We booked a room at Aloft for 7 nights during Christmas/New Year 2025-2026. The location is convenient since it's within walking distance to Magnificient Miles with lots of shops. There are also lots of restaurants nearby. The room was kinda small but could accommodate our family. Our room was on the 9th floor and the water pressure was not strong. Also, the hot water was inconsistent - sometimes it went super cold then minutes later it went super hot. Another complaint was that the house keeper didn't replenish the coffee & tea during room cleaning. The room has a small fridge which we used to store our breakfast items. I could definitely hear the room next door having party during new year's eve and another night when the kids were playing very late at night. The good thing is that they have an indoor heated swimming pool even though it was smallish. My kiddo made some friends here and all the guests were friendly. read more

I stayed at Aloft from 6/5-6/11 with my husband and our pet cat. Our room had floor to ceiling windows and a king bed. There is a workout room and a pool on the 17th floor. The room overall was lovely, but the sink water pressure was a little weak. I liked the lighting features in the room and that there were lots of outlets and USB jacks for devices. We drove into the city, so the front desk recommend parking in the deck around the corner of the hotel. Fortunately, we found a good corner parking space near the elevators, so hauling our luggage from the deck to the hotel wasn't too terrible. However, later I thought to myself, why didn't they offer letting us unload our car closer to the hotel driveway at check-in? But it was already too late at that point. It's a cute hotel with a chic, boutique feel. I would definitely return for a weekend trip to Chicago. read more

Cameo the valet was amazing! He helped assemble our mobility cart and helped my wife self park. He gets an A plus. He made the hotel stay amazing from the start! You just have to love him! Aloft is definitely one of those hip and modern hotels. It had a pool table, bar, and lots of sesting available in the lobby. The room was also simple but had everything you would it. I also would like to point out that Aloft had the BEST shampoo and conditioner I've used throughout my travels. Definitely would book this again. read more

Great central location for downtown Chicago. Lots of restaurants within walking distance as Aloft has bar area but no full service restaurant. I like these properties for personal travel as rooms don't have desks. Location is clean and staff was friendly. Be aware this location is across the street from a hospital. You might wonder why this hotel has such low ratings. I wondered that too, given the great location and a decent looking exterior. Dear reader, allow me to guide you through the experience that is Aloft Mag Mile. I originally reserved a city view king room. I also originally got that room - a spacious room with multiple windows and a great view. All was fine until around 11pm. The person in the room down the hall had left their room - and also left their large dog in their room. The dog barked loudly. For an hour. I finally went the front desk at midnight. The agent was kind and tried in vain to contact the person in the room. No answer. So now we have a large dog barking incessantly, no apparent ability to stop the dog, and clearly no sleep on my part. The only option at this point is to gather my belongings and move rooms - again, at midnight. But it gets better. There are no more city view king rooms. There are only rooms with two queen beds. Fine. I am tired and just want to sleep. I suppose at least I'll still have a view, right? Wrong. The new room is 5 floors down, has a tiny window and overlooks HVAC equipment, and is in the one location I explicitly requested in my reservation to not be - right next to the elevator. So much for paying extra for a king view room. One other note: with the exception of the overnight desk agent, staff were indifferent at best. There are several other hotels within a few blocks - including other Marriott properties. Do yourself a favor and stay at one of them instead of Aloft. read more

Thank goodness they have a key card access to the elevator since the Hotel personnel allows beggars to hang out and beg in the lobby'. They actually just sit and watch you get harassed. The reply to my survey was as expected. The Hotel told me I was wrong and the 60 bedbug bites were my imagination. You have to love the lack of business sense to insult and say the customer is wrong? Teach your staff to not tell people they are wrong and that you apologize and will take actions to fix it and that leaves the customer feeling validated but they don't understand the service industry clearl. Unsafe hotel. Bad management. I attached a video showing that the lock on my room was broken. Initially the door felt locked but, if you pressed down harder, it would unlock without a key. I did not learn this until after I had stayed in the room all night and had gone out to eat (with all my valuables, laptop, etc.) left in the room. I sent the video to the manager (Tyler) and asked them to please check the lock immediately, before another guest checked into the room and their safety was also put at risk. Instead of apologizing, fixing the issue, or acknowledging how unsafe and unsettling this experience had been for me as a guest, I received a lecture from the manager about the type of lock, how it can be tested, etc. In other words, he avoided all accountability and failed to provide adequate and empathic customer service. I am a Marriott Titanium member so I contacted Marriott to file a complaint regarding this hotel's lack of safety and the failure of the manager to appropriately respond. read more

Great area around multiple shops and restaurants. It's very pup friendly- but guess what? Hardly any dog walks around- had to walk .5 miles for a good grassy area. What's wonderful stay! The staff was kind and friendly at the front desk during our visit. They were super helpful when it came to any questions we had as well. Aloft hotels are generally pretty solid mid grade hotels, but this one really went above and beyond for me! Located along the Mag Mile