I normally get take out, but this time we ate in. OK it was Mothers Day, But we called the day before and had reservations. We arrived a bit early thinking this place wax going to be crazy like all other restaurants are on Mothers Day, it was busy ish. There were plenty of open tables and one large group. We were seated in a very reasonable amount of time, then we continued to sit there for about 10-15 minutes with out a waitress coming over to even take a drink order. A waiter walked past us two or three times and I made eye contact, hoping to get some service. This did not work. I then went up to the bar and polity said we had been sitting at our table for about 15 minutes an have yet to place our drink order. After I sat at our table for a few more minutes 3 or 4 waitresses come into the room and all began to clean one table and talk to each other. This was very rude as we had still not been waited on. After they left and returned my fiance had to go up to them and again ask for a waitress. Finally we were waited on, but she was a little rude and short with us. Pardon us for coming into a restaurant expecting service. Sorry to pry you away from your riveting conversation. After we asked to be waited on twice and delt with the rude waitress, we were content for the rest of our meal. The food was good, as it always is, but the service it not. I was doing work in Southside Scranton and wanted to eat. The place was close and I didn't want fast food. The place is dark. Since I eat alone a lot, I generally read the paper. It's not usually a problem. It was very difficult to read in here as the place is poorly lit. The service was slow. It was a slow Monday, so they can't blame it on being busy. I ordered veal parm. The sauce was uninspired. And the pasta was nothing special. Probably since I couldn't see anything in the dark, my other senses were working harder. I know a bunch of better Italian restaurants. Went there for a nice lunch at 11:00 with my wife she ordered chicken calabrese, she loved it I ordered chicken Marsala there was only two little pieces of chicken, and a mushroom sauce and a burnt tried baked pot. While her meal came with 7 pieces of chicken a lot of sausage, sliced potatoes, peppers and onions. We also ordered bruschetta as an appetizer, which was delicious as well. My most complaint of our experience was my dinner. For 18.00 my plate wasn't only lacking food but what was there wasn't good. Couldn't even eat the baked potato. Showed it to our server Nancy Chief (who was an amazing server) who was totally understandable about our issue and even carried my plate of food to the owner. The owner refused to rectify the issue. Our order # was 1005448. My second issue would be that we got there at 11 as soon as they opened and didn't receive our meals until 12:15pm. There was NOT many guests at the time so not sure what took so long to be served. Owner was very rude and NOT accommodating at all!!! We will NOT be returning after this. Thank god for our server Nancy (station 7) other wise our whole lunch date would of been totally ruined. It's not even the money part, that bothered us most. It was how dismissive the OWNER was to us and our issue. Even after our server showing her my plate she didn't even come to our table to apologize or anything whatsoever. All I can say is just.... WOW. The double-crusted stuffed white pizza is just something out of this world nor something you can get anywhere else. You also can't go wrong with a traditional square red cut. It's always a must when I come into Scranton. Alfredo's has a giant menu with a huge selection and something for everyone. The pizza here is great, but like others have mentioned, the service is terrible. I recently ordered take out from here and even that service is awful. The person in front of me came to pick up her pizza, but the person waiting on her said someone already got it. Obviously they gave the wrong item to the wrong customer. She didn't apologize and had a flippant attitude about the situation. I enjoyed my food, but the ordeal for the other customer will make me think twice about ordering from here. read more

Had a bad experience last time there for dinner. Service was really slow and meals served cold. Thought I would give it another try today for lunch. Nothing has changed. Service was very slow. My Cobb salad I was right out of a bag with finally chopped ham and cheese spread over the top along with a couple hard-boiled eggs. I expressed my displeasure with the waitress who took a look at the salad and went back to get more meat and cheese once again came out finally diced. Lettuce seemed old. She just felt bad and gave us an extra drink to try to compensate. I don't believe it was her fault as she did everything she could to make the lunch more pleasurable. Alfredo's never seems to disappoint.... until this time. The bruschetta was so over dressed with balsamic. The bruschetta was WARM due to it being heated to melt a relatively useless ball of mozzarella cheese (that wasn't well melted). The bread was better after dumping the bruschetta and mozzarella off. Tell the chef to ease up on the balsamic. The pretzel chicken entree is the reason why this restaurant is getting 3 stars. If you're considering ordering it, just do it. You'll thank me. read more

