Excellent. Their hummus is some of the best I've ever had, I love the schwarma (I've had chicken and beef), one order was enough for several lunches, and it was just as tasty the second day. The rice is tasty, I like the salad dressing. I've only gotten food to go but every time I've been in the staff is remarkably attentive and friendly. I come here so often they know my name and order, though that's not uncommon here as everyone is super friendly and takes the time get to know their customers. Food here is authentic and delicious and pretty reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. They also do a great charity event on Sunday nights to feed homeless which is awesome. Wow! Went here with my wife on a date... fast forward 5 visits later the whole family (yup two kids) love it. Tasty, simple, good and healthy. Gotta try the falafull balls. The inside is decorated just enough to feel like your not in Simi yet still at your local fav resturante. We simply get the family spil it meals (Kabob rice balls and a salad). Ali Babas Cafe in Simi Valley is a hop skip and a jump (literally) from where I work. They made sure I felt welcome in their restaurant the second I entered and have not wavered from that intensity since. pros: - authentic middle eastern food - best chicken shwarma around - amazing owner and staff - fast service cons: - far-removed location (center of simi valley) - don't seat 30 minutes prior to closing although i grew up on middle eastern food (my mom was born and raised in lebanon), i frequented ali baba's at least once a week during middle and high school. even she was obsessed. the authenticity and quality are unparalleled compared to other middle eastern restaurants i have tried. they have actual tahini sauce (not only tzatziki like everyone else), hummus, and stuffed grape leaves all made in house. my favorite dish by leaps and bounds is their chicken shwarma plate, but their salmon shwarma is also yummy. omar, the owner, and matt, the head server, are the friendliest and kindest people you'll meet. omar even runs monthly food drives for the homeless. important note: this ali baba's location is run by a different owner than the newbury park location, which is run by omar's brother. the newbury park location gave me food poisoning on two separate occasions, but don't fear. omar and his brother disagree so fundamentally on business operations that they don't collaborate at all in making food. opt for the simi valley location, you won't regret it. read more

I don't often write reviews but I have to give a shout out to this place. Everything we ordered was fresh and tasty, and the servers were so friendly, attentive and accommodating. They were constantly checking on us and filling our water cups. But what was extra special was how they accomodated my MIL. We brought my MIL who is difficult to feed because she has multiple food allergies to almost all spices. The cook, Omar, came out of the kitchen to talk to her about her food allergies to make sure he prepared it in such a way that she could eat it without having an allergic reaction. She ordered the lamb kebab and was so happy she could eat it and it was delicious! He came out again while she was eating to check up on her and make sure it was ok. We were so delighted that we came back again for dinner the same day after our visit to the Reagan library! Great food, super friendly service and reasonable prices. Wow. "Dinner for 2" is more like dinner for 4 or dinner for later. This was our first time here and we wanted to try a few things so the waiter suggested the "Dinner 4 Two" meal. It was perfect. It comes with salad, 4 falafels, a heaping amount of soft, fluffy, light rice and meat (we got both chicken and beef) pita bread and then ordered a side of hummus. Best damn hummus I've had. Never had salmon shawarma before and it was very flavorful :) the only thing I recommend as constructive criticism is the girl server needs to be a little more observant my water was empty and I was making a sucking noise and she kind of ignored it while she was at my table. We've been here several times in the last few months. We are very happy with the food but the service, while always pleasant, is lacking. The last two times we visited I ordered appetizers but did not receive them. On the first occasion it was on the bill but we had them remove it. This time it just never showed up at the table but at least was not on the bill. I also ran out of water this visit and waited 10 minutes for someone to offer more. They didn't even offer desert - perhaps they could tell I was a little irked and ready to go. Very flavorful lemon and oil on the grape leaves, wonderful oil and red pepper on the hummus. The beef was well seasoned with textures of both crispiness and moistness. This place, guys. I can't even explain how great it is. The BEST hummus around - not even kidding. They do have this one waitress that is sometimes rude, but oh well. All you need to know about this place is...BEST HUMMUS EVER. Once I asked for a sample of the soup. I had to buy the soup. Really? I bought it and wished I had been given the opportunity to taste it before committing to (and paying for) a cup. The shawarma and kebabs are great, but the hummus is my favorite. They do not have a liquor license, you can't get a beer. I usually get take-out. Aaron (?) is THE server, he does a great job and I think he lives there?? You'll see him every time, so don't be cheap with your tips. He works very hard and is dedicated. No, I don't know him personally or benefit from his income...just sayin. He can tell you any detail about the menu and how each dish is prepared. Most servers don't know or care about the food they serve. Don't be in a hurry when you go to this restaurant; each dish is prepared to order, and it takes time. Get the large hummus and eat it while you wait. My first visit here! Totally cute and tucked away in this strip mall but it's really nice inside. They even have an outdoor seated area out front by the parking lot, but it's secluded, slightly shady, small amount of sun with beautiful tall potted plants. You won't feel like you're outside next to parked cars. The inside is intimate. Staff is super friendly and helpful with choosing menu items. I ordered a large Ali Baba salad and a beef shawarma sandwich to go. So delicious! That's one meal for lunch and the large salad for dinner for just under $16. read more
