They damage so much stuff, it was absolutely shocking! We have moved four times in the last 5 years and have never experienced anything like this. The claims person is rude and argumentative and refuses to provide us with the repair estimate given to her by a furniture restoration company who inspected our stuff. I hired this company to move me from Colorado to California. I was very specific that i needed their best, most qualified crew to handle my move because i had a lot of very expensive breakable things. I had a crew of 5 guys tackling different areas of my huge house. I was not able to over see all of them the whole time. I did my best to micromanage without being annoying. I finally received my belongings yesterday after a week's wait. I started opening my boxes right away, to find that the packers literally threw my stuff in the boxes, with no paper at all and what they wrote on the boxes was not at all what was in them. I wish I had read the reviews before I chose this company, and the agency Blue Chip Moving & Storage Inc was even worse . It was a miserable experience for us! Our belongings were loaded in LA on 7/14, arrived in Vancouver on 8/18. Several solid wood furniture were damaged, and it took a lot of effort to remove the tape marks left on the furniture. Three pieces of furniture are still missing and haven't been found yet. I tried to contact the manager Daniella Ortiz twice left messages, she never returned my calls. I have moved multiple times in my career. This is hands down the worst move and borderline fraud I have ever experienced. Usually I have moved with a job and my employer has paid. This time I was retiring and moving back to our retirement home. We chose what we thought was a national agency. The truck that picked us up was quite old. What absolute clowns. If I could charge them for wasting my time I would. They moved my car across country and 6 months later sent me an email saying I still hadn't paid. Umm per THEIR contract I don't get my car until I hand over the check, and since so much time had passed I didn't keep the other side of the cashier check. They insisted I go to the bank to prove it was cashed. I went on 6 separate occasions and every time the bank told me that would call me with an update. Apparently it's a process to confirm an old cashiers check had been cashed with no check number. When they finally called and said it was indeed cashed to Allie Van Lines I relayed the message. One month later I got a letter from a lawyer saying Allies Van Lines (or Coleman...same thing) were sending me to collections for failure to pay. I went back to the bank and insisted I get a copy of the cashed cashiers check. Eventually I did and sent it to the lawyer and the idiots who harassed me about it for a year. I posted this review also with the locally contracted mover in my area. However, this mover is a representative of Allied and I am deeply disappointed in the service received. We moved our daughter from LA to San Diego in the same day. I contracted Allied Moving and was referred to Blue Chip Moving as they were the local providers. Bruce, the sales rep, was very helpful and reasonable. To minimize the time (and cost) the movers needed to pack, Bruce documented that we had all her boxes and furniture in one spot. A list of all items with dimensions, including furniture, was provided. The sales rep acknowledged that the furniture, TV, and canvas painting needed to be wrapped and protected. The contract even stated that the TV needed to be in a box. The moving coordinator Carol contacted me and assured me that all movers were employees of Allied or Blue Chip, and not 3rd parties or subs. However, when I asked the movers if they work for Blue Chip or Allied, I was told that they were from another company and they do work for Blue Chip. When the movers arrived, the experience was unpleasant from the beginning. 1. The movers admitted that they did not bring any boxes or packing materials because they "had lots of big moves earlier" and only brought used paper and blankets. I was also told that they emptied the truck because they didn't know how much stuff we had, but I had provided a detailed itemized list with dimensions and the estimate used my list. 2. They did not want to wrap the couch or bed in plastic and I had to insist on wrapping to keep the items clean. They just wanted to cover it with used pieces of brown paper. 3. They did not secure most of the furniture ; my husband was there when the truck was opened and saw that much of the furniture fell or shifted on arrival to San Diego. 4. Specifically, a favorite wooden dresser in great condition arrived in San Diego with significant damage to three of the handles. When packing, the movers took the drawers out and moved the empty dresser but refused to put the drawers back into the dresser because it "would save time on arrival". I was assured that they would be secured. On arrival to San Diego, my husband saw that the dresser frame had fallen over onto other items and the drawers had slid on the truck floor. After the movers left, we noticed that one handle was split and two handles were missing wood. The movers never admitted the damage and never gave us the pieces that had broken off for repair. 5. The movers were always rushing, banging the items in the walls. We did not feel that they cared about being careful, only trying to get back on the road as quickly as possible, because they wanted to drive back to LA. In regards to timing, I paid for 11 hours but they showed up at 8am and left at 1:30pm, with traffic taking only 2 hours to get back. They were paid way more than the hours they spent and I am upset that they rushed so much when we did everything to make the move easy so they could take more time to be careful with our items. What is most disappointing is that the move coordinator emailed me afterwards asking: "Hi Leticia, I wanted to check in with you to see how everything went with delivery. Did you have any questions? " I described the issues and she never responded back. Why bother sending the email? I realistically expect that things can get damaged in a move, but much of this was preventable. The lack of packaging materials and no effort to pack the bigger items is inexcusable, since Allied claims to be a "Full Service" mover. I saw none of the "full service". They didn't even need to enter my house to get items or dismantle/rebuild any furniture. We did all of that ourselves. Good thing, because my fear would be that they would have damaged more items if I let them reassemble anything. I will never use Allied again as the movers that were hired by Blue