I sent a message to the management via IM to express my concerns of my most recent visit to no avail. There are many more pizza places we could have gone, but we are faithful to Alfredos. However, it will be a long time before we come back after this bad experience We (party of 4) arrived at 9:40 (04/30/21) & waited to be seated, only to have a waitress rudely tell us you close at 10:00 and walked away. Another waitress, I believe who was the hostess, said she would seat us. However, a young man came over, manager on duty, and said "we stop seating at 9:30" with the same attitude as the first waitress. We said ok we can go somewhere else, but the hostess said she would stay and wait on us if it was an issue for someone to and she sat us down. Tiffany, came over to take our drink/food order. We placed our drink order and she came right back to get our food order. We ordered appetizers and she was walking away before we could finish ordering the rest of our food. She then turned and had an attitude that we were not done with just ordering appetizers. Our food came out and we wanted to order more drinks, to which she said the bar is closed. She never came over prior to the bar closing to ask if we would like another drink because the bar would be closing. She brought our bill over prior to us even finishing our pizza. We requested the bill be split between two credit cards. We later found out that my husband was charged the full price. Tiffany was in such a rush for us to leave she ran our credit card twice, we had two separate receipts (one my husband signed & the other my brother in law signed believing they were each charged) We have been coming to Alfredos for many many years and never received such horrible service and bad attitudes. read more

IF I CAN GIVE A ZEROOO I would ! I came here for my sisters baby shower and as sooon as I walked in the energy was HORRIBLE. The owners like 80 as his girlfriend is like 50 , clearly using him for his money but that's NOT the point... she kept looking at my family and I with disgusting faces. At first I didn't know I was not the only one receiving this energy til I went to order food and waited in the other room. When she saw me ordering she went walking around the kitchen , spoke to one of the lady's who looked right at me then tippy toed pretending to look into the other room as the doors had windows(that she can clearly see through). The same lady reported to the man that took my order right as the owners girl walks out the kitchen and gives us a dirty look again, I walked right behind her , back towards the bar into the room I was renting & said "now I don't want that food." I told my sister I'll be back cause I wanted food elsewhere as I see my sister packing her baby shower stuff and she tells me how the lady has been grilling her as well since she walked in. We was told we had tables and a room over a call then after 30 minutes of us being there they said they was going to limit our tables after two hours & asked did we want them to bring our cake out. We not only felt unwelcomed but rushed as well. Again that was NOT supposed to happen. Now the bill.... come to find out they charged some of my people separately , as we paid a "whole bill" THEN after we left they charged a card they gave us a problem to charge in the first place cause the female was not with us at the moment. So in the end we paid about $300 && less than 5 people ate pizza there . HORRIBLE SERVICE , UNPROFESSIONAL && they are definitely racist!!! Worst experience ever ! Waiter took our order right away and that was the only good thing that happened. let me start with the Resturant was NOT busy at all , after 40 min he finally brought our salads , we asked for pepper and he never brought it , I called him over and asked ware our dinner bread was because after all the other tables had it , he proceeds to tell me that it would take too long for that , I insisted on having the bread and he brought it in five min , by then an hour had passed , I asked ware our food was and he responded that he was not cooking , never seen him again at this point it was two hours he finally dropped our cold food to us never checked on us , the food was cold , and horrible , we did not eat any of it ,had to call him over to get the check , and paid over $70 for this terrible food and terrible service. For a pizza place located in a strip mall, this place is a class act and delicious to boot. I once got drunk off of martinis in the middle of the day there, too! Not only is their square yumtastic (the first type I've had there) but surprisingly their round is also very good. Nothing beats the crazy cheese combination and thick crunch bread combo of the Sicilian, though. So I'd stick with that if I were you. The outdoor seating allows you to watch people park their cars to go to one of the many other establishments, like to a Chinese food place or dollar store or H&R Block. I wouldn't order out from this place. Did it once, and it took 90 years* to get my two trays. And I was driving in from Olyphant to get it, so it wasn't like I showed up 5 minutes later expecting my food. It's pretty much a cluster in there at night, so avoid that. *exaggeration read more

