us feel unwelcome.. overall a very bad waitress experience.. it wasn't busy, and she would keep talking and laughing with the table next to us insuring that they were taken care of. As for the manager he had walked up to us very unfriendly like and asked us what we needed, we explained to him what was wrong and he told us that we should have told her sooner in which we explained we felt like inconveniences and that she didn't bother to check on us at all.. he told us that he didn't know what he wanted us to do and that he can't offer even a discount for the food we just spent our money on. We left empty handed and still had to pay for a 4 dollar non refilled soda beverage, cold 20 dollar calamari , pasta that tasted like it had came from a can for 27 dollars and gnocchi drowned in sauce that tasted straight from the chef boyardee ravioli can( which isn't what I ordered for another 27 dollars.) Overall a very unpleasant experience. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you're there for the alcohol. read more

I hesitate to give any negative reviews for restaurants because hospitality is such a difficult business. However, this was our second visit to Alcentro. We chose to dine outside. It was a beautiful night. Very nice space. Service started off well. Seemed like plenty of wait staff. We ordered and the food arrived in a timely fashion. Started with a margharita pizza. Nice crust but a bit floppy due to excessive sauce. The mozzarella was ok. My wife's spinach salad was not much to praise. Basically spinach from a bag with some food service dressing. I ordered the lasagna. Nice description on the menu. It arrived very hot. Plenty of good tasting sauce. There was very little mozzarella or ricotta in / on the nice sized piece. Overall the taste and texture was fair. Nothing objectionable or great. The problem with this piece was that the bottom pasta layer or two was completely hard, over baked, inedible. When I brought this to the attention of our server she said she's never had any complaints about the lasagna. She asked if I wanted something else I said no, I'll eat what I could. A few minutes later the waitress returned and said she spoke with the chef/owner and he said that's because it is baked. Really? Lasagna is baked? Well when you take a cold piece of lasagna and warm it in a 700 degree pizza oven designed to produce a nice crust then burry it with tomato sauce, this is what happens. The restaurant's response to this was unacceptable. You'd expect them to comp the lasagna. The waitresses attitude turned hostile and belligerent instead of apologetic. We probably won't go back. Maybe food quality is why the restaurant was mostly empty. Perhaps Robert Irvine from Restaurant Impossible can help. read more

I really like this restaurant! It was packed on a Friday night around 7:30 but we didn't wait really long. The fried calamari is amazing! Breaded just right and tender. Not fishy tasting. It is worth the money. The bread and olive oil to dip is good tasting olive oil, yum. My hubby had the lasagna. You could tell it was homemade, delicious! I had pasta and red meat sauce that was really good. My martini with blue cheese olives, oh I'll be back for another one of those! We had great, friendly service. All of our food was hot. Husband got the chicken parmesan - the chicken was great, very moist, good sized portion, with cheese on top. They also gave us a bread basket which they kindly refilled ( I love bread!). I honestly wasn't impressed. We started with the Involtini de Melanaza- Was for little rolls about the length of your finger with sauce and melted cheese. Which was decent. Great addition to Bloomingdale! I liked the variety on their menu. There was plenty of seating and I liked the decor. The location is hidden from the Main Street so I can see it being difficult for this restaurant getting exposure. My gnocchi was delicious! It was soft as I like it! I opted for the grilled seafood, but unfortunately, I found the quality of the fish lacking--it had an off-putting taste. The octopus, despite being served with olive oil, carried a strong buttery flavor, suggesting it may have been prepared with a significant amount of butter. I mentioned this to our server when she courteously inquired about our meal early on. However, when she checked in again at the end of the meal, her response to our feedback was less than receptive. I politely explained that I didn't particularly enjoy the fish and wasn't fond of its preparation. To my surprise, she gave me a dismissive look, as if my critique were absurd, and remarked, "Oh, everyone here loves it." Having grown up by the ocean with access to freshly caught seafood daily, while also being accustomed to American culinary standards, I had hoped my feedback would be received more constructively. One of our new fav places. This was at least our third time here. Italian that doesn't break your carb bank! Great ambiance indoors and out. Grilled octopus (w other seafood) appetizer is SOOO good. Any steak is great quality (we had a filet and ribeye last night), and proper proportions of all dishes (not a mountain of substandard fare).
