Bad service. Was in town for a bachlorette weekend and we went here for dinner. First, the food took a long time to come out, then when it did come out it was cold/luke warm. Two of the six orders were messed up and the waitress blamed it on us! Then it took another 10-15 minutes to get the correct order out and the waitress blamed it on the cooks. She never apologized and didn't take anything off our bill. She was rude and slammed our drinks on the table never saying a word to us. She, actually none of the staff, said congrats to the bride and the bride was clearly wearing a sash indicating it was her bachlorette. It was only a group of 6 women, how hard is it to be polite? Needless to say, I would not go back. Additionally, they do have a big draft beer selection. I got the 471 IPA and was not impressed. For a higher quality beer I expected it to taste like a quality beer. I've had better and cheaper IPAs. read more

After countless meals here, I feel confident stating that this place is one of the most consistent restaurants in GJT. If you are looking for good food, decent local beers, and a pleasant ambiance, this is the place to come. The prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly, if sometimes over worked and not as attentive as you might hope. I most highly recommend the following menu items: Southwest Chicken Salad, Greek Chicken (dinner only), and all of the sandwiches/wraps. As for beer, try their taster flights (a new offering!) and make an informed decision before plunging into an entire pint. The Agave wheat, summerbright (seasonal) and Vanilla porter are my favs... their IPAs have too much malt for my taste. read more

The vanilla porter was the best part of our dinner tonight- but it didn't make up for the stale tortilla chips, pale tasteless salsa and " ahi tuna" tacos. After a 15 minute wait for seating( there were plenty of open tables as we were led to a crowded spot by a private party). How disappointing! To top it off the sweet potato chips are gone- now substituted by cold, listless sweet potato fries. Come on Ale House- get a decent salsa recipe, order chips and REAL tortillas from one of our great local tortillarias and bring back your sweet potato chips! read more

Awesome place, great colorado beer. I got the thai peanut skewers as my entree and was not a fan. The chicken had a lot of fat/ gristle still in it and the peanut sauce was cold and didn't seem to have any thai seasoning. read more

I have eaten here a couple of times and have not been impressed. My husband ordered a medium rare burger and it was dry with not a lot of flavor. Been here more times than I can count. I have had the chicken pot pie soup & that was so delicious. We always order the pita and hummus appetizer and that's always good. The steak always is cooked perfect. We went for valentines dinner and the food was ok was actually a little cold but that's the first time I've ever experienced that. I've also ordered the elk meatloaf and love that too. The atmosphere is always interesting and we like to go for live bands. Their wine is always good as well as the beer. Ate here 1st time while visiting. Food is good. Had elk steak w/whipped potatoes and green beans. Elk was delicious though a little dry. Beans were hard (undercooked). Potatoes were good. Overall meal was an 8 out of 10. They had a large selection of craft beers as well as the usual brands. Service was so-so. Nice, albeit a bit clueless, staff and good service. Food had pretty presentation but was incredibly mediocre. Nachos were ok but very little cheese, lots of diced chopped fresh tomato & onion with a sprinkling of black beans - kinda flavorless. Just 3 carrot and celery sticks (along with chips) served with some tasty artichoke dip. When you offer peach 'cobbler' peak peach season, you shouldn't serve peach 'crisp' with blah peach mush! Maybe we just ordered the wrong things or @ happy hour prices my expectations were too high? I'd give them another chance. read more

I am struggling to give it two stars but they do have a few good beers. However, most of their beers are from Breckinridge Brewery which is a mediocre brewery by Colorado standards. If you are in the mood to try several beers don't dare ask for a 12 ounce glass. That is strictly forbidden. You can get a 16 or 22 ounce glass and if you have more than one then you will hopefully have a designated driver. The food is average. Most dishes are basic corporate factory farm meat offerings. Not much there if you are particular about where your food comes from or if you prefer something sustainably grown. Possibly a step above Applebee's. The workers are friendly and the atmosphere is loud. They would be hurting bad if a real ale house opened up in Grand Junction that served a wide variety of Colorado beer and had a decent menu with higher quality food. read more

Ordered the bacon cheese burger and it seemed to have been cooked that morning and reheated. The chicken wings are usually good but they are inconsistent in their preparation. If Barb is your waitress run for the door! I've never been treated so rudely by a waitress. She pulled the menu from my hands as I ordered and walked away before I was finished talking. I wanted to order a salad and ask a few questions about the dish I ordered.....no chance of that!! When I finally caught her attention and asked for the gravy to be on the side, she made this rude exasperated exhale. She slammed the waters down the table. She then proceeds to lecture us on how to order....pointing out that we need to be more specific when we place our orders so we don't inconvenience her and the kitchen staff. She refused to refill our waters, we had them on the edge of the table. She walked by a dozen times and just ignored them. She was even rude when she dropped off the check. None of us could believe what we had just experienced!! I wanted to speak with a manager, but didn't want to make it more uncomfortable for my guests. I just left the Ale House with a horrible experience. We originally asked for inside and it was way too cold so I asked if we could go out to the patio. Our waitress was wonderful we should have never left. We waited for at least 10 minutes for the pissed off hostess to acknowledge our presence.. When she did finally acknowledge us we were clearly a pain in her ass. She sat us with a bad attitude. We just wanted to have a nice evening. My son went to grab his napkin and stopped because it crusted food all over it. When I could finally get her attention to get a new place setting you would have thought I asked her to lick my feet. She took the bundle threw it in with the clean ones (3 feet away, literally it was a step away) and grabbed a new one and slammed it on the table. I should have prefaced this comment with it was a slower Thursday night, it was not busy by any means. When I opened my silverware out popped a food crusted knife. Having been spanked by the snotty hostess multiple times I decided to keep my mouth shut and ask our server for a new set. After having this experience then seeing the prices for the food and eating the food, I am wondering what the hell?! I can go to Bin 707 and several other restaurants in town and get MUCH better service and food and $$$. A message to the Hostess! You should not be doing that job! Do not work with the public, if you are not used to being busy and pressure get the hell out. Having been in many high pressure positions, this is your time to shine and make the most out of your job. We came in to the Ale House kinda late, we did not know if the menu was still dinner. Thankfully the server (Tonya) was very prompt and we got to have dinner. The server was great very sweet and took the time to ask us about "us"! We were on the road all day (traveling to Denver)and was such a nice refreshing dinner and service!