Ordered delivery from here for The Office connection and was pleasantly surprised. First, I did not have ANY issue with the delivery service, as is so frequently stated in these reviews. I ordered without issue and my food came promptly when they said it would. Onto the food... I ordered the square tray, thick crust pizza and while this is typically not my style it appeared as though they specialize in it so I went for it. I have to say, it was really quite good. The crust was absolutely perfect... a nice chew on the inside with a really crispy, buttery, golden outside. The sauce was also really tasty and I wished they put more on it. The cheese was uniquely melty in a way I couldn't quite put my finger on, but in a good way nonetheless. The only real issue I had with the pizza, and the only reason it lost a star, is that the sausage was COMPLETELY tasteless. I wouldn't have noticed there was sausage on my pizza if not for the texture as I was eating, and a pulled of a few pieces to try on their own and literally tasted nothing. That shouldn't be. So, Alfredo's, if you're reading... put more of that delicious sauce on your pizzas and season your sausage! read more

Resting on the laurels of what this place used to be. There are too many good options in Scranton anymore for an establishment to be so indifferent to their in-house customers and service. I've eaten here many times throughout my life and an air of indifference never ceases to permeate the dining area. The food is usually good, but today the usual sub par service coupled with an hour and a half wait for 2 trays of pizza pushed me over the edge. Pizza not only took forever (while 3 other tables came after us, got pizza, and left,) but one was cold and the other was undercooked entirely. Wish management would get their act together because this place has so much potential to be awesome and used to be the best of the best. read more

Alfredo's is what home tastes like to me. I grew up in Scranton and now live in Pittsburgh. My big brother introduced me to Alfredo's 20 years ago. Thick, crispy, and chewy crust. Amazing mix of cheeses that are so creamy. Tangy sauce. Pepperoni and sausage and extra cheese - yum!. And a bar! And take-out beer! What more can you ask for? Okay, so they're slow. Okay, so their service is not the best at the tables. So they lose a star. But the food,man... the pizza is a must every time I visit home. Three tray minimum for takeout. That way you don't have to put up with the spotty service. In from out of town? Do what I do. Get it par-baked. Then put it on ice for the trip home. Put it on a heavy baking pan and pop it in the oven. Now get out there and eat! read more

We came here on an "OFFICE" tour from NY! It's known that NY has the best pizza..... we'll get to Alfredo's when you are in Scranton!!! The pizza was by far one of the best pizzas I have had to date! I've tried Pasty's , Joe's and Don Peppin in New Haven and so far Alfredo's blows them out of the water! Fresh cheese, sauce ( with fresh tomatoes) and crust , this pizza had tremendous flavor. The place seemed on old side but the staff and ambiance was great! We even had the Brownie desert which was great! Our server was Michael who kept up on us and made sure our experience was memorable. Very good pizza!! I ordered the pan pizza with pepperoni. It was really tasty. I love how the cheese melts in your mouth! I only ordered the half tray which was plenty enough, 6 cuts total which is perfect for one REALLY hungry person or two hungry people. We also ordered the stuffed mushrooms which were fantastic. The reason for the 3 stars is the slowness of the food coming out. We waited over an hour for our food, 2 trays of Pizza and 3 sandwiches. Our Waitress was friendly and attentive. When the pizza came it was delicious, however I would most likely think twice to go to dinner here. Also the Wine list is not updated and they were out of 2 of the pinot grigo wine choices. I was disappointed, im a Huge office fan and I made the pilgrimage to Scranton from Fayetteville, NC to hunt down the location. Our server didn't show up for 30min. Would have given it an extra star, but this time the hot pepper pizza (our typical order) was absolutely horrible. The Salads are disappointing. I ordered a spinach salad with hot dressing. I received a bunch of spinach, a few peppers, very little bacon and a 1/2 of an egg for just under $10 and cold dressing in a cup. When I asked about the "hot" dressing, I was told that it was called Hot dressing because it is spicy. That is not traditional spinach salad. It was also take out and I received a fork. I do like the food here but the service is not at all where it should be. Went there on Sat night and it was not too crowded. Ordered an appetizer and 2 subs and fries. I have been eating at Alfredo's since I am a young girl. I am 40 years old now and the food at Aldredo's just seems to get better and better. Their pizza is delicious and we like ours topped with sweet peppers! My favorite item on the menu is the Strawberry Salad with Brie Cheese and carmelized walnuts! It is so good!
