Obviously people really like this place, and I'm not trying to be the "clever" guy who doesn't. This is just my honest opinion from trying it the first time. IHOP was packed, and I had always wanted to try Allin's Diner, so we drove over there. This place is tiny, if it is cold or hot, and the place is filled, you will be waiting outside or RIGHT on top of someone eating. Not recommended for large groups. We had a small wait, not bad at all. 1 toddler and 1 baby with us. It was tight in there with them. People have to do the slim squeeze to get by the tables. Waitresses were okay. Not rude by any means, but not overly friendly. We ordered. Fine. Son's food came out after about 10 mins or so.. Okay great.. about 5 mins pass.. Wife's food comes out.. Okay.. another 5+ mins pass. My food, no where in sight. In the mean time, a couple sat behind us AFTER we had ordered our own food. He ordered the same thing I did. He got his food before I did. I was still waiting. We finally asked a waitress about my food, she had the cook make it. Took 2 mins to get the food. By that point my wife was finishing her food. Food was okay. Small portions for price. Seemed about $1.50 to $2 more than expected. Sad little omelet. Biscuits were tough and chewy. Bacon was great. Gravy was great. The coffee cup was empty multiple times, and finally we just gave up and left. Went to pay, no "Thank you", no" thanks for coming in".. The line was, "You want a copy of your receipt?" That was it.. We won't be back. Too small, too expensive for the portions and the waitresses seemed overwhelmed with the small amount of tables. Everywhere has an off day, and my opinion doesn't change the fact people love this place and it has been here for a long time. More power to them, and I wish them many more years of success, we just won't be there for it. And I highly doubt they will mind or notice! read more

PANCAKES WITH BLUEBERRY SYRUP. That is all you need to know. But I'll keep writing anyway. This is a great local place where we love having breakfast. It is really small inside, just a mom & pop place, so you might have to wait for a table during peak hours. They feature a large variety of soups every day, and post the list on FB every morning, which is awesome. But I'll be honest, I only ever get the pancakes there. They are just too fluffy and delicious to pass up. Go get some! read more

Allin's while not a terrible restaurant it is a diner in name only and certainly not one to seek out from beyond the neighborhood. Most items were bland and with a nod to health that doesn't fit good diner food. if you do go, never, never order a quesadilla particularly, if you already knew it doesn't start with a K. This place almost gets 5 stars, but for what seemed like distracted service given the place was only half full. Ordered was the half slinger with onions (very good), one pecan pancake (very good), egg and cheese sandwhich with bacon (good, but better at Booster's) and some iced tea (pretty good). For a diner, I'll give this local love a 5 star rating. You know it's good when the place is full of regulars, with their pics on the wall. Super friendly staff, serving up a solid breakfast & lunch (they also serve dinner). Robust soup menu.... Had to be 30-40 on their menu, with 5 served today. Potato leek was a nice warm up! For breakfast, if you love French toast, you have to try theirs made with French bread. The crusty outside of the baguette holds all the eggy goodness inside. Pancakes are buttery & soft. Blueberry syrup kicks both up a notch. Breakfast burrito was very nicely toasted on the outside, served with a generous pour of a simple & fresh salsa. If you like it with a kick, order it spicy & they make it with chorizo. The only item we ordered that was average was the biscuits & gravy. Everything else was awesome, so I'd reorder one of the other plates of goodness & prob take a pass on the B & G. All in, this is a GREAT little diner for both locals & visitors! read more

I went to Lindenwood. Why did I never go to Allin's Diner ONCE during my undergrad???!? I'm kicking myself. This place is amazing! On the outside, it looks just like a typical hole-in-the-wall. It conjures up images of gross, greasy, bland diner food that you would get after a night of heavy drinking. SOOOOO not the case. The service, food, and ambiance here is incredible. Once you go inside, you'll see what I mean. Everyone is so friendly and the place is clean as a whistle. I have some advice. I hope you heed it.... GET THE SOUP. My gosh. I had the carrot dill soup and it was the BEST SOUP I HAVE EVER EATEN. It was so good, in fact, that I ordered a second bowl and took the rest of my order to go. I didn't care about anything else but that soup. I met the man behind the soup magic, and he informed me that they offer SOUP CLASSES. Oh heck yes. I'm so there. I was also offered a sample of the tomato bisque soup, which was THE BEST TOMATO BISQUE EVER. I think all their soups are probably just as fabulous. Later, after my soup binge wore off, I tried the rest of my order (a salad). It was fresh and crisp with really high-quality toppings. I can't say one bad thing about Allin's Diner. I wish I had known how good this place is while I was in college... it would have saved me from a few bad Hot Pocket meals! read more

