Love Alfred sooo much, and it's truly the best thing to come to Pasadena lol i use to get melrose all the time when I worked on that side and after switching it was just too far to get . Now that it's near home I order their coffee almost everyday and it's perfection! I recently switched to Matcha because my dr said I was drinking too much coffee lol and I will say their matcha is very strong and definitely does the job! I feel equally energized and it's a lot easier on my stomach. I miss their coffee I will still be having it sometimes but now order matcha most frequently and you can add as many matcha shots as you like which is very unique because other places don't let you do that. This place isn't really big enough to stay and work at but more for grab and go. Breakfast items are not really available before 10 AM. I had to wait 10 minutes to order food. I got an iced latte and a bagel. The bagel was tasty but sooo small, it was smaller than the size of my palm. For $6 the bagel was not worth the size. I actually had to look on google maps to figure out the name of the place. "Alfred" was hard to see. Simple easy to read and select coffee menu! New to Pasadena, the staff were friendly, the location is charming, and they have cute branding. But in the end it comes down to the drinks, and the drinks here were average. The matcha latte is unsweetened (glad I asked) so I ordered it with their housemade vanilla syrup. The syrup was at the bottom and even when mixed in I could barely detect the flavor. I actually went back and asked them to add more. The drink wasn't bad but it didn't stand out either; as I said it was simply average. My second time here I ordered the hazelnut latte and I didn't care for how artificially sweet the drink tasted. Anyways, the so-so drinks here just didn't live up to the hype, at least in my opinion. ******************** My Ratings: 1 Star: Terrible; just thinking about it makes me angry. 2 Stars: Wasn't a fan so Not likely to return. 3 Stars: Meh. I have been meaning to try this establishment and finally had the opportunity to do so. It is conveniently located in Old Town Pasadena, a short distance from the Metro Rail/Memorial Park stop. It was a Saturday evening when I walked in and I was greeted with a nice interior, wonderful smell of coffee, and a very short line. I ordered the Iced OG Chagaccino since I always like to try something the establishment is known for on a first visit. The barista was friendly, attentive, and advised that my drink would be out shortly. I happily took a seat at the window and waited. Plently of seating, btw. I received my drink shortly after. The Iced OG Chagaccino: super smooth, not sweet or bitter. It tasted like a very high quality cup of coffee. I did forget that it was layered and needed a gentle shake, so when I got to the end of my drink, I found the sweetness in the monk fruit that was settled on the bottom. My bad, lol. Still a great iced coffee! The ambiance: I enjoyed it! The window seats are facing the street, so you can sip and enjoy the outside environment. I really loved that set up as it kind of gave that cafe feel on the streets of Europe. There was also seating outside. Interior: Very clean and warm. They have a cooler area with drinks, such as kombucha and flavored sparkling waters. They also had a shelf display in which you can purchase their brand in coffee, tea, and general merchandise. I also like how they utilized the wall areas for cushioned bench seating, and the front window for outside facing stool seating. Pretty clever. My overall opinion: I loved it. I was dropping off a friend for a dr. appt. at 7:15 am today and needed a decaf cappuccino and Alfred's was nearby and also open early. I'm glad I came here. The cappuccino tasted very gourmet and they gladly made it in my thermos cup. I was hungry and gave in to the temptation of an almond croissant which was almost too big, but I was up for the challenge. They have other food items besides pastries, but hey it was early. Street parking is free at that time of day, so extra points for that. I'll definitely be back. Some indoor seating with a counter at the window for people watching. read more

