The mushroom paste is a delicious addition to a classic sandwich and the hot spread adds a nice amount of heat. The bread has a great chew and the sandwich itself is pretty big. I ordered takeout and it was amazing. Their il Sole sandwich was great. The focaccia was fresh and one of the softest I've ever had. The ingredients were fresh. The hot jam was a great addition. Although I had a negative first experience, I have come back to update my review because I really feel that Alidoro had held themselves accountable and showed that they care about their customers. The manager was nice enough to reach out, inviting me and a friend to come back to the shop to experience a proper Alidoro experience and told us the sandwiches will be on the house. This time around, I ordered the Alyssa sandwich on focaccia (hot) and I thoroughly enjoyed it! My order was made properly and the portion was quite sizable. Lunch rush can be hectic and the service was terrible. I had the Italian Cheesesteak. It came out to over $16 which is pricey but the sandwich was large enough to share between 2 people. The roast beef was extremely dry as if it was reheated several times. I should've probably stuck with cold cuts. The bread was chewy, toasted and pressed very thin. Be aware though, it gets pretty crowded and it can be pretty overwhelming around lunchtime, so the earlier, the better... The pesto mayo is amaaaazing and I love the hot soppressata. It just has a great selections of meats, cheeses, and spreads. As I write this, my mouth is watering... Be warned though, it's pretty ridiculously expensive. The cashier put in the wrong order and I got a Maria (ham based sandwich). Luckily I heard them say Maria! Without opening the bag I returned the sandwich and once again confirmed I wanted the Chiara and no egg. Finally got the right one and it was hot & delish. Albeit smaller bun than expected. Basil pesto & mozzarella are a good combo on a brioche bun. The sandwich today was $3 (normally $4.50 I think). I wish they had more veg or vegan friendly options. The illy black coffee was standard. Walked in into the Bryant Park location for lunch one day, now I have to go every chance I get. My favorite sandwich is the Romeo. It's simple but the meat is so perfectly laid, it's gorgeous; and hits the spot every time. Plus, the ladies that run the front (I think they are managers) are always helpful with new recommendations when I'm craving something different. This really is "as good as it gets" in terms of midtown sandwiches, so the 5 stars are deserved. I've gone with the "Matthew" and the "Alyssa" on a number of occasions, and they never let me down. It all starts with the bread - always super fresh. The prosciutto is better quality than anything in a deli, the mozzarella is top notch, and the secret sauce makes the difference. They've improved their queue management tremendously as well. No wonder why I saw one of those "Best Sandwich" tv shows filming there one time. Such an adorable little Italian sandwich shop! I love the Pinocchio and the porcetta, but all the sandwiches are good. The ingredients seem very high end and the bread is very fresh. My only gripes about this place is that they charge extra for almost all kinds of bread and that one of the cashiers (Jessica? - name on the check) is incredibly rude. I asked her for a sandwich recommendation and she basically barked at me. Afterwards she dismissively handed me the check to sign and got irritated when it wasn't signed asap. I heard about Alidoro through an IG post. I went to the Penn Station location as the one in SoHo typically closes around 5. I ordered the Matthew. They have a lot of premade Matthew sandwiches, but since I didn't know how long they had been sitting out there, the woman behind the counter offered to make it fresh. It was really good. A lot of prosciutto in the sandwich and they don't overdo the dressing. Definitely recommend. I've been there twice in a week. I've ordered their sandwiches on many occasions, and my trading floor often orders platters for catering, but catering is ridiculously stingy with their fillings. I wouldn't recommend. The place itself is always packed and they may omit an order here and there. After watching others grab their sandwiches, I inquired about mine and they hastily assembled it. I prefer their hot over cold sandwiches, especially the Pinocchio filled with prosciutto, sopressata, fresh mozz, sweet roasted peppers, and a pungent olive paste. The bread is a bit hard and the meats were salty, but definitely top-notch cured quality. Their donnoli pastry is a cross between a donut and cannoli. It can be oily, and the white cannoli cream is significantly better than the chocolate hazelnut. Pulling the spiraled pastry apart is half the fun. First time here at a recommendation from a coworker. Sandwich prices are a little steep (starting at 13$+), but the sandwiches are pretty big. Definitely higher quality than a footlong sandwich from Subway. I had the BRANDO, a roast chicken based sandwich, while my colleague had the cheesesteak. Upon opening my sandwich at my desk, I noticed the sandwich fillings did not fill the length of the sandwich (parts of the ends were just basically bread). The Brando was a delicious combination of mainly chicken and provolone. There were a couple slivers of sweet roasted peppers, and two to three pieces of arugula mixed in. Overall decent sandwiches. May make the trek out from the office a couple times a year, but probably wont be a goto lunch spot. read more

I added sauteed mushrooms with my sandwich order. I opened the sandwich up no mushrooms to be found. I headed to the counter and asked the woman for some mushrooms on the side. Before the woman goes to get mushrooms, she grabs a potato chip and puts it into her mouth. I'm just disgusted and debated whether I still wanted those mushrooms. She hands it over and at the same time the man that took my order exclaims I forgot to add mushrooms to your order you weren't charged...okay fine. Mind you...I'm already jumbled up in my head about the woman shoving food in her mouth as she's preparing people's food, regardless of her not making the sandwiches, no one wants to see you shove food down your mouth handling food. I asked the man to repeat what he was saying...then out of the blue a skinnier crusty woman just came out of nowhere chimed in and already had this negative and condescending vibe. With all that, I was willing to let the potato chip eating, the guy forgetting to put mushrooms go and just walk out, but it was this woman that felt the need to jump in that made me feel fed up and told her I wanted my money back and gave them the sandwich back. The skinnier woman then proceeds to tell her coworkers I got this. Then she motions or acts like she did something on the computer and says you'll get your money back 2-5 days. I asked for a receipt or show me you did this transaction. She said we don't have a manager on duty so I can't provide you with one. I said I need proof that you did something. A "supervisor" approaches and they explain to her blowing things out of proportion, I got heated, so I started yelling back. A couple of the other workers came around and tried to calm me down. They were nice about it and tried to remedy the situation. I understand it was bad behavior on my part to yell in the establishment, but I felt the woman at the register was deceiving me. I just left without "the manager" trying to help me. I don't really need to be refunded, but the sad thing is I initially tipped them well which I usually do with food establishments, well I guess they can keep that, too. I go to Alidoro when I want a small breakfast sandwich that packs a punch! The staff here is always friendly and they greet you as soon as you walk in the door. Everyone is usually wearing a smile when I walk in. Today I ordered the Davide which is a hard poached egg, smoked sliced chicken, a smear of bel pase, loads of hot peppers and it is on a mini brioche bun. It is made fresh while you wait the 5 minutes for it to be all put together. This mini breakfast sandwich is loaded with flavor and you only need one to get over those hunger pains. I would definitely go back to this restaurant and pick up this breakfast sandwich for $3.50 in Midtown. I cannot wait to go back and try there lunch items. read more