Chip were unprofessional and terrible. I'm sitting here for over two weeks with damaged furniture just sitting on the floor because they told us to leave it as is for the inspectors. After receiving no email or contact whatsoever after submitting my claim, I contacted them and they rudely said that they can't do anything unless 15 business days pass. So basically I have this broken furniture on my floor for over a month waiting for an inspector to come in and see "oh damn, it's broken!" The Allied spokesperson (Karen) said end of month is filling up fast but that she could only set up the Zoom in two days. We used Coleman / Allied for our recent move from Texas to California. I 100% would NOT recommend for your move. Our household items were moved with complete lack of care. I watched as the movers STOOD on our TV while packing it up then dragged it across the floor. Three of our wood furniture items were clearly dragged across the floor without proper care and are now severely scratched. Our bar has 3 chunks taken out of the front from improper packing/handling. I think worst of all, 75% of boxes arrived completely crushed with items exploding out of the burst sides. We hired Allied to move us from Spring Hill, TN to Eau Claire WI. We paid them to pack all our possessions as well as the property insurance for the move. Included in the move was our antique baby grand piano. They hired pro packers to pack it for the trip, but the movers were far from adept or professional. They had to off load our belongings to a warehouse from the box truck, and then reload to a semi truck for the trip. When the load was delivered (3 weeks late) and unloaded, we found they paid NO attention to packing anything neatly or in the labelled boxes. They stuffed business clothes in with anything else. Someone went thru our things and stole money from our wedding gifts. When the piano pros assembled the piano and moved it in, they took pictures of all the damage the movers had done to the finish and a leg was stripped of it's laminate. We had a local piano repair shop come to the house and give us an estimate for repairs and moving to and from the shop. Almost $10,000 to fix and refinish the antique. Allied sent an adjuster out after they had ignored our claim for 4 months! Then after 3 weeks we got a notice that they would reimburse us $1500 for the damages!! That will just cover the moving expense to take it to the shop and return it when finished! Customer service was the most arrogant and rude people I've ever talked to. We paid for insurance for our possessions, and they screwed us and stole from us BIGTIME! They DO NOT CARE THAT IN THE LEAST ABOUT YOU OR YOUR POSSESSIONS! After 6 months, we are still trying to find our things that they packed wrong. I had an absolutely horrible experience with this company. First off, I was not told that I would be dealing with 3 different companies. Maybe that is normal but I would like to have known I'd be dealing with Allied, a moving company, and a dispatch company with no communication between the three. Second, I was told constantly by different people that I was hard to "get a hold of" when they would call and I would call back and I always had to leave a message. They also asked for a back-up number and then never used it or gave it to the other companies-so why ask for one?? It was rude and condescending. Third, I had no estimated delivery date and was told different things by different people as to how close the truck was. My delivery was pushed back a couple of days because someone in the office did not communicate that I had confirmed the delivery time-again they could have used the back-up number if they were given it. They tried to charge me for a shuttle and I had to call and assure them that they could fit they truck on my street which they could. I used Allied 6.5 years ago to move from Denver to New York and had a fine experience, so when we moved from New York to Los Angeles, I figured we would use them again. This experience was frankly ruined by Allied being an unethical company. They were moving my husband's Ducati motorcycle which he loves and was in perfect condition. When they arrived the driver told me that the motorcycle wasn't properly secured in the truck, which was his fault, and when someone cut him off on the 101 he swerved and the motorcycle fell over. This caused approximately $4k in damage which we got estimated later. I asked him how we needed to handle this issue and he said to email our move coordinator which I did. I followed ALL the procedures they asked me the follow, submitted all the forms, including an estimate for the repair. About 2 weeks later, I got a form letter saying that Allied couldn't be sure it was their fault and they refused to pay the claim. I am disgusted that Allied would behave this way. Nope. We used them for an Los Angeles to South Carolina move, and I've regretted it every day since. The estimate was $1200 lower than the actual cost (almost a third of the estimate!), which they asked me to cover a large chunk of, even though the estimator came to the house and inspected everything we had and I frequently told him that I had a lot of books and heavy items. The delivery was delayed more than once, and the only way I found out was when I myself called the driver. We put our stuff in storage for three weeks before we found permanent housing and when we opened the storage facility we found many of our bigger items were broken. Because we didn't claim these right away, our claim was denied. But even if it had been accepted, the basic insurance pays pennies on the dollar for your goods so it's almost more insulting to get a check for 5 dollars for a floor lamp that cost $200. The best thing? A missing carton. Oh, but don't worry, we found a carton that wasn't ours with our stuff, and it took them over a week to respond to my "hey this isn't mine someone like me is probably very worried about this also along those same lines maybe you could make an effort to find mine, as I don't know if anyone else really wants glasses from my college days?" inquiry. This is likely the most unethical and unscrupulous company I have ever conducted business with. To be clear, the source of my discontent is directed solely at the company, specifically their insurance claims department. I commend the driver and the local workers (both at the departing location and arriving location); they were hard-working, efficient, generally packed/unpacked my items with care, and were pleasant to deal with. The shipment arrived a few days outside the delivery window which was an inconvenience to me, but something I was not