We were the last to arrive to a large group. Ordered the perch Friday fish fry including fries, cole slaw, bread, and lemon; sounded great. The fish and fries arrived almost instantaneously. And nothing more. No bread, no slaw, no lemon. Ate the fish anyway, which was OK sans lemon. Wanted to ask the waitress for our entire order, but.... you guessed it.... no service. She only appeared to clear our plates without asking if all was OK, or if we wanted dessert, or a refill of my soda. My custom in this situation, which has occurred 3 times before in my life, is to leave a 2-cent tip (1 cent could be a mistake; no tip might be Alzheimer's) but of course the tip was built into the bill for the whole table. I felt compelled to complain at the front desk, and got a fairly defensive response. I was told the dinner was "family style" with shared slaw and bread; I had noticed an empty dish further down the table, apparently for the slaw. This wasn't on the menu, and my ESP was out of tune, so I was unaware of where to look for the other meal components. I was offered a fairly cold offer of a refund, which I refused. If I'd been thinking fast enough, I would have demanded a take-out order of slaw and bread, at least completing the order I'd paid for, and a $2 refund of the mandatory tip. We had the steak and it probably was the worst I have ever had. I think they are known for their fish fry because they were very busy. Very long wait being a Friday. Our server was very nice and she was running her butt off! They did comp my meal, so they have great customer service. read more

If I could give this 0 stars I would. I'm shocked this place is still in business, that's how bad the experience was. We came here for thanksgiving. It was not our first choice. The place we planned to go to had closed. Now I know why there were still tables available! It's not just the food that's terrible and barely edible, it's the service and atmosphere. Where do I start. One would think you can't mess up Turkey, well it's in fact possible. Very outdated, wood paneled walls, like you're in the 1950's. First off, there weren't napkins on the table. Our waitress forgot to bring refills on drinks when we asked for them. The French onion soup tasted like Campbell's out of a can. I am actually thinking it might be! Not even any swiss cheese in it. The turkey soup was just as bad. The "turkey dinner special" was disgusting. No one ate much of their meals. The pasta primavera had zero flavor. Like noodles with a jar of plain Alfredo sauce thrown on it. I took one bite and that was it. Our daughter got chicken strips, which were shockingly good! I ended up eating what she didn't eat. The bread in the bread basket was okay. Just EXTREMELY disappointed in the whole experience. We will never step foot in here again! read more

Don't waste your money. The to go fish fries are getting smaller and smaller. You get only 4 very little pieces of fish when you get a meal to go. If you eat in there, it is all you can eat most of the time. You can get one or two waitress(es) who will say it isn't all you can eat, you can only have 5 pieces of fish. I recently went for dinner and was very disappointed. We arrived a little after eight. The hostess was very pleasant and seated us promptly. After waiting 15-20 minutes without seeing a waitress, we finally asked another server if she could get our waitress. Our waitress was busy, so this one was kind enough to get us drinks and bring us bread. When our waitress finally showed up, she was rude the entire time. She never introduced herself, acted flustered, and rushed us out. I felt like she was practically pushing us out the door with her attitude. We ordered fish served "family style" and she never asked if we wanted more fish. When we were only halfway done she asked if we would be having dessert, I hadn't even thought about dessert yet. She also brought us the bill and told us to pay up front if she wasn't around. Fantastic!!! We LOVE the bar!! Janet and Katherine are great! They are worth the visit alone! We always get something Italian, but everything looks fabulous!!! I do not understand where the management is over the help. Servers should not EVER talk about their personal issues, yell back to other servers in the dining room or be allowed to eat in an area where customers are dining. They are probably rude because they don't care. Either they are not making any money or there are no consiquenes to their behavior from MANAGEMENT. My guess would probably be BOTH. The best fish fry around. I have tried every fish fry around my house, including Serb hall and Tanner Paul. They don't hold a candle to Aliotos and I will drive 25 mins to pick up Aliotos. Great cod light fluffy, and the fries still had some crunch when I got home. Do yourself a favor when your looking for a traditional WI fish fry try Aliotos you won't be disappointed. read more

Today was our first day here. It was a random pick before work and it was delicious. If you're ever in the mood for basic spaghetti and meatballs, pick this place. You get a big dish for a small price and the meatballs are DELICIOUS!!! I don't know who their chef is, but he did them right. I, myself, had their daily special of stuffed pork chops, which were actually pretty good and you can taste the sinful butter in their mashed potatoes. Their French onion soup was flavorful with a bread and cheese crust floating on the surface. Their "house salad" was a little sad looking, but we ordered it with their caesar dressing, and that was in a class of it's own. Kind of citrusy. In the end, everything they do is house made, and well worth a trip. We came in for a quick lunch, with came out to about $30, but their food was so good, we're willing to come back and pay more and try their dinner menu. read more

