I recently hired AdvantaClean of the West Side to perform mold remediation. The workers were…read morefriendly and diligent. They did well with the basement. There some very tough areas and they took their time to get it cleaned up. It was when they began the dining room that left me dazed. Part of the remediation was to remove plaster from walls where mold may have been growing behind the plaster. Almost all exterior walls were identified on the first and second floors. Given the condition of the house, I agreed. I thought I was hearing just plaster breaking up, but when I inspected the work they had done, I told them to stop. Beneath the plaster was tile block, which they had broken up and exposed the exterior brick walls of the house. If I had allowed them to continue, I couldn't have afforded to have the house put back together and would have lost the plaster crown molding. They made it clear they weren't familiar with this kind of wall construction. After I insisted, it was agreed no more walls would be broken up without my approval. It was left at "It's your house..." In my opinion, the mold was superficial in most of the first and second floors and was removed by scraping off the paint and sanitizing. I was okay with baseboards being removed and sanitized. It's the fact they felt compelled to continue with wall demolition on unfamiliar construction, starting in an area that had the least chance of having mold behind the walls. The company would do well to stick with newer homes where they are familiar with the construction methods and instruct their workers if they get into something unfamiliar, to stop and have it evaluated before continuing. Very costly lesson on my part. Just a quick update and some pictures. I had a general contractor look at the damage and he simply couldn't believe it. He said this is the supporting structure of the wall and it will be very costly to repair. You may want to look for another company if you have an older home.

Drew and his team did a fantastic job getting rid of the extensive mold problem in my new home and…read moremaking it a healthy environment to live in. It was a big job lasting nearly two weeks, and included major demolition in my basement, removing all the old carpets throughout the house, and cleaning all the duct work. Plus all the other scrubbing, sterilizing etc. I am so pleased with the result and highly recommend them to anyone with a concern about mold in their home.

I scheduled to have dryer vent cleaning in my home recently and was told I would be given a window…read morethe day before service. I was given 12-3. At 1pm I called for an update and was told they were at the job before me and would call 30 minutes before arriving. At 3:10 I had no heard anything so I called for an update and was told when I called before they were actually on the job two before mine and were now on their way to the job before mine. They said they wouldn't be to my house until 5 or 6pm. I had dinner plans and could not wait so rescheduled for another day where I was told I would be the first appointment of the day and was given an 8-11 window. I called at 8:15 on that day as I had not heard anything and was told that yes I would still be first for the day but they were having some problems and just getting in but would call when they were on the way. Somebody called me at 10:30 and said they were working at a job they didn't finish and would come to me afterwards. At 11:45 I called and was told they were still working on the other job (even though I was repeatedly told I was the first customer that day). They asked if I still wanted someone to come out. At this point they had no times to give me and I wouldn't have believed them anyway. So now I had spent two days wasted waiting for them to arrive and had no services completed. I asked if they would be willing to provide their service at no cost for more inconvenience. They said they could only offer a 10% discount. I declined and moved on with my day. I told them I would never use Sears for cleaning services again. Clearly whoever is scheduling appointments is over booking or the service people are not competent enough to get the job done in a timely manner.