too upset about as I understand issues can arise during an interstate shipment, especially when combining shipments from multiple households. However, I would strongly recommend against using this company due to their deceitful claims related to the protection coverage of your items. Prior to the move I was told on multiple occasions that all items transported by the moving company were insured for damage, I was given very specific instructions to avoid packing anything myself as it would void the insurance agreement. As such, I allowed the moving company to pack all items. Upon delivery I discovered irreparable damage to one of my items, the item was damaged to the extent that it was no longer usable. I notified the moving company of my finding and submitted a claim form. On the claim form I was very conservative in my estimate of the cost of the item, even devaluing it to an extent. Again, I adhered to their instructions of preserving the item in its current state and not attempting to make any repairs. After a long delay I was notified that they would not provide any compensation (despite all the earlier assurances) nor would they make any attempt to repair the item. I was dismissed in a very insulting fashion. The rationale they gave for not honoring their protection policy was essentially stating that they did not verify the condition of the item during packing, therefore could not confirm they caused the damage. In essence, they shifted the burden of proof on me. Outside of taking detailed photos or video of every single item immediately before it left my possession, then taking detailed photos or videos immediately after returning to my possession, I don't know how this can be practically accomplished. While infuriated by their conduct, I also oddly felt somewhat fortunate that only 1 item was significantly damaged (although it was a somewhat expensive item), as it was clear they could apply this same bogus rationale to every item they damage. In summary, in excess of $30,000 was spent on this move, the delivery was late, I was assured multiple times that any item damaged would be covered by insurance, when I filed a claim for an item they damaged I was totally dismissed. I put in a request to them for a quote. I got a call later in the day from them and when I picked up there was silence. Finally after a few 'hellos' from me a female voice said hello, then she put on a recording asking me to call them back to get the quote. Why do I have to call you back, we were on the phone all you had to do was talk. I got another call the next day at 5:11 AM. The third call from them I picked up and again got a recording telling me to call them back. If you want my business how about NOT robocalling me?? Even better, is both times I picked up they immediately sent an email saying "sorry we missed you." No, you didn't miss me. You never actually put a person on the phone. read more

We used Bergen/Allied and had a poor experience of missed appointments, lack of professionalism, and damages to our home on loading. On arrival at our new location we are still missing 73 items! Much of our furniture that arrived was damaged and 3 weeks later still missing more than 70 items! Local office GM still has not called back to even apologize. This is certainly the "uncaring/not careful movers to avoid! working with an attorney now and hoping for the best resolution and aide in finding our property. read more

While planning our move from New Orleans to the Los Angeles area, I searched for a moving company and was dismayed to find negative reviews of almost every company. We were referred to Allied by Angie's List, and John Fayard of Gulfport, MS was the nearest local affiliate assigned to our project. Their representative Vic came from Gulfport to survey our house and belongings and provided a quote, and even though the quote was a little higher than one we received from another mover, we decided to take the plunge and signed a contract. On the appointed day Arlando and his fabulous crew arrived and worked hard but carefully nonstop for about six hours getting our home into the shuttle truck, which was necessary because the moving van was parked blocks away because it could not drive or park on our narrow street. They then had to transfer everything into the moving van. A week later Arlando met us at our new home and, with the help of a local crew, reversed the process to get everything inside. We also had one car shipped through their subcontractor Montway Moving and Relocation, and the car arrived promptly and in good condition. To top off the experience, the final price turned out to be considerably less than the estimate! In summary, we had a very positive experience with this Allied subcontractor, but I am not able to comment on other subcontractors that Allied uses. read more

Do NOT trust this company! My mom chose Allied Van Lines to move her furniture, clothing, valuables, etc from Guilderland, NY to North Hollywood, CA because she wanted a major company she could trust. Boy was she wrong!!! Most of her items arrived except for her most valuable item - a wooden chest containing a complete set of heirloom sterling silver that was purchased as a wedding gift for my grandmother in the 1930s. It was repacked at her home in New York, as per the mover's instructions and never arrived in California. One of the boxes was marked #HIGH VALUE# China, Knives, Silverware circled with Aggen 125284. There were two repacking stickers -  #370 red by Allied and lot No T110768 and #264 yellow also by Allied. When the box was unpacked, China and knives were in it but only one handle from the wooden silverware was found on the bottom of the box. She has spoken to different people at the intake phone number to report lost and/or damaged shipments and she was told that all the information she submitted would be given to the Allied staff who would take 2-3 weeks to make a decision. She then received a request from the ALLIED staff member, Vanessa Davidson, who was assigned to her "move investigation." WHAT A WASTE OF TIME! Not only did she request information from my mom (original cost receipt of Sterling, which obviously is not available) but also told her that she should have taken out private insurance on the Sterling before Allied picked it up. Why wasn't this mentioned to her before when the valuables were discussed and papers signed? Then Ms. Davidson told her that a personal valuable items should always be insured just like her engagement and wedding rings are... how was that information relevant to my mom in finding the missing sterling, or at least the value of it, that Allied lost?
