I was really impressed by this place. I had a nail in my tire and was able to get it over here but needed to stay downtown as this is where I live and work. I was worried about getting quality and honest service. However, the front desk representative priced out very economical tire options for me given that I'm looking to sell my car in the next year. I did not feel any pressure to be up sold and the price that they quoted was exactly what I paid and they had my car done the very next day with four brand new tire tires. I waited a while to post this in order to deal with these people and see if they would make things right but after my fourth visit dealing with issues on very standard work I feel other people should really know that these guys do poor work, charge an arm and a leg, and really take any chance to skirt responsibility and to avoid making restitution. I'm still dealing with these guys and hope they will make things right but at this point I highly doubt it, I will be glad to update if things turn out better though. Other shops will do far more consistent and affordable work in my experience as demonstrated in the receipt and other shop quote shown below. Be sure to mind the $80+ diagnostic fee and $50 processing fee. At this point in my mind: AVOID AT ALL COSTS. First visit: came to them as an emergency because they were on AAA and my alternator went out. I was having power steering issues and asked them to diagnose and fix while it was in as well. - Immediately after picking up, my car starts overheating and I nearly had to get a tow because they LEFT THE WIRING HARNESSES UNPLUGGED after changing the alternator which left my fans and some other electronics non-functional where I needed to get 3-4 jumps between getting back home and back to the shop the next day. Second visit: I brought the car in to get the harnesses put back together Third visit: after having the power steering hose / pressure switch changed my power steering was making a huge amount of noise and after a few days the power steering fluid was still leaking. I brought it in to see what we could do. They shirked any real responsibility (for that as well as the wiring harness SNAFU) and said it was probably a manufacturer issue. I expressed how upset I was to have two major issues after paying top dollar for these repairs and the owner basically said I should be thanking them for the time it took to fix their own mistakes as well as a new hose and of course the free power steering fluid (~$5 or less last time I checked...). I told them that this is ridiculous and I would like some sort of restitution. The owner hemmed and hawed forever and then told me to bring a quote from another shop and we could talk. Fourth visit: Power steering is still extremely loud and leaking. I brought in a quote for $500 less and surprise - the owner "is extremely busy" and doesn't have time to talk and will call me "sometime this week". The tech at the desk also said there is no chance they will give any concessions for all the trouble this has caused and they would need at least 2-3 quotes (I don't know what for I guess, but very convenient that after I bring a quote in, now suddenly they need two more). We will see if the owner takes time out of his busy schedule to call the shop I got a quote from or call me back. It seems he has plenty of time to respond to all his other one star reviews though. read more

$111.17 was what a friend of mine was quoted to get a single headlight changed. i see both good and bad reviews of this business and having gone there myself to get quoted 600+ dollars to change my front wheels' break pads replaced i can definitely tell you that they are prejudiced and will try to scam/overcharge you if they believe you don't know anything about fixing your specific issue on your vehicle. i don't doubt people have came in here and left with great service, but you have to be a specific kind of person if you understand what i am saying. read more

I have always had good service here, since I got my first flat tire in Indy back in September 2014. It's a family-owned business and they have always been straightforward and honest with me. I'm a woman, so sometimes folks speak of how car folks (shops or dealers) will treat us like idiots or try to swindle us, but this has never happened to me here. I also don't know a lot about cars, so they have always been happy to explain things to me so I understand what I need to fix. They've never tried to oversell me on things. For example, my car had a weird noise and someone I know made me worried about it. I asked the mechanic's opinion at All-Star and he gave it to me straight - fixing that would be $200-$300 and I absolutely don't need to fix it for the car to run. That was great! I've been here consistently - mostly wheels or tires because of Indy's terrible streets. But also for some oil changes and other mechanical needs. Another awesome part? They will shuttle you to a downtown location for free while they work on your car, and then pick you up at the end of the day! This is great for folks that work downtown! read more

We hit a pot hole in Indianapolis that blew out our tire on a trip back to the Midwest from New York. We had the tow truck take us here and we were very impressed with their knowledge and quality of service. They got us an inexpensive replacement tire that will get us through our trip and did not try to upsell us. Also the work was done astonishingly quickly, like 45 minutes. If you're a girl, or anyone naive looking DONT GO HERE. Tested my luck, brought it my car for an oil change, guys at the front were super cool and helpful untill I got charged $450 for an OIL CHANGE. Granted, it was my fault for falling for it but I was tired and confused and they were so nice I didn't want to cause a scene. They replaced a ton of stuff I never asked them to do, charged me insane amounts for every little thing, and I: a broke college student: got robbed into paying almost $500 for an oil change and new battery (which I never asked for). I have learned my lesson but I hope you guys don't have to loose half a grand to learn yours. read more

