They previously handled my grandmother's arrangements many years ago, and at that time my parents made pre-need plans. Sadly, when my father passed on February 28, 2026, those plans came into place. From the very first moment, Miller Funeral Home guided us through everything with extraordinary care and steadiness. I want to especially recognize Alex and Vlad, who came to our home the night my father passed. They arrived promptly after the hospice nurse contacted them, and from the moment they entered, their presence brought a sense of calm to an otherwise overwhelming time. They treated my father with profound dignity and respect. Every movement was gentle and deliberate, carried out with a sense of grace that is difficult to put into words, but left a lasting impression on our entire family. They gave us the space and time we needed for our final moments with him, and because of that, those memories feel peaceful rather than traumatic. That is an extraordinary gift. I also want to mention Nick, who was incredibly kind and supportive when we later came to pick up my father's death certificate. Every interaction with the staff reflected the same level of compassion and professionalism. The environment at Miller Funeral Home is calm, nurturing, and thoughtfully maintained. It is also a beautiful setting for services, as we experienced when honoring my grandmother. I recommend Miller Funeral Home without hesitation. They handle every detail with care, dignity, and humanity when it matters most.

It's a bit of an exercise in trust having them pick up your loved one's remains and then, without even a final viewing, cremate and return the ashes in an urn. Sutter updated me throughout the entire process - when the remains arrived at the mortuary, when the cremation process began, when the death certificate was issued and when we could come by for the pickup. I have also chosen to be directly cremated when it is my time and I would not think twice about having Sutter Cremation perform this final act of service for me.

Very odd experience with this business. I'll begin my review by saying I first called Green Valley…read moreMortuary, and after being quoted nearly $3000 for a basic cremation, I decided to call other businesses. Before I hung up, the woman at green valley mortuary cautioned me that other places will "ship my loved one all over the place to do the cremation" and stated that they would treat her remains so much better because they do their own cremation..... this info ties into the rest of my review so keep it in mind as your read. Fast forward to the next day, spoke to "sutter cremation" and was quoted a more reasonable price for the service we were looking for. We gave all of the needed info over the phone and went in the next morning to sign paperwork and pay in full. We paid for specific services, including expediting the cremation and courier service to go physically get the death certificates we paid for. Throughout the whole situation "sutter cremation" never ONCE reached out to us to update us about what was happening. After several days without hearing from them we called and asked what was going on. We were absolutely horrified to learn that they hadn't picked up our loved one from the hospital and they blamed it on the coroner. We had been in constant contact with the coroner AND the hospital and were well aware that the coroner was not holding up any release of our loved ones remains and that her body had been cleared for pickup hours after she passed away. Several more days passed and we called again to find out what was going on and were told they "thought" they had picked up our loved one but would call back after checking. They never called back and after a few more days I called again because the week to week and a half turn around time we paid extra for had long passed. When I called I was informed that the cremation had taken place and we could pick up the remains- if we hadn't called, we probably would have never known. We had made them aware that we lived hours away and needed to plan to be there but they simply didn't care. I spoke to a "manager" and let them know how disappointed we were in the whole experience. The last thing you want to do after losing an immediate family member is deal with failure to communicate and lack of professionalism. I told them we expected to be refunded the amount that we paid extra to expedite the cremation and they said they would ask the owners and call me back. Now HERE is where things get interesting. When they called back, they left a message saying that yes they would refund us..... however, the woman identified herself as working for GREEN VALLEY MORTUARY. So seems like green valley mortuary owns sutter cremation and they try to get the inflated cost from people who simply call the mortuary but offer the cheaper service through sutter cremation to those who think $3000 is a bit much for a simple cremation. Since green valley mortuary told me they do all their own cremations I would assume they do all of sutter cremations as well. Just seems very shady to me and like they prey on people and try to get more money out of them. In the end they did refund the cost we paid to expedite the cremation. When we picked up the remains we all just wanted to get out of there but we noticed when we got home that the urn had tons of scratches and rust spots. We didn't want to deal with this shady company anymore so we just let it go. My family member died well over a month ago and we haven't ever received the death certificates (which we paid extra for and also paid extra for the courier to physically pick them up) nor have we received any further communication from sutter cremation whatsoever. I could NEVER recommend this company and we are very unhappy with the entire experience.

(In Dec. 2022). We went in not knowing what we needed, and he helped give us ideas that would work for our situation and budget. I really appreciated that he took the time to explain things that we'd never navigated before. We did not feel rushed or pushed to do anything, yet David gave us plenty of information to help us make the decisions we needed to. We ended up using one of the most low-cost, simple packages in the end, only because that is what would work best for our unique situation. (It was extremely affordable.) We are very thankful that David and his assistant were more than willing to offer their advice and help, without pressuring us to buy something we didn't want or need. I definitely recommend them.

By the evening of January 8th, I spoke with someone and was told to call back Monday as they are closed over the weekend. I called back first thing Monday morning and thought it was quite an easy process. I spoke with a friendly male, he got all of my information and told me that once my brother signed the forms he would call me for payment. That call never came. I was also told that I didn't need to call the hospital, they would make the arrangements. To their (kinda) defense, there was a Covid issue in the Roseville office and the employees were working from home. I'm not exactly sure how that changed anything, especially because I'm trying to coordinate this from my home in Texas. On Tuesday, I called three times and did not receive a call back. My brother had not yet received any paperwork. On Thursday I received a call back and was given different information by a different employee. They sent paperwork via email to both my brother and myself. I was told that once it was signed, they would call back for payment. She said that the process would take no longer than 10 days starting from the day I first spoke to someone. (Again, it's been almost 30 days) We both signed it right away. I did not receive a call back. On Friday, i called and left a message after I received a call from the hospital letting me know that they didn't receive a call from the funeral home. I did receive a call back and I paid. I was told everything was done and they'd call with any questions otherwise they would call when we could pick up my moms ashes. I stopped taking notes of all of the times I've spoken with this company. It's been a very stressful and frustrating situation. I cannot tell you how many times that I've had to repeat the same information. Thankfully, each and every person (other than the answering service) has been very kind. So kindness is not the issue. It's the lack of communication. It's so very hard to get in touch with anyone or to get a call back. If I still lived in Roseville, I'd just pop in, but I live thousands of miles away. All I want is to be able to tell my brother to pick up our moms ashes. Luckily, we are doing her celebration of life closer to the summer. I can't imagine the stress that I would've been under if I were to have a service within two weeks of her passing. Also, I understand that these are crazy times and things will take longer than normal. But should it take a month?

A day or two before the service they they opened an online obituary portal at their home page that allowed folks to leave well-wishes online. The comments are vetted before being published (authorization completed by the family of the deceased). The day of service was extremely hard, but the funeral home was absolutely professional and there was not oddities to report. The location of the funeral home was reasonable to get to--parking limited, but manageable. It was a hot day, but they had the air conditioning set to a chill level (making sense for open caskets). I don't mean to sound clinical about this review, especially when so much emotion can go into why you are there, but in the end. The funeral home was clean, provided for everybody that came to pay their respects. Prior to the service they cycled photos and/ or video reflecting memories of my friend and his family that survived him. I can't address pricing, but I heard the average cost of a funeral can easily run around 15K, and the lavatory I don't know because I didn't use it. The initial room where you first walk in is furnished nicely and to be honest it was a good area to take little ones that aren't able to sit long during the service. The area allows you to still hear what's going, limits the noise the main hall hears, and keeps you out of immediate line of sight. Anyway, if you have to use services like this, North Sacramento Funeral Home is professional and does it correct.
