As highly rated as this place was, I do not recommend it. It was our most expensive breakfast in Honolulu. we spent over $50 on two coffees and two breakfst entrees. The breakfast sandwhich was tasty yet overpowered by a thick ciabatta bun. The eggs were made into a patty so you don't get that runny yolk or great texture that eggs boast. The coffee was fair but not sure where the hype was in all of this. Prices on the menu are hard to find but let me clue you in- the breakfast sandwich was $16 and seemingly all similar offerings are in that price range. These prices seem egregious and inappropriate. I've been here twice as they've only been open about a couple of months. Ali'i Coffee is situated in the old spot vacated by Let Them Eat Cupcakes in Chinatown. There is a decent amount of seating. First visit - as they specialize in cold brew beverages - I got the Black Nitro...which was comparable to the best nitro cold brews that I've drank in HNL. This past Monday, had The King...cause it was a Monday & I was feeling more like The Fool. Add ice, cream, coconut & chocolate syrup to a cold brew and you have a sweet, refreshing summer beverage. 4 stars only as I've yet to have a hot coffee drink or any food item. I normally stick to coffee shops I know & love or opt out for Starbucks...but thank goodness I gave this shop a try! Interior is small and clean. The chalkboard menu is located on the right hand side once you enter the door. The menu was big and well written, so that was good. Staff was nice, welcoming me as soon as I got in. They were patient as I looked over their interesting coffee flavors. I went with the "King" cold brew. Let me tell you... it's sooo delicious. I wish I could've ordered a bigger one. I also ordered a chia bowl/cup which was on the side in an ice bath. The chia bowl/cup has granola, mac nut and pieces of fruits. Light, filling and refreshing. Would definitely come here again. This out of the way, don't blink because you might miss it, little coffee shop on the outskirts of downtown Honolulu and Chinatown is a cute, cozy little place with great coffee drinks, service, and more. So I was in town on business and saw this place after lunch and figured why not and get a little afternoon pick me up. I like my lattes and flat whites and occasionally a flavored coffee drink as long as it is not dripping with sweet sauces and topped with whipped cream. An interesting item stuck out on their menu and I figured I would take a chance as I like both of the flavors in the drink name. The Taro Ube Latte has got to be the best flavored latte I have ever had. It wasn't sickening sweet, yet you could totally taste the flavors at the same time enjoying it as a coffee. I was also amazed at the multi colored leaf color design that the barista signed off her masterpiece on top. Everyone was so nice and pleasant there. Their prices were also very good. Despite the noisy and busy street outside, it was very comfortable inside to enjoy your cup of joe away from the madness of the city. Drinks, drinks, drinks! Their cofftails like the Ono Coconut are creative and having tea on tap is nice as well. Recently and for a time, the purple haze tea has been on my top-list because it's made with the great-for-you butterfly pea flowers (anchan). They have a few daily pastry they get from a baker, but the also make avocado toast, salads (I like the kale one) and sandwiches (the turkey is good), which are good for quick-ish work-lunches. Just remember this is not a fast food chain, so it will take a bit for the food to be made. So grab a drink and check out the interesting (and rotating) art they showcase. I've been here twice, pictured is my second time. First time I got the Ube coffee, it is so amazing. Who would've thought ube in coffee??? You can actually taste the ube too the flavors really compliment each other. The second time (pictured) I got the matcha, it was not sweet at all and there were still some clumps of matcha in the drink. Also my boyfriend asked the cashier which is a good milk for his coffee and she kind of just went they're all good. Give us your opinion!! We love to hear your favorite way to drink it. While wandering around Chinatown in Honolulu, I found myself craving some coffee after lunch, as I do often. I found a place that had a lot of good reviews, Ali'I Coffee, so I decided to check it out. The coffee shop has a hipster feel, with a large menu on the right hand side written in white chalk and plenty of tables with customers sipping on their drinks and tapping away on their laptops. While I was looking up at the menu, trying to decide what to do, the (what I assumed to be) shop owner came over and helped me choose. He was very friendly and explained some of the different drink options. I really liked that they had many different types of cold brews and "coffee-tails," like mixed coffee drinks rather than cocktails. I decided to get a drink with half regular cold brew and half nitro coconut cold brew, and this combination was great. It had the caffeine I was looking for, great tasting cold brew coffee with a hint of coconut that wasn't too sweet. Overall, a great product and great customer service means a win in my book! read more

It is a cute little coffee shop tuck on the sidestreet on end of Downtown. The menu of drinks are extensively and creative. Everything sounded delicious on the menu. This rating is for the friendly service and delicious hot pastrami sandwich. I'll update my review with more details upon future visits, which I intend to make. The hot pastrami sandwich was delicious, one of the tastiest I've ever had. Based on Yelp pictures, I thought it would come with a side of chips, but I didn't get any; maybe because I got it to go? I also tried the "Queen" latte with cold brew base. I didn't care for it, but I'm not letting that affect my rating, because they have so many other drinks I haven't tried yet, and I'll definitely go back to try something different. I love this place. As a barista myself, It's important for me to try to find a great cup of coffee close to home. This is definitely on my go to list. I've been coming here for over a year now and am finally getting around to writing the review :) Their nitro they serve is really yummy, my favorite go to drink besides an oat milk latte is the King. It has chocolate and nitro in one, soooo yummy! The sandwiches they have is amazing too, with a great portion, I usually get their turkey pesto. They close fairly early, even before the pandemic (I think that 2 pm is early) so If I catch myself awake before then and have a chance to get a coffee, im stoked LOL The espresso comes out great, the staff is nice and the shop is small so its a little more intimate (I like that). We decided to stop in on Black Friday for a coffee, and even though they weren't formally open for business because of the holiday, they were nice enough to let us in and made our drink orders. I opted for their lavender latte which I ordered iced. Normally I prefer a hot drink but it was insanely humid that day and I was sweating bullets. I really enjoyed the lavender flavor of my drink which somehow perfectly balanced out the bitterness of the cold brew. Validating everyone's 5 star reviews, because they deserve it. The coffee drinks I've had were all delicious. I especially like their kula cold brew, which basically tastes like a lavender latte to me. I'm always on the hunt for good Lavender flavored coffee drinks. I've heard all the coff tail drinks are delicious. Their space is clean and functional. They've really tried to maximize their pretty small space w lots of seating options. To top it all off, the owner (I think) and all the servers have always been so friendly and non-pretentious. With the coffee scene becoming so hip and elitist now, I'm appreciating workers and owners who are down to earth, humble, and still believe they're not "above" the customer, more and more because it's hard to find in this industry now. Alii Coffee is located downtown on Beretania Street bear HPU. It is an adorable honey cafe that reminded me of a cafe that I went to in Assisi, Italy. There is a chill vibe when you walk pat the threshold. It's as if you leave the bustle and traffic of town right outside the door - literally. The menu board is to the right of the entryway as you step in. They don't just serve cold brew; they have espresso, toasted sandwiches, flatbreads, salads, breakfast pastries. There is a bar and tables for seating. There is local art on the walls, and after you take that in, you'll notice the attentive staff ready & waiting for you! I did my homework. I already knew what I wanted. I stepped up & ordered the Almond Roca Coff Tail. It is cold brew, almond, chocolate caramel, and cream. The reason they call it a coff tail is in the presentation. Your drink cup rim has almonds on it. The ingredients for your drink is shaken as a cocktail would be then poured into your almond decorated cup. Bam! Coff Tail!