This is the best tire shop/repair shop downtown. I just signed up for their lifetime oil change package. It will pay for itself after probably 9 oil changes. They also provide free storage for your winter/summer tires. They will only charge you for mounting each time you swap your tires. They have free shuttle service which will take you anywhere downtown after you drop your vehicle off. read more

I searched 'free tire air' and chose the closet location, HUGE MISTAKE. I left my truck to get air in a tire and a new battery. That ended up costing me $724. ALWAYS read the reviews. I'm not the only one who got this treatment. I was on my last day of a business trip and had limited time to get back on the road. A major or winter storm was in the way and I skipped the reviews. They were very nice when I dropped it off. I trusted them. I went back on Monday when I was back in town for more business and I stopped to talk to them in person. I am from out of town and got a flat tire. I picked this place based on reviews and was so pleased with their service! I was able to drop off same day if needed, they were able to patch up the hole instead of replacing the tire, and they completed the work very quick. Price was very reasonable. And they followed up a couple days later giving me a personal contact person and number for any future needs. It was a quick simple visit, but I could tell I was in very good, honest hands. Synopsis: All Star Tire & Auto gave me a $1,000 repair estimate (after charging me $60 just to look at my car) and took an extra 2 hours on top of what they quoted me just to get an estimate, despite having an appointment. I was told I needed all 4 brake assemblies, plus both front calipers. In reality, I only needed 2 front brake pads and 2 front rotors and it cost 1/3 of that at the second place I took it. My brakes were starting to get squeaky and I took my car in for an estimate at All Star Tire & Auto. I called and made an appointment and, when I arrived on the day of my appointment, I was told it would take around 2 hours for them to take a look and get back to me with an estimate. I was also told that, just to have them LOOK at my car, it would cost $60. 2 hours after I dropped off my car, I heard nothing. I gave the company a call and they said they'd check on my car really quick and get back to me. An hour later (and no returned phone call), I called back. I was told that my car STILL hadn't been taken into the shop, despite having made an appointment and been told it would take 2 hours. I gave them an hour, told them I needed my car ASAP, and that I'd review the estimate to see if I wanted to move forward with the repairs. The estimate was around $1,000. I took my car to Big O in Plainfield to have them take a look (the estimate was free) and I was told that half the things I was told I "needed" at All Star Tire & Auto, were perfectly fine. I got the repairs I needed for $300 at Big O, parts and labor included. read more

Had my wife take my car in for an oil change while I was at work. They tried telling her that the front struts needed to be replaced and quoted her over $1000 for the job. After I requested for them to take a picture of the "damaged struts" they provided a picture of a piece of broken plastic near the strut that didn't effect the struts. Looked at the struts myself and they were in great condition. They tried tacking on spark plugs and air filters (which I had just changed) which brought the quote to nearly $2000. Inflated prices and straight up lying, take your car somewhere else. Obviously they saw my wife as an easy target. Be weary to trust anything they have to say. read more

I've had two tire replacements here and both times I received honest and speedy service. The second time I had the tire replaced (damn Indiana potholes!) I noticed the next morning the new tire was low on air and at first I thought they didn't fill up the tire all the way. The day after that it had even less air and it was clear it was leaking. I brought my car back in and they gave me another new tire free of charge no questions asked and I haven't had any problems since. Not very pleased with their times estimates. I dropped my car off at 10:30 on Friday. They didn't inspect any of the brakes until about 4:30 pm, even though I called to check in every two hours. I was told my car would be done by Monday, midday. I called today, monday, at midday, and was told my car probably won't be done till tomorrow. I have a lifeC and a job, and classes. I need my car, and I need to know when it will be done. Misrepresenting how long the work will take does not make you all seem faster, it makes you seem unqualified and disrespectful. If you had to order parts, I should have been notified. In addition, they completely overcharged me for parts ($2000 for new brakes) because they knew I had no other option. This place is a money grab and they are terrible at time management and communication. I'm very unhappy with the cost, and duration of the work I'm having done. By Tuesday, this place will have had my car for five days, just to replace the brakes. Has utterly ridiculous. If you're smart, go anywhere else. I won't be coming back. read more

Yes these people are all very nice and continued to be very nice even as they charged me $148 for a new battery (with only a yr warranty) $75 worth of "labor" for installing the new battery and a computer diagnostic saying it wasn't the alternator. Plus $12 for "supplies" And this wasn't even done in one day. The battery is easily accessible in my car and I could have changed it via a YouTube video if I had a garage and some muscles. I partly blame myself for not shopping around first... Because after I did, I discovered I was screwed over even more than I thought. All 5 other places I called downtown (Goodyear, Firestone, jiffy lube, etc) quoted this exact stuff up for me and the highest price was $160. Quote before you go to them, I'm sure they do great work, but this little task was not worth the cost. read more