NEGATIVE No more chances. The first time we ever ate at Alioto's it was very good (Friday for a fish fry). The second time, third time, fourth time was a very good fish fry. But, sometimes they were very busy and the fish was not so great. We assumed they were having growing pains and gave them time to work it out. Then, last Friday night (Feb 5th 2016) we decided to get a fish fry, (take out for $27.00).They were not busy and it was around 5:00pm I ordered one regular fish fry with french fries and one baked cod with red potatoes. Surprisingly my order was ready in less then five minutes (Wow) I said that was the fastest service I ever had. Unfortunately It was the worst fish fry we have ever had. They had the order wrong, no red potatoes the fish was cold both baked and fried, cold baked potato (the order was wrong so no red potatoes, no utensils or napkins, and hard bread like it had been sitting out. It was not even edible. We where baby sitting our grandchildren who live less then ten minutes away so, I decided to take them back and ask for new ones. Maybe because other customers were around but they seemed very concerned at the front desk. Jim and the waitress checked out the fish, and touched it with their hands and poked it with there fingers. Jim told the waitress to replace the fish fry and to toss the first fish fry, and give us new ones. It was about a ten minute wait for the new ones. The waitress gave me what was supposed to be the new fish fry and told me that take outs are always cold, I replied: No not really we had take outs before and never had this problem. She gave me the replacement order, I took the new ones and left. Ok here is Alioto's replacement looked like when I got back with the replacement order. They gave it to me without replacing the fish, after they touched, and poked the fish. There were red potatoes in this order but again no napkins or utensils. We could not believe it what a JOKE! As you can tell, we REALLY wanted to keep this place as one of our better fish fry in the Milwaukee area. I am / we are so disappointed. But; No More Chances! read more

The only reason that we ended up at Alioto's was that Eddie Martini's is closed on Sundays and it was Mother's Day. It smelled like smoke was coming from the bar, which confused me, since smoking has not been allowed indoors for years now thanks to the law. The food was of poor quality for the expensive cost. Way too much food, except for the paltry salad, and then they include dessert, clearly contributing to the obesity epidemic of the country. A lot of the others there were senior citizens. read more

Had my Mother's birthday party here. There were almost 30 guests for lunch. Service was great and the food was fantastic!! Everything came out hot and timely. Everyone was raving about how great the food was. The guests had the option of selecting Sicilian Steak, Chicken Parmesan, Breaded Shrimp or Fish. I had the steak and it was cooked perfectly and came with a side of pasta. Delicious. They even cut our cake and served it. Service and food were both top notch! read more

We have a luncheon meeting here every other month and our Christmas party too. the food is always great! The prices are very reasonable and the service is very good. Great food, great service, clean and overall excellent restaurant. I have eaten many fish fry in my day and this is my favorite by far. Thin breaded cod, freshly made tarter sauce (not out of the bottle that you find at most places), same for the cole slaw (fresh and crunchy), fresh Italian bread, great beers on tap, free popcorn in the bar while you wait for your table. A classic milwaukee restaurant. I highly recommend the fish fry. And its a great place a nice night out if you are looking for an enjoyable dining experience. read more

All the old folks jokes aside, this place does get a lot of things right. Yes the decor screams 1982 supper club and the music is early 70's soft rock, but ignore all that and just appreciate the good food, decent wine selection and very good service. I have had numerous apps, the queen filet special, pizza and several pasta dishes. Their home made Italian sausage is truly great. The home made marinara is good, but not as zesty as I'd prefer. The pizza has an abundance of delicious fresh toppings with a decently crispy crust. The steak is a terrific value on Thursdays....tender, juicy and cooked perfectly (Bartolottas chefs need to come here and learn how to cook red meat). All the apps were great. Bottles of wine are not as pricey as some places (mark up doesn't seem to be double retail) and they offer a $10 gift certificate for your next visit when you buy one. Nice! Previously, our service at Alioto's had been great. We went to Alioto's for Christmas lunch (which became dinner due to a 2 and a half hour sitting). The hostess was very receptive and nice and seated us. After that, things went downhill. Our server, who we first met about 35 minutes after being seated, asked what we wanted to order for drinks and food. Once our orders were placed, we waited for about another 30 minutes for our soup and drinks to arrive. About 45 minutes after that, our meals arrived. One meal that nobody in our party ordered was given to me, and a correction was made. My sirloin steak, which I originally ordered, finally came cooked well-done (and I ordered it medium). I asked for ketchup for my fries along with a refill on my mountain dew, and the ketchup came after about 15 minutes, and the refill on my soda never came. When everybody was finally done, we asked the very sweet, old man who was filling our waters if he could get us the deserts that were part of our meal. He was humorous and very receptive. It only took him a minute or two to get us our deserts. Overall the food was a 3.5/5, the service was a 1/5. I would be skeptical to come back. read more
