Booked Alina's for my parent's 48th wedding anniversary - they were running late so I called to push the reservation. Called several times and it only went through to voicemail so I left a message_my parents arrived only 20 minutes after original Res and they refused to seat them, despite the fact my Mom is also using a walker as she is recovering from a stroke: They proceeded to seat multiple other parties despite the fact there were other tables available. This is terrible service that is frankly unacceptable, whether a special occasion or otherwise. First and last time even attempting to dine at Alina's - my parents ended up leaving and going to the Deerfield Inn where they had a lovely experience. read more

Found a gem. Traveling for business and couldn't be happier with this selection. I sat at the bar and Nicole was fantastic with tremendous drinks. We had a lovely meal at Alina's last night. The salmon was perfectly cooked (tender, not dry). The brown butter cake with caramel gelato was TO DIE FOR. Our waiter was Emmanuel, who used to co-own Chez Albert in Amherst! It was so nice to see him. He was gracious and friendly as always. read more

The food at Alina's was absolutely on point! the portions were huge and I found myself decently full after the appetizer alone. The calamari had not only squid in it but scallops and octopus as well. The risotto in the Tuna dish, although looks and sounds heavy was surprisingly light in taste due to the walnuts that cut the heaviness of the dish. The Gorgonzola cream sauce for the steak was yummy and the addition of cranberries balanced the dish perfectly. Both desserts were delicious! All in all, an outstanding meal. Fine dining in a small town. I felt like I was royalty in way I was shown to my table. The waiter was dressed in a black suit with a white shirt and tie. He had a european accent as he explained the menu and answered questions about the wines. The presentation of the meal was beautiful. The flavour was exquisite. So we went for NYE, let me tell you it was absolutely amazing. I got the special which was pan sear scallops on a bed of linguini with a spicy vodka tomato sauce; it was fantastic 10/10 would recommend. The appetizers also where a home run. I don't like to be hyperbolic when it comes to restaurants because I like to make sure credit is given where it's due- however! Alina's far surpasses any expectations you could hope for. The food is so good it's euphoric. But what really takes it over the edge is the customer service. My boyfriend and I have seafood and nut allergies and the attention to detail the chef and server paid to everything we inquired about was above and beyond. For example, originally we wanted to try the butter cake bc it sounded amazing. But after Cameron checked with the chef, he came back to tell us that the chef wouldn't feel comfortable giving us cake due to possible cross contamination due to nuts. However, he did suggest other options and in the end the lemon mousse might be the best dessert I've ever had. If you have the opportunity, please support this restaurant and certainly ask for Cameron, he's fantastic! read more

Love this place. The food & drinks are consistently good, full of flavor and complex. On Tuesdays they have 'dare night', and for $85 you get an appetizer, salads, 2 main corses, a dessert, and a bottle of wine from a limited selection of their wines. Very good combo deal. We had tuna puttanesca and lamb. The appetizer was a mozzarella fried, delicious and a great combination of textures. Only complaint - they added fees for certain menu items. I don't mind the additional charges, but would like to know before placing the order, not when the bill arrives. It drove the bill from the advertised $85, to $99. I'd like to know that up front. I've had the special combo in the past, and the choices were the sane with no added fees for certain items. Otherwise, everything was great. read more

I have worked in the business for over 30 years and I can honestly say he is one of the best servers I have ever known. I have seen the sign from the road, voted this and that with the best reviews. When my boyfriend asked where I wanted to go to eat for a special dinner after a difficult weekend, this is where I chose. When I walked in, A beautiful piano was playing sweet jazz music. Not a keyboard, a grand piano. As I sat next to my love, our waiter came over, Dustin (Justin?), who is one of the most earnestly compassionate server I can recall in the hundreds of restaurants I have been in. Not compassionate as in nosy about you and your life, but interested in making sure that this is "the" dining experience you came for. The one that the sign outside was talking about. One of the other reviews stated that they were very accommodating with their menu. This was true in my case. I took the elements of three of the dishes to make my pasta plate. They now offer gluten-free ziti which I had with a creamy basil sauce with the sautéed Primavera vegetables tossed in. It was late at night, so I can bet that I had the remnants of that night's prepped vegetables, a bit sparse and with corn, not my favorite. In all, it was quite delicious. My boyfriend's dish was equally good, although the two glasses of house Merlot certainly left a black hole in my memory of what he ordered. He is a vegetarian and found no problems coming up with a selection off the menu without my "complications". We finished the night with the lemon mousse, complete with a chocolate drizzle on the plate. I believe the calories were in order to make up for the traditional bread-and-butter that was not delivered at the beginning of the meal. Definitely not a complaint. If you happen to go, ask the piano player to play Skylark and tip well. read more

