Our waiter was amazingly effusive and very good at upselling - though I didn't bite at the upsell, I did get a nice mango margarita, which really hit the spot! You can see a pic of it below. But this man was hungry, I ordered a combo plate. It had a beef taco, a tostada, and an enchilada. With just a little bit of rice thrown in for good measure. OK - now here's the thing. Was the food any good? Was the ambience of the restaurant adequate for the price point? Yes and yes! Gotta say I was impressed. And a special shout out to the waiter, who gladly took a picture of us while we were chowing down our meal! Needless to say the waiter made all the difference, frankly - the service was very impressive and the food was pretty darn good too. Oh, I forgot to mention the chips and salsa? Very garlic forward and a nice little spicy hit and was absolute perfection! The funny part of it is that this place was right across the field from where the Seattle Mariners do their spring training - I had brought my mom here, probably 25 years ago as she was a major Mariners fan and wanted to see this place. Of course the restaurant wasn't across the street back then! But what a cool location and what a nice restaurant. Definitely will return when I'm back in the Phoenix area!

The Birria that I added onto the dish for $5 was not Birria it lacked any flavor and was just machaca. Definitely not worth adding onto your dish, as the portion was very small. The empanadas appetizer lacked filling and size, and was a very expensive very small bite. Definitely not worth the price for 5 tiny empanadas 2" by 1". The empanada dough was good though. The green sauce for the Chilaquiles was good and mild, the red sauce for the Chilaquiles was good and flavorful, not hot. I am very surprised and shocked by the score of this restaurant. The overall consensus with our table of everyone's dish was that the food was mediocre. I understand how difficult it is to operate a restaurant, that is why I never write bad reviews. But when the price of the plate and any additional price does not reflect the flavor, depth and value of a plate; it is very disappointing and you feel swindled. If you love good food, and I travel and have lots of different dishes throughout this country, I have a very difficult time recommending this restaurant. Very disappointing and extremely expensive mistake coming here.

We ordered Bean and Cheese Chimichangas with rice and beans. We brought the rice and beans home and just ate the Chimi's. Super big portions. Fried to perfection. Upon arriving and being greeted we waited an inordinate amount of time to be seated. Chips and salsa were delivered to a large table but we were never told that was our table. So we just went and sat down. Apparently it was our table (?) Strange. We were given menus which were quite worn out, but at least clear enough, and we ordered drinks. Most of us had blended House Margaritas. They came in a beer glass which also was peculiar, but the Margarita was good. The menu leaned toward seafood, which frankly I wouldn't order here. I chose the Carne Asada dinner which came with the usual beans, rice, cheese, large grilled pepper, etc., and I got flour tortillas with it The meat was quite good and the meal as one would expect in this type of Mexican food restaurant. Portions were large. The service was fine. I wouldn't call it overly friendly. Overall the food was good, typical run of the mill fare, yet overall the experience was nothing special. I got the impression they just wanted to close up and go home.

I hate to leave this kind of review, but today's visit was very disappointing. The first few times…read moreI ever ate here I did really love the food and service. But each time I come it's like the service gets slower. First off, I ordered a spicy Michelada, and it took forever to be served. After I ordered the drink, I noticed a person who came in after us ordered a corona and was served before my Michelada was ever started. I had to remind the server two or three times. Meanwhile, everyone else in my party had already received their soda. Once my Michelada was brought to the table, it was not spicy, but I still drank it anyway. The same thing happened last time I visited, but I was hoping it was just a one off situation. Last time, someone in my party was ready for a refill of her soda before my Michelada ever came. So moral of the story here is, if you order a drink other than a soda or a bottled beer, expect to wait 30 minutes for your drink to be served even though you might be the only party dining in cuz they clearly give priority to their take out orders. As far as the food, that was also disappointing this time. I do love their quesabirria taco, but this time the tortilla was a little soggy and started breaking apart. I also ordered the Vampiro taco with chicken, and this time in particular, for some reason, it had a fishy taste to it. When we told the server about this, all she could do was to knock off the drink off our order because she claimed that everything was made with fresh ingredients. Since I ordered the michelada, she was able to knock off the taco for me. So sad to say I don't plan on coming back here again. Which sucks because it's so convenient after I get my nails done next-door. But every time I've been there, I do feel not as prioritized because of all the to go orders that come in and there only being one server at a time. I get that can be stressful to handle, but I would think making a drink for people dining in should come before checking out a to go order.
