I just left the Ale House with a horrible experience. We originally asked for inside and it was way too cold so I asked if we could go out to the patio. Our waitress was wonderful we should have never left. We waited for at least 10 minutes for the pissed off hostess to acknowledge our presence.. When she did finally acknowledge us we were clearly a pain in her ass. She sat us with a bad attitude. We just wanted to have a nice evening. My son went to grab his napkin and stopped because it crusted food all over it. When I could finally get her attention to get a new place setting you would have thought I asked her to lick my feet. She took the bundle threw it in with the clean ones (3 feet away, literally it was a step away) and grabbed a new one and slammed it on the table. I should have prefaced this comment with it was a slower Thursday night, it was not busy by any means. When I opened my silverware out popped a food crusted knife. Having been spanked by the snotty hostess multiple times I decided to keep my mouth shut and ask our server for a new set. After having this experience then seeing the prices for the food and eating the food, I am wondering what the hell?! I can go to Bin 707 and several other restaurants in town and get MUCH better service and food and $$$. A message to the Hostess! You should not be doing that job! Do not work with the public, if you are not used to being busy and pressure get the hell out. Having been in many high pressure positions, this is your time to shine and make the most out of your job. I am a migraine sufferer I had a date at "Ale House" last week, I am not a drinker but when I do splurge I ordered a Grey Goose vodka and cranberry juice cocktail (because cheap vodka triggers intense migraines for me, its serious!) I had one drink and after I finished it I had to rush home cutting my date short due to my intense headache. This is no mistake, my head is the perfect barometer for places that serve cheap vodka and charge you for the good stuff! I have never gotten a headache from Grey Goose, thats why I dont mind always paying so much more for it!, it not only ruined my date but I was in bed with a migraine the next day, this is a huge blunder on their part, I'm sure they thought no one would know the difference, I'll never go back and I'm telling all my friends the same thing. I'm so sick of going to the Ale House because every time I sit in the bar area my service is terrible. It's obvious to me that the women scheduled to serve the bar tables can't handle the volume. On Saturday I went with some friends and we all refused to sit at near the bar and decided to try the patio. Kendra, out there was wonderful, she was attentive and friendly and even though she clearly had the entire patio she never skipped a beat, this is the first time I've had good service at this restaurant and I'll be asking for her again. read more

Came here for lunch with a party of four, they weren't slammed but they weren't sitting idle either. The table was so wobbly it almost toppled over, the woman who seated us acted like we were overly picky to ask for some coasters to level it. Place our orders, server was very attentive and helpful in sorting out potential dietary conflicts with menu items. I ordered the skirt steak salad, it arrived with hamburger meat and lacked the promised avocado. Asked the server why I had hamburger meat, he argued with me about whether it was hamburger meat (it was). I took a few bites and then gave up, I really didn't want a hamburger meat salad. He takes my plate away, brings the ticket and let's me know he took half off the price of my salad. I ask him to remove the entire cost of the salad as it was not as advertised and I barely touched it. He removed the charges, and did so cheerfully but I feel like I shouldn't have had to ask. I gave two stars because my lunch companions enjoyed their meal. Had he not argued with me about the hamburger I probably would have let the whole thing slide, definitely would have given three stars. read more

We have been here three different times. I think we like this place alright. It really depends on the level of busy, to determine how great of service you'll receive. We ate here on the first day we arrived in GJ and I ordered a Salmon Quinoa dish and my husband ordered the meat pizza. OMG both were so delicious!! Our service that night was fantastic. Our drink orders were quick and made excellent. Our food was also delivered within a reasonable amount of time and it was hot. The second time we came again service was spot on and drinks were delivered in a great time. We ordered the meat pizza, even though the menu had changed since we were in last and they no longer offered it, they made it for us any way. That was so awesome of them. It was just as delicious as the first time. The third time we came, we had a party of 7 and we sat outside. Our service for this visit was not great at all. Our server (female) was very slow about bringing us water and getting our drink order and bringing our drinks. I ordered a tribute drink of Purple Rain because Prince died on this day and I am a huge, huge fan of that man and his music. It was horrible, I mean I gave them the recipe and they could have looked it up on line, it was not presented how the recipe was written and it was lacking in alcohol, although it was a pretty lavender color it was not the deep purple from the recipe. We ordered our food, although coming very, very slow it was hot and it was delicious. At least the kitchen staff know what their doing. With one bad experience I can't write this place off our list. Best summary of this place is that it's so so. Picked it as a place to eat while spending a night in Grand Junction while driving home to Arizona from Colorado. Arrived to find a nice outdoor patio to sit and enjoy dinner on, unfortunately service was very weak. Once we ordered our drinks, mine arrived in a dirty wine glass, after waiting another 10 minutes to get a new glass, that one came dirty as well, but couldn't seem to get the server to pay attention long enough to get me another glass and by now I am pretty thirsty. Finally got a completely new drink and dinner arrived. I enjoyed my sandwich, but my daughter's fish and chips were over cooked, and my son's calamari was undercooked. Wow. This place looked so promising! The atmosphere is cool and the drink menu looked good. I had a Mai Tai that was pretty good and the hubby ordered the ($16 wth) margarita. He was able to select the tequila, but the drink itself was super acidic and didn't taste like there was much booze in it at all. Why $16??? Moving on, the menu is all over the place with random items that just don't really jive. I couldn't find anything that really jumped out at me so we settled on splitting your basic nachos. While we wait for our food, we notice the bartender eating her dinner. I don't know about you, but I just sort of feel like that should not be happening at this type of establishment. A hole in the wall, ok, but not here. It was gross to watch her eat her food, not wash her hands and continue to serve drinks. Come on..find someone to fill in for you so you can take an appropriate break. Meanwhile, because she's eating she doesn't check on us at all. My husband doesn't care for his drink and wants to order a beer, but he'll have to wait. Our food arrives, it's a big plate of basic nachos: chips, cheese, beans, chicken, green onions.. Hard to screw up. The chicken was good, the rest was greasy and lifeless. Remember, my hubby is still waiting for a drink. At this place they have another server bring the food out - the bartender is still ignoring us. Finally my husband says, excuse me! Super loud and she came over and he was polite and asked for a beer. After that we decided it was time to get the check or we were going to be there for another 30 mins just waiting on her to finish eating or flirting with other male servers. We live in Montrose, so when we go to Junction it is a treat to eat out. The Ale House was always a favorite. The air show was canceled last Saturday. We had family from Canada, Wyoming and Nebraska. We wanted to take them to a nice lunch. I am sorry to say we were very disappointed. Our server was excellent, the food was NOT good! The soup of the day was a bowl of paste, flour and milk, a bowl of canned soup would have been much better. The other meals were not at all like the Ale House used to be. The plates used to be appetizing and appealing to the eye, not now. The food was not quality. I am usually satisfied with the service and the food is usually quite incredible. However, today this was not the case. Our appetizer was brought out by a manager who looked mad and sat the plate down and walked off. No words from him. The appetizer was amazing. Our server brought out our food and never came back to check on us. We never got refills on water or other drinks. Was never asked if we needed anything. Which we did. We watched her walk towards us then turn around and walk off. We watched Barbara attend to other tables multiple times but never came to our table until she saw we were done. The pot pie was bland; basically a bowl of soup with mostly peas and corn with an occasional chicken with a puff top. I love this place! I can't get enough of their menu or beer selection. Service has always been fast & friendly. I highly recommend their Enstrom's Mud Pie for dessert.
