Consistently great. One of my favorite low-key spots in downtown Seattle; especially for burgers. Their burgers are juicy, with house-made pickles (so fresh!) and delicious bacon-jam! Wonderful service and wonderful food. We had possibly pasta with shrimp and also rigatoni pasta. They were both excellent. The best part was the dessert. It's a rhubarb blackberry some kind of cobbler that was to die for with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Special orange martini cocktail was delicious as well. We were taken care of by a server named Erika. She was very pleasant and helpful with our selections. The Shrimp Scampi was awesome and my wife loved the grilled salmon. Food - was mediocre and too expensive for the quality. It was difficult to find anything I wanted to eat on menu. Service - see below Ambiance - the 3 table nooks are your best bet. The rest of the place seats like a cafeteria. The decibel level also caliber of a junior high. We could not carry on a normal conversation because we could not hear each other. The acoustics are horrible! We mentioned that to the server and she said it's a known issue. We asked to move tables before ordering since there was one nook that looked like we would be able to converse at. We were told no after several minutes-no explanation given. We asked another person they too said no-no explanation given. The third person also said no but gave an explanation that the table was reserved. ** two of the nooks were empty for over an hour! No one communicated with us again - ie maybe a reservation was cancelled (I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt here). No offer to move us to the desired location was made. The entire dining experience was a big disappointment. Note: the streets of Seattle seemed quiet compared to the obnoxious noise level of the restaurant. Came here for a work lunch and it was OK. Our server seemed a bit out of place or was probably just very overwhelmed as it was busy during the lunch hour. She did fail to provide everyone at the table with menus and missed one of us when taking our order. It also took a while to get our food out and some of us were missing the sides we had ordered. I had ordered the mushroom truffle pasta - it was good the first few bites but the more you ate into it the more saltier it got especially with the after taste. The service was also a bit slow there were people who came in after us who were given the bill while we just sat there and waited but eventually ended up having to get up and move to the front in order for the server to know we were ready to pay. A friend and I stopped for dinner and a drink or two on Sunday 2/16/25. We sat at the bar, the bar had two other patrons, and maybe two or three tables, so lets just say not busy at all. The bartender never once said hi, hello, welcome in, NOTHING!! He did provide us with menus, but never mentioned specials, suggestions, ABSOLUTLY NOTHING... I nudged my friend and said lets at least have a drink, thinking the bartender just had a rough day.. However, a bar or restaurant manager, as well as another server also came behind the bar, made eye contact with me, and again crickets.... no hi, hello, NOTHING AT ALL... We both agreed to finish our drinks and have dinner somewhere else. Don't waste your time here, customer service sucks, and they don't seem to care if your there or not. To be perfectly honest, we almost didn't dine here when we noticed it was attached to a hotel. We are glad we decided to dine in. Started with oysters and they were fresh. We gave this place two tries....Dinner service was nothing to write home about. We arrived to not find a host the first time and had to walk to the front although the restaurant was empty. Seemed like the host was more occupied talking with the bartender... We ordered the caviar tots and they were underwhelming (came stuck to the plate, the salmon caviar might have been toasted under a salamander instead of being a garnish at the end. Caviar was rubbery and got stuck to our teeth) Wine selection was also meh. Best thing we ordered we the Moules Frites. Service was ok for the most part. Came back in the morning to have breakfast keeping in mind our experience yesterday with the mussels being the highlight. We chose the al a carte menu over the buffet partly because it lacked gluten free options because one of us is celiac. Ordered tea (which came with maybe 2in of water in a cup and a packet of tea on the side how infuriating by the time you put your tea bag into the cup you have tepid bath water instead of a tea infusion with not even a pot of water on the side to top off ). Ordered the toast was ok (maybe half of an avocado if I was lucky but didn't care for the cheese spread on top felt like eating a whole container of Boursin cheese to myself). Hubby ordered the oatmeal which was to his description as cold and sad. Also decided to order the parfait (last time I checked a parfait is pre assembled, also was pretty sad wish it came with more granola, yogurt was bland was dying for a little bit of lemon or a pinch of salt) Overall pretty lackluster, would skip this place for breakfast. Interior is pretty and has a interesting vibe but really never not full. Menu for breakfast and buffet is not properly thought out. Neat interior, and the cocktails are pretty good. But unfortunately that's where the praise stops. Prices are quite high, so expectations were also high. But the food was really disappointing. The mushroom pasta was criminally under-seasoned, and I suspect the mushrooms were added to the pan before any effort was made to pre-cook the moisture out of them, so the sauce ended up as a diluted, oil-water mixture. The shrimp cocktail lacked that al dente "bite" you expect, and instead was a mushy mess - either left out too long, or overcooked. They used some nice-looking gulf shrimp, but somehow the prep and cooking turned it all wrong. read more

Alder & Ash is a new gem on the Seattle restaurant scene. Great food with large portions and an extensive and creative bar list. We started with caviar (salmon roe) on tater tots and a wedge salad which were both just a notch short of extraordinary. For mains, we chose their messy but delicious burger and the yummy short ribs with polenta. Full, and with food still on our plates, we shared a huckleberry profiteroles. We did not leave anything behind on that plate. Sharing is a great choice here but they have several small plates, too. We had many tempting items to choose from and are planning a return in two weeks to try them. There is little to contain sounds so if you want to converse with your dinner partners, have an early dinner. By 6:30, the restaurant and bar were half full and the noise level was already challenging. read more

I ordered the Chinook salmon which had a lot of flavor and we also had the short rib which was very rich. The service was fantastic! Heather seated us and gave us wonderful recommendations-- the apple cinnamon G&T was so flavorful and refreshing! For dessert we had a vegan coconut soft serve with extra passion fruit sauce, that was the best vegan soft serve I'd ever had. Patrick was our server for the evening and was very kind and delightful. Came here for brunch before Wicked at the Paramount. Joyce our server was really good and friendly. Had Biscuits and Gravy and husband had the Breakfast Sandwich. Biscuits a little dry and the gravy very spicy. Luckily I like spicy, but if someone didn't, might be a bit much. Overall, not bad. Over medium eggs were perfect. Sandwich was "good." Food was a little slow coming out, but not a huge deal. We had some time to kill so ordered two Coffee Nudges. Neither Joyce nor the bartender knew what a Coffee Nudge was? Pulled it up on our phone to show the bartender. Were assured he could make them. After ten minutes someone new brought the bill, but still no drinks. Joyce showed up as well - surprised we didn't have the drinks. By this time, had to get going so told them to forget it. Will we be back? Probably not. read more

This is for a breakfast dine in order. Great looking restaurant and all around ambiance. I checked out the buffet before sitting down as they offer a small a La carte menu or buffet. Pretty standard nothing special so I went with off the menu. I got lucky enough to get Mandy as my server as she was super friendly and helpful. Probably the best breakfast potatoes I have had as they were seasoned and cooked to perfection. Went with the famous mushroom omelette and added bacon to it.( 7.00 charge so next time I will get a side and probably get more bacon ) Coffee was not as good as I would think being in Seattle but what can we do.