Entry at door, a little uncomfortable at first as no one greeted me Then the young lady behind the counter said, you can sit where you like." Simple diner seating. Waitress offered drinks immediately and took my order shortly thereafter. Red cabbage slaw is made with a unique vinegrette. Very tasty. Immediately upon finishing the slaw, the pea soup arrived. A little texture with some peas slightly cooked. Very good. Ham would have given this soup a competitive edge, if it were smoked. It was slightly flavorful, but still good. Waitress came around several times to check and top off my coffee. Good coffee. This place seems to be a local favorite. Food comes out quickly and everyone seems happy with their orders. If you blink, you would pass it up. I was headed out to St. Charles near Lindenwood University (just past it on right sits Allin's Diner), and thought to check yelp for a nice breakfast place. As you walk into Allin's you will notice a few things. The place is very small, but extremely well kept and clean. The service is friendly and prompt. Their coffee is a brand named Mosaic and it is really great stuff. I had the breakfast burrito and my eating buddy had the Andouille omelet. The breakfast burrito came in a large portion and the star of the show was not one but two ingredients. The chorizo sausage and the salsa were both outstanding. It was a very, very well done burrito. Comments regarding the Andouille omelet include large, fluffy, and definitely worth being call a house specialty. The icing on the cake for us were the blueberry muffins that had just come out of the oven, piping hot! They have a hint of cinnamon and are just wonderful. I highly recommend this establishment and will certainly revisit. read more

Stumbled across this place while in St. Charles at around 8am. Decided to go in because who can resist the call of a diner during breakfast time. Ended up spending close to $60 even though the menu is cheap just because my wife and I thought everything sounded good. Cranberry bread French toast & andouille sausage omelette were the highlights, but everything was extreme good. We'll be going back for lunch and dinner hours in the near future. The meat loaf done on the smoker sounds amazing. Service was quick and friendly. Allin's has replaced my usual breakfast spot. read more

I have been to Allin's twice now, and I have walked away both times thinking that I wish I would come here more often. I've only had breakfast, but they have both been incredible breakfasts. Most recently, I had a breakfast quesadilla - packed with hashbrowns, eggs, and other yummy goodness. I also got a half order of biscuits and gravy because it just doesn't seem like breakfast if I don't! (Don't worry - I took half of the quesadilla home.) People in my groups have had the breakast burrito, the cranberry french toast, and the regular french toast. I don't even like french toast, but I was definitely coveting some of Allin's regular french toast. It looked delicious. The place is a little small, so don't be surprised if you have to wait during peak times. But it's worth it! read more

Fast, friendly, cute diner with good food. Had the full house special omelet which was a 6 egg omelet with andouille and sharp cheddar. From ordering to being served food approximately 5 minutes to a hot, fresh, fluffy omelet! They did NOT skimp on the meat or cheese which was great! I also love that they have real cheese not just american. Friendly and attentive waitress. I visited at 7 am on a Sunday so not super busy at the time, in a strip mall with lots of parking. Learned about this diner through Yelp -- appears to be quite the local tradition! Nevertheless, we felt plenty welcome as we dug into what ended up being great diner food. My current local favorite is Courtesy Diner, so I did note that the prices are a little higher here than there and in comparable locations, but as far as I'm concerned, this food was worth a bit extra. I ordered the basics: Sausage, hash browns, and scrambled eggs. All very good, and my companions and I were pleased to note the food wasn't as greasy as it could have been and was just the right amount for a filling morning meal. The pancakes tasted good, too, and even the half omelet was falling off the plate -- a perfect picture after a long night of gambling at Harrah's. One question, though: Is there a bathroom here? We didn't see one and felt too much like tourists to ask. I bet there's one in the back you can use in case of emergency, though. Would come back! read more