My two nieces and I enjoyed a mouth-watering dinner here tonight ... our last dinner together before my middle one starts freshman year at UMass Amherst. While my reservation was for six people, there ended up being only three of us but the hostess made the change and welcomed us in. Great first impression and the meals affirmed we were in the right place. I had the salmon over sautéed spinach and the flavors were as good as the perfect preparation. One niece had the linguini with the biggest shrimp I've ever seen. She took half back to the dorm for the best leftovers ever! My other niece thoroughly enjoyed the chicken piccata with sautéed broccoli rabe. We shared a house salad ... simple, fresh and delightful. We had a terrible experience here. We went on a couple's night for a meal with a fixed price of $85. We were charged $10 extra for the entrees and $3 extra for the dessert, all of which was supposed to be included. Their excuse for the extra charges was pitiful. Was in town for a wedding and decided to come here for dinner the night before. It was super busy so we almost didn't go in. I'm so glad we stayed because it was delicious! We sat at the bar and the bartender Matt was great. Everyone there was so friendly and asked us about our meal. They had just changed their menu that day but nonetheless we're very knowledgeable. Even though I couldn't pronounce the names of the food, every description sounded great. We were able to see the chefs in the kitchen, what a show! From making the reservation till the point we walked out the door, the service was excellent. They even made us a dish to take home, a seafood alfredo that the chef whipped up last minute for the people at the table next to us. As for the food, my wife and I both had filet mignon. The reason we come to Alina's for steak is simple... the chef knows how to cook medium-well without turning the steak into a hockey puck!!! Tender and flavorful with the slightest pink center. Deserts were also excellent. They put a candle in my wife's cake as it was her birthday. Our server, Emmanuel, was the best. We will be asking for him from now on. Other reviews have mentioned smaller portions, and they're not wrong. However, if you want a fantastic dining experience and wonderful food, please check them out! Northampton was too busy with Smith commencement visitors so crossed the river to hadley. What a great surprise! No tables but two seats at the bar turned out more fun and social. Pasta cooked to perfection, as were the scallops. Bartenders were two friendly women - perfect cocktail! And we could watch the cooking from our barstool perch. All good! read more

The bread and olive tapenade was excellent! The bread was a really hard roll, so tough I couldn't cut it open with my knife. I just had to poke a hole in it and tear it apart. But with the softened butter and olive tapenade, it was delicious! We split a Caesar salad with anchovies on the side per recommendation of the server, Jocelyn. It too was delicious with the shaved Parmesan and the chopped anchovies. The entree was swordfish (slightly blackened) on a bed of risotto with spinach, squash and walnuts. We split the entree, and half was plenty for us. The combination is very good, with the spiciness of the fish contrasting with the smooth texture of the risotto and the coolness of the spinach and squash. This fish was the special, and I highly recommend it if you get the opportunity. Last, but not least, was dessert. I had the creme brûlée and Sharon had the tiramisu. The tiramisu was good, a little "marscapony" for Sharon's taste. The creme brûlée was possibly the best I've ever had! Overall, an excellent meal, outstanding staff (Jocelyn was outstanding, I can't praise her enough), and a great experience. This could become our favorite restaurant! read more

The first time I had the filet mignon BGB here, I thought it was the best steak I'd had in a while. The other time I went I ordered it again, and it was just as incredible as the first time. First time here for an early Valentine's dinner, and it was ah-mazing! The flirtini's were really good along with the Tito's and soda. We ordered the scallops mare e monti for an app, the house salads , and then seafood Alfredo and rack of lamb for dinner. Everything was cooked perfectly , especially the scallops , and tasted awesome . I don't eat Alfredo very often, it's more of a guilty pleasure , but this was everything I hoped it'd be.
