I've been to this location twice, now. First time I came here it was a bit of a strange visit. Came on a weekday so it wasn't busy, tons of empty seating with maybe four other parties in the restaurant. I felt as if we were kind of rushed when it came to eating, got the bill handed to us within two minutes of us getting our food, lol. No big deal, just have never had that happen before. I got the eggs Benedict and unfortunately I was not a fan of the hollandaise sauce. Salad was fine. Second time we came it was a wonderful visit! Came on a busy weekend morning and was still met with super friendly service, we loved our server and she was so kind. Sat on the patio, note to self: maybe try to sit inside during the summer time. Patio gets hot and humid FAST. This time I got the pesto chicken power bowl- LOVED it. I tried the donut holes which were phenomenal, too. We also got the biscuits, my mom loved them- they were a little dry for my taste. Still a great experience, however. I normally enjoy First Watch and eat at various locations frequently, which is why today's experience was so disappointing, especially since it was my birthday breakfast. Let me start by saying that the food is usually very good. First Watch is one of my favorite breakfast spots, and I visit often. However, today's meal fell short of what I have come to expect. I ordered my usual smoked salmon dish and immediately noticed there was much less salmon on the plate than normal. I also requested that the salmon be cooked a little, as I typically do. When the plate arrived, the portion was noticeably smaller than what I have received on countless previous visits and the salmon was a little hard. In addition, the tomatoes were soggy, which further affected the quality of the meal. I politely mentioned my concerns and asked for more salmon. The manager did attempt to accommodate my request and brought out additional salmon, which I appreciated. However, even after the additional salmon was added, the portion still did not resemble what I am accustomed to receiving when ordering this dish. During our conversation, I was told that adding more salmon would not make much difference because it "shrivels up" when cooked. As someone who orders this meal regularly, that explanation did not align with my past experiences. What disappointed me most was not that a mistake may have been made, but how the concern was handled. As a loyal customer, I wasn't looking for an argument or an explanation. I was simply hoping the manager would acknowledge my concern and ensure I left satisfied. Instead, I felt like I had to defend my own experience with a dish that I order frequently. Additionally, my niece had the same meal. Hers was the same way, but after she saw what happened with me, she didn't even ask for anymore. She just ate it the way it was. At that point, I chose not to make a bigger issue of it and became quiet, but the interaction changed the atmosphere of what was supposed to be an enjoyable birthday breakfast. I will continue to visit First Watch because I generally enjoy the food and have had many positive experiences there. However, I hope this feedback is taken seriously. Customer service is often remembered long after the meal is over, and while I appreciate the manager's attempt to correct the issue, today's experience did not reflect the level of quality or service that has kept me coming back over the years. read more

I was in town visiting family and staying nearby, so we decided to stop by First Watch for breakfast on a Wednesday morning. There was plenty of parking, and we were seated immediately with no wait. My mom ordered the Million Dollar Potatoes. She absolutely loved the potatoes, although she's not a fan of bacon, so I happily took care of that for her. The bacon was thick and had just the right touch of maple syrup drizzled on top. I went with the waffle, which was light and fluffy. I paired it with eggs and sausage, which was good. I also tried their Honey Caramel Crunch Iced Coffee. Unfortunately, they forgot to add the toffee nut crumbles but the drink looked pretty lol. However, It was just okay overall, and I probably wouldn't order it again. My cousin kept it simple with grits and toast, and she enjoyed her meal. The server was friendly, the food arrived quickly, and the ambiance was calm and welcoming. Overall, we had a good experience, and I would return next time I'm in town. read more

What better way to kick off the Holiday of Summer - Fourth of July, than with the Summer menu. Met friends for breakfast this morning, before things got crazy with the Holiday Weekend. The Summer menu has a new drink, WATERMELON WAKE-UP: Watermelon, pineapple, lime and mint. Very refreshing. Our table opted for two other items off the Summer menu: ELOTE BREAKFAST BURRITO & STRAWBERRY TRES LECHES FRENCH TOAST. As always, food was fresh, flavorful, and hit the spot. First Watch is one of my favorite places to get brunch. The food is consistently good. Even though they are usually very busy we get seated quickly. I got a seasonal caramel coffee to drink. It was very good. I got the triathlete omelette with potatoes as my main course. I don't know why this omelette is so good but I would highly recommend it. I also split a blueberry muffin with my husband. It tasted very fresh. First watch has a large menu with great breakfast and lunch options. The staff is always helpful and friendly. Did a breakfast date with hubby this morning and wanted to try this location. It's located in the streets of St. Charles. Parking was plentiful. Upon walking in it's a bit congested and crowded and limited space. Shaped like shotgun which means straight line seating . Decent space between tables. Service was speedy and waitress was helpful on ordering. I ordered Belgium Waffle and million dollar bacon . It could have been hotter but not worth the argument. This is a fun, lightly upscale breakfast joint and would be perfect for lunch after errands, a cute brunch with friends or even a business lunch. There's great natural lighting inside as well as a great porch. I had a cold brew and The Works omelette. The potatoes as a side are a must! The food was tasty and decently portioned. I guess this chain in general is very 3-star because I wrote a 3-star review of the First Watch in Central West End a couple years ago! I went with a friend to the St. Charles location after a hard workout, looking forward to a great experience and tasty food. Unfortunately, First Watch did not live up to these expectations. The service was OK, with the server just doing enough to get by and never checking in with us. Initially, she didn't provide straws, so I asked for them and it took more than five minutes (I get this isn't that much time but when you have drinks waiting to be drank, I want straws sooner) so I had to get up and get them myself from the server. The food was OK. The chickichanga wasn't as crispy on the outside as advertised and was quite bland. The potatoes were also undercooked. I ordered the Honey Caramel Crunch Iced Coffee and it was full of sweet cream cold foam and packed with ice to the top and I don't think there was any coffee (if there was, it wasn't much) so I had to order coffee separate. Ambiance was fine, I liked the big windows making it bright with natural light. They also ran out of paper towels in the bathroom (and there were no hand dryers). All in all, I will not go back. And maybe not back to a First Watch at all considering the trending 3-star reviews! read more

Their automated cue system is not effective. We came here on a Saturday around 10.30am and were told that wait time is 45 minutes and they tell everyone the same. But we saw some people came after us, cut us off and got a table earlier than us! We had to wait 50 minutes to get a table. It was so uncomfortable waiting by the door and people were trying to get in/out. This place can't handle more than 30 people at a time on weekends, especially in winter: there is only few tables inside. Breakfast skillet hash that I ordered was just ok, nothing special. I will definitely go somewhere else next time. I'm not someone who gets overstimulated, but it is nearly impossible to not scream at the person you're sitting across from. Certain 2 person tables are elbow-to-elbow with the other tables. Quit forcing tables together like sardines and get back to providing a more palatable dining experience. The St. Peter's location doesn't have this issue and I will be going there. Service is acceptable but not anything above baseline expectations and I feel like that is due to your servers having like 6 tables at once. Hey, who doesn't like first watch? We moved recently and wanted to try out our newly local location, and it didn't disappoint. The food is spectacular. As with most locations it is crowded with a long wait. Obnoxious, but clearly it's a sign of a business doing something right. Wait staff are attentive enough but it's understandably difficult to give everyone the attention they need perfectly with the place being so busy. This location is quite a bit smaller than others I've been to, so bear in mind that wait may be a bit longer. I tried their Korean hash this time, an item off of their seasonal menu. My god is it amazing. I just wish there was more, I got very sad when my plate was finished. It rekindled my love affair with kimchi- I had to go out and by some the same day. read more