Ive been taking my car here for 4 years. Unfortunately for anything other than an oil change they are not worth the trouble. Their price estimates are usually quite higher than a few minutes of reasonable research would allow. Even if i come in for an oil change i usually get handed an estimate for all kinds of work from coolant flushes to tire rotations which if you keep track of you wont need to do these things nearly as often as they suggest. And they have various pressure techniques to influence your on the spot decision. Most recently i was given an estimate for 5 part replacements where 4/5 arent high priorities but the bill on those was over a grand and not needed. As i refused to go ahead with the work so i could research prices on my own first, they charged me $60 just for looking at it and then made the comment they would enter the number into submission for carfax records - almost as a threat that if i didnt get the work done in the moment my cars resale value would hurt. I received excellent service here and I would send anybody here for service. I was greeted immediately when I walked in the door about late afternoon after getting off work. All I needed was an oil change. Less than an hour later I was in my way out. They took care of everything, even checked all my car fluids and rotated my tires for free. They were so nice and I felt like they cared about me and my car. The owner or manager, can't remember even helped exchange my old wiper blades out with new ones I had purchased months ago but couldn't figure out how to do it myself. Go there! read more

Respectfully told them the situation & requested to remove them all - had never even touched the ground. Refused immediately & 2 hadn't even been screwed in so would've taken no time to pull them off. (Unrelated lug nut issue) "Several mechanics look & come to a consensus." Very suspicious all of them were incorrect. Proves they lied in order to cheat me out of money even if they'll never admit it. Associate talked to the manager & agreed to only take 2 off, Got him to talk to the manager again & he finally agreed. Very unprofessional that the manager negotiated through someone else twice & didn't even offer to talk to me. Clearly doesn't care about decent customer service. I'm sure he doesn't want to admit wrong in order to just try to make money off you. I was polite the whole time even when I had to be a bit stern. Rather than buy new tires he suggested a good used tire as a spare. Then I could get a matched tire in Chicago, rather than put unmatched on, since they didn't have my brand. 20 min and $20 for the spare I was on my way. read more

I've been going to All Star for over 4 years. I love that they are a family owned business. Their prices are very reasonable and have never made me feel like I am being upsold into something I don't actually need. My favorite part of All-Star is their flexibility with shuttling their customers to their job while their car is being worked on (given it is in the downtown area). I paid $100 for the diagnostic and after I declined the service on Thursday they towed my car from their lot on Saturday morning! Even after I told them I would be there to pick it up on Saturday after 5pm! I couldn't believe it. I picked my car up out of impound and took it to a friend who helped me work on the car and the parts for this were were under $100 dollars.. read more

Do not go here. Twice they have told me something was wrong with my car when it was not. The first time I was told I had broken struts and needed to replace them but that it wasn't urgent. Later I went to my hometown where the shop owner knows me well, and said the struts had appropriate wear for the miles on my car and were in fact not broken. I gave them a second chance and went back for a flat tire and was told there was a tear in the shoulder and I needed two new tires. I shopped around for a lower price on the tires, went somewhere else, and was shown my tire which did not have a tear in the shoulder, but rather a hole from a nail in the middle of the tire that they had tried to plug and failed. read more

My 10 year old Focus broke down in downtown Indy. I asked AA Hoosier Auto Service who they would recommend in the downtown area and they recommended All Star Tire. All Star replaced the battery, a coil, and something called a "deca grip" at a cost of $507.99. Three days later, the car broke down again. I had it towed back to All Star hoping that it was something that they could fix cheap. This time they replaced the alternator at a cost of $508.68. When I got it back, it rode very "rough" as if it was missing out which it never did before. At this point I decided I would just write it off and there was over $1,000 down the drain. At least the car was running, right? Then a few days later All Star calls to see how my car was running. When I told them what it was doing they insisted I bring it in. I did so. This time I took my 6 foot plus son in with me. Did I mention that I'm a single lady in my 50's who knows absolutely nothing about cars- perfect victim for unscrupulous mechanics. This time they replaced the points and plugs at no cost to me. The car was actually running better than it had in a while .... for less than a week when it broke down again in traffic displaying the same symptoms as it did when it broke down the first two times. I've had it hauled back to All Star. I have absolutely no expectations that they will get the car running .... maybe I got a bad battery or alternator. Maybe they just don't know what they're doing. I'll let you know. By the way, the guys that work at All Star are super friendly and wanted me to know that they wanted me to go away satisfied. Not happening guys. Update: The car broke down again. I had to have it hauled in. Apparently the alternator that All Star put in was bad. They replaced it - no cost to me as the alternator has a "life time guarantee." This is good ... but didn't feel so good when the car broke down on Keystone and 33rd St. Never fun when you're broken down. Ok. 5th time might be the charm. On Friday, Dec 23, I was driving in the downtown area when the alternator light started flashing .. took it to All Star and they reported that a "clip" was not fastened tightly and they did fix it. They even apologized for it. Wow. First time in 5 visits. Okay. Again I have to say that these guys are the nicest people ever. But really. 5 times to get is going ... so far. read more