Food was terrible. We ordered the slinger and the Al's big breakfast. The slinger taste like everything was cooked separately and then thrown into a plate. None of the flavors complimented each other and the burger was hard as a rock. The big breakfast we had to send back due to the pancakes, eggs, and sausage all being over cooked. We were seated within 10 min on a Sat morning. Service was average. Had to wait for refills. Food was average and you got exactly what you ordered, so an omelet was only that, no bread came with it or anything else. My husband and I went to Allin's Diner about a month ago. We had a great experience. The food and service was so good and we thought we found a place we would go to regularly. We went back today and had the complete opposite experience. Two women were serving and both looked annoyed and flustered. Our server took our order and 10 minutes later half of my order came out. The other lady brought it over and literally threw it on the table. My husband and I just looked at each other in awe. About a minute later the other half of my order, which wasn't correct, came out and the same lady threw it in front of my husband. Another table came in and ordered food as well. I don't know what they said, but our server responded by pointing toward us and saying, "it's okay, those 2 messed me up too." By the time I was just about finished with my meal, my husband's order was delivered to another table and then was brought to my husband by our original server, who had been sitting at the counter eating her lunch. He looked at his burger and it looked awful. It was burnt to a crisp on the outside, dark pink on the inside, dry as a bone, and flat. He didn't eat it. The server who delivered my food came over to give us our bill and noticed that my husband didn't eat. She said "oh wow, that burger doesn't look good. Do you want me to get you another one?" My husband told her no and tried to tell her he didn't feel welcome because she threw the plates down on the table, but she walked away while he was talking. She said something to our original server, who then loudly asked, "who has the problem?" She then walked over to us and said she could get him something else. He simply stated that he runs a restaurant and didn't think the food or service was acceptable. He tried to explain and the server said "sorry we'll take care of the bill," but the way she said it sounded so demeaning. He said he wanted to at least pay for my food and the server told him no and then walked away. We will never go back. It was so awkward and they made us feel terrible. The service was bad, the burger was bad, the younger server looked like she had never washed her apron, we tried to pay for our food anyway, and we were made to feel like we caused a problem. It's so unfortunate because our original experience was so nice. Coming from people who have been in the restaurant industry for a combined 37 years, we tolerate a lot when we go out to eat because we know how hard it can be to work in a restaurant. Our second experience here was so bad. Service is important. If the servers are down right mean, people aren't going to come back. read more

We stopped in here based off the numerous great reviews but we were sorely disappointed. The waitresses were great and the half order of biscuits and gravy but that's about it. We waited for almost 45 minutes for food and it didn't even come out together. I even asked where it was which I hate doing because I know it's not the waitress' fault. Great breakfast and you get to know your neighbor too! Usual breakfast fare is found here. The coffee is really good and the portions are ample too. I had an omelette and my wife had biscuits and gravy. We really enjoyed this place. Be prepared for a bit of a wait and also for getting cosy with those you are sitting around. The place is fairly small so if you have a big group of people you might have a bit of an issue sitting together. Also you have to navigate a sea of people to get to the back where some of the seating is located. All in all a good place for a diner style breakfast. Huge fan of Allin's! It's a small, classic diner that will not comfortably fit large groups and may get a bit cramped at peak hours. Seriously though--the parking lot probably can't fit more than 5 cars. The food, however, is absolutely fantastic and well worth the trip! I ordered eggs over easy with hash browns, sausage, and a side of biscuits and gravy. The eggs were the perfect consistency, and the biscuits and gravy were flavorful and fantastic. This is really a 3.5 star but since we can't give half stars I'll give it four. I had the ruben and for $6.94, this sandwich was weak. It had two slices of pastrami on it and the bread wasn't fully grilled, nor was the cheese melted. I LOVE rubens and was really disappointed. My boyfriend had the chili dog special which looks really good and according to him, was. The chili was homemade with black and red beans and served on a nice grilled bun. Found this place with a great rating on yelp. I like to find small hole in the wall places to eat. This was definitely small and cramped. We waited quite a while for our food. The husband got pancakes and biscuits and gravy which were both good. I got bacon, eggs, hash-browns and toast and for as simple as it was I was not impressed. Waitress never asked if we needed anything or refills. She brought our check without asking if we wanted anything else. When I asked for a refill she told me they werent free and seemed irritated I wanted more to drink and had to fix our ticket bc of it. A coworker demanded breakfast for lunch..well specifically BACON..and who doesn't love bacon (really the only reason I am not a vegetarian!!). So while they salivated at the idea of deliciousness I scoured Yelp for an appropriate locale..and as often happens my fellow reviewers came through with a winner! I am a simple breakfast person..two eggs over medium (ick to runny whites), crisp bacon, wheat toast, and hash browns. My usual complaint is runny whites when ordering over medium (see "Ick" comment above). But much like a fine steak house Allin's has provided a guide on what your order will mean to final product and came through perfectly! Bacon was also crispy but not burnt so color me happy!! Why not 5 stars? Well I am also a coffee snob...and it was a bit..watery..and I like several bread options (white and wheat but i did see some marble rye floating around..perhaps I should have asked..).
