I'm never disappointed at Alchemy. I highly recommend it as a wonderful spot to have dinner. My family and I dine here often and the food is always amazing! Nelson and his staff and family are always pleasant and accommodating. My kids love everything too! I wouldn't change anything about the menu or offerings. They are amazing at everything they do! Flavorful and unique a gem of a place Alchemy is a Venezuelan restaurant housed in the Logan Street market, a haven Of great food from various venders, most permanent Some pop ups. The Arepas were pillowy delicious dough filled with cheese and meat or other various offerings ( see menu photo) my friends had plate Dark roast beef (Asado Negro ) which was like the best pot roast you've ever had served with sweet plantain's and beans. Food was good. Service was good. Lots of vegetarian options. Margarita was good. If the tables hadn't been so close to each other it would have been a good date night. The table next to us asked to move bc we were right next to t to them and another family was so close on the other side. Maybe they could remove a table from the wall or change out a few 4 tops to 2 tops, so there is more room and privacy. The dipping sauces for my empanadas were wonderful. read more

The food was not very good . They shouldn't be allowed to carry the 5 stars forward from the old restaurant. The rating is misleading The service is not good. I asked the waitress if we can get browned plantains instead of blackened plantains . And she started giving me a lecture about how it has to be that way , and mentioned multiple times that it's black because it has sugar . This is my all time favorite restaurant. The food is absolutely amazing and the service is on point. Everyone that works there is so good and accommodating. They remembered my name after my second visit and knew what I liked. The owner/manager is so on top of things and goes above and beyond. This is the one place my picky son will lick the plate and wants to go to every night... I have no complaints on that. This has to be the best food in Louisville. This is actually very sad for me to leave this review for Alchemy. We support ALL Norton Commons restaurants. I hope they see this and get it together. IF SO, I will delete. And YES I spoke to the manager. We could NOT eat the food but we were still charged. He did give us a future gift card but not near the amount we spent. We had dinner at Alchemy in Norton Commons last week. The Salmon tasted like rubber re-heated frozen food. The veggies were so salty they were not edible. The empanadas were also extremely salty and not edible. The steak we ordered medium was more than well done and very chewy. The mashed potatoes tasted like instant from a box. Ugh...I don't see them making it unless they hire a new chef! SO DISAPPOINTED! read more

This place is amazing! The service was great. My friend has some dietary restrictions and the owner of the restaurant was very accommodating. He directed her to some options on the menu and then followed up with if those didn't sound good to her - to tell him what she wanted and he'd make it happen. I had the patacon and it was fabulous. The outside tostonae was super crisp. This interfered with being able to bite into it like a sandwich. But I ate it like two open face sandwiches. Definitely will try it again! read more

We were able to wait for our food at the bar inside LSM, which is super convenient. It was a busy day, so it took a little while, but the wait was worth it. We got the Venezuela Arepa and a chicken arepa. The Venezuela Arepa is for real and I highly recommend it - even though I'm not a bean person myself, I wouldn't change a thing about this food item. We have visited twice in the last week. Food is excellent. Pomegranate Express Martini is amazing. They have a smoked old fashioned that is extremely popular with bourbon aficionados! We have known owner Nelson for years. His attention to detail and taste is above and beyond! Tried the pork meatballs with white cheddar cheese grits on my first visit. Amazing! I was expecting a bit more from this place after reading some of the reviews. It is very possible I could have ordered the wrong thing on the menu. I wanted something smaller and something more original so I ordered the Venazuela Arepa from the menu. It was super tasty! The pork was incredible and juicy, the cheese tasted great, and the corn sandwich was very crispy! I loved the plantains on the sandwich but I wish there were more on the one I had. I think only two or three bites had a plantain on them. Also the sandwich itself while very tasty was pretty small considering the price. Just a convenience tip, I would recommend using bigger plates, I was trying to eat my Arepa and most of the problem was my plate was so small I didn't have space to cut it up. (It's a bit messy to eat it by hand) So a lot of my sandwich ended up on the table. All and all GREAT flavor and it looked like the best restaurant in the section. So far Ive had two of their Arepas-the Venezula & the Caprese. Yummmm to both! The Caprese was a bit messy (like don't try to eat it while walking around), but I will take messy if its delicious!! Everything I've ever had of theirs is so well proportioned and seasoned, and every time I find myself needing more. Wow. Wow. 10 stars. If you're at Logan Street Market, you have to try Alchemy. Visited this brand new neighborhood marketplace for the first time on Saturday, around 7pm. Walked a few laps, got a drink, then decided we'd try Alchemy Restaurant. I was initially hesitant because I've never tried Venezuelan food, but I've clearly been missing out. There's so much menu variety- choices for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. It was honestly hard to choose one thing because every item on the menu looked delicious. Finally decided on the Arepas Caprese & Venezuela. The Caprese was fresh, light, but filling. The Venezuela- oh my. Plantains, slow cooked shredded beef, and cheese. I will DREAM about that first bite. Nelson, the owner, came around to check on us after we'd had a minute to enjoy our food. He was so friendly and hospitable. He has a contagious happy attitude. I'd keep coming back just to see him. As a final treat, Nelson brought us a one of the fruit tarts. It was the perfect end to a perfect meal. I've got a major sweet tooth and usually fruity desserts don't do it for me, but the whole pieces of fruit and creamy pie filling were amazing. The best part? Nelson's wife makes them all herself! There are plenty of culinary variety at Logan Street Market, but Alchemy is a true hidden gem. Can't wait to go back. Can we get a full-sized restaurant soon?! read more

You pull into this location and it reminds me so much of Reading Market in Philadelphia. We ordered Pabellón Criollo and Pocoton and it was delicious. Today was my second visit to the food truck. Last time I was surprised by plantain being used as the bread in a sandwich. It was good but very hard and the meat, I believe it was steak, was so TOUGH, it had to be deconstructed. Today - I ordered the chicken sandwich on french bread - an $11.00 sandwich turned into $14.00 - puzzled; when handed my purchase, there was an extra surprise carton, so okay but it turned out to be fries that I did not order - they were old, cold and smell rancid. The sandwich has extremely dry chicken chunks, I'm not sure how long they have been around - smothered in cilantro crema, Mmm, and topped with cold, right out of the bag, potatoe shoestrings - yuck! and SALTY.