Made the walk to this cafe after reading the good reviews on the breakfast burritos. I arrived around 10:30am, the cafe was nearly empty. The staff kinda just stared at me for a sec before very quietly greeting me, mind you the music is blasting in there you can barely hear anything. I forgot what the latte I ordered was called but It was like their "work famous" vanilla latte and I got it with oat milk, I also tried to order food but was told that they could only do a breakfast burrito with no meat and everything else on the menu they were out of. This was quite disappointing especially since it wasn't even late into the day. The coffee took like 5 min even though the shop was empty. After reading a few of their responses reviews in here I see they claim that they "layer" their coffee for their "experience" so you have to stir it, well that would be good to let the customer know bc there's several of us who drank the whole plain coffee before reaching all the syrup at the bottom. I stopped by Alfred and had one of the best classic espresso macchiatos I've ever tasted. Perfectly balanced, smooth, and rich -- exactly how a macchiato should be. The service was just as impressive: friendly, welcoming, and quick. You can tell the team really cares about the quality and the experience. I saw this coffee place while I was walking downtown and thought I would try it since I love coffee. There was one person in line in front of me and they took almost 20 min to give me a simple latte. Came here on a Sunday around noon and the line was short. Ordered the iced matchaga - you can choose between 16oz and 24oz and customize other things such as milk option and even double or triple matcha. The matcha flavor wasn't super strong or overpowering but the drink overall was great and refreshing! There are a couple seats both indoors and outdoors but it's mostly a take out place. It's FREE to be nice! The manager reached out to me which I totally appreciate! I understand we all have our off days, however, this isn't the first time this has happened. This store just opened at the beginning of July 2022, and they've only been open for about a week. Their crew is fully staffed and push out drinks so quick. The inside of the store is small but very clean and organized. The cashier was really friendly and was able to answer all my questions. I'll start off by saying I am a huge fan of Alfred's, I got to the highland park location all the time. I tried out the Pasadena location today and it was overall not great. There was a sweet younger lady working that was so kind and sweet! The guy barista gave me a hard time about me wanting to save my additional drink in the fridge in th at home so it could cool down and be consumed as an ice beverage later in the day. I know it's not proper coffee etiquette to save a hot drink as an ice beverage (even if I let it cool Properly etc) but I bought the drink and I can do what ever I want with it? He was pretty rude and it was really awkward and then shut down the conversation and went on his phone.. the other barista came over and asked about my plans for the day and was very sweet. It felt like she knew that was not cool on his end and was not necessary. The cook in the back was also really sassy to the woman barista when she asked for my bagels. The cook in the back was touching her gave a lot when making my bagels and wasn't hygienic.... That sweet barista was so kind and did such a great job. Safe to say I will probably make the extra treck to avoid this location and stick with highland park... read more

Alfred in Pasadena is a great place for coffee and something to eat, even of you do not have a butler! We ordered a vanilla latte, a lavender latte, a Rico Sauve Breakfast Burrito, and a Jalapeno Bagel with avocado mash and microgreens. The vanilla latte was special with great coffee mixed with Alfred's own real vanilla bean syrup. So good! The lavendar latte was the best lavender latte we have tried with wonderful coffee which is flavored with housemade lavender syrup. Yum! The jalapeno bagel was toasted and had a nice zing that was paired well with the seasoned avocado mash and microgreens. The Rico Suave burrito was constructed with fried egg, avocado, tater tots, bacon, cheddar and cotija cheese. Exactly what a person needs in a breakfast burrito! It was delicious. We loved our first visit to Alfred. There are many other food options to try here so we will definitely be back. Next time though we will remember, "But first, coffee!" read more

Coffee was really good! I ordered the cold brew with oat milk. They have an outside patio area on the side to sit which was cozy but the seating is limited and the staff seems to hog up a table or two for their breaks which I find a little disappointing. Inside is very limited seating also. Coffee rating is 8/10 but seating is probably 4/10 just because it's very limited and their staff does hog up a couple of tables from what I've seen for their breaks. read more

I went to this location for the first time recently and love it just as much as their SilverLake location. They have many more locations than these two though, FYI. I ordered the iced vanilla latte with their "World Famous Vanilla Syrup", which you can buy a bottle of to take home to make your own vanilla lattes. When you get your drink, the syrup is at the bottom of the drink. Make sure to stir to mix that yummy goodness with the caffeinated milky portion of your drink. You'll end up with a tasty concoction to fuel you for at least the morning. Ambience - this shop is cute, very in line with their other locations. They were playing the JAMS too! I was grooving to their entire playlist (think 90s, 00s)! Staff was super friendly and welcoming! Parking - you can park in one of the structures around town, 90 min free. There is metered street parking. Seating - this is more of a to-go kinda place. There is a built-in bench at the side window and a bar top with stools at the front-facing window. Personally would not sit there and work on a laptop or read a book. I'd maybe meet a friend here to grab a coffee, chat for a little, and then move about our day with some window shopping. read more

Oh man, I'm definitely addicted. After trying Alfred's for the first time, it definitely had me second guessing my usual coffee spot. The vanilla latte (iced or hot) is so good! You can taste the quality in the coffee and the vanilla syrup. Not overly sweet, just right. I usually try to stop by early in the morning before snagging a parking spot becomes nearly impossible. I suggest ordering ahead on the app. I do wish that they offered a rewards program of some sort, but besides that Alfred's is the best around. read more

I do think their coffee/matcha at this location is a little "off", in terms of too much milk to coffee ratio, not too much off but noticeable since I go to the Burbank location as well.
