I highly highly recommend Alchemy Restaurant in the Logan Street Market! The food here is out-of-this-world amazing. The first time I ate here the owner took the time to share about the food and his journey of opening this restaurant. I ordered the arepa with chicken and cheese, and after I placed my order I secretly hoped it wasn't going to be bland and tasteless. Let me tell you, that was not the case! The chicken was so flavorful and delicious. The next time I went back, I ordered the Venezuelan arepa with plantains and shredded beef and once again so delicious! The food is well priced and you can get an entire meal for a decent price. Without a doubt we will be back for more! read more

I visited Alchemy on opening day of the Logan Street Market. I was super excited because we just had an amazing experience at a Venezuelan place in Denver and were lamenting the lack of arepas in Louisville. Alchemy did not let us down! We both ordered the Venezuelan arepa (black beans, plantains,) and they were completely delicious. Arepas are usually gluten free since they are made from white cornmeal but since this wasn't advertised I double checked and the server confirmed that all of the arepas are gluten free. I ordered the Pelua (shredded beef with cheddar cheese). I should've went with Venezuela Arepa for a dollar more as that added black beans and plantains. The arepa was very hard to eat and made a mess to eat as it was very wet and dripped juices all over. I will give this place another chance, but it left me slightly disappointed overall. read more

I walked the entire market before stumbling upon this place. As soon as I approached the counter the owner sparked up a conversation. Explaining the best dishes and that everything was Gluten Free. I had heard of Arepas from a friend of mine and wanted to try them. The owner mentioned this was the only Venezuelan restaurant in the city, and came over to check on us while we were eating. This is the best food I've had in the longest time. Being gluten free I often feel as though I have to settle and eat a salad everywhere I go, rarely do I get to eat carb heavy and indulge. Logan Street Market has become one of our favorite spots to get in out of the cold, browse the shops and grab dinner. The highlight is, of course, the dinner at Alchemy Restaurant! Nelson & Nahyla are so warm and friendly and their authentic Venezuelan food is outstanding. My favorite is the Pabellon Criollo plate: sofrito-flavored shredded beef, white rice, black beans and sweet plantains with a fried egg on top! My wife loves the potato soup and the Venezuela Arepa, which contains many of the same ingredients in a corn meal pocket. The atmosphere is as informal as it gets, but the food is truly special. read more

The arepas are delicious and huge variety, the grilled meats are perfect with cheese and sauce in a bowl and they have vegetarian options as well.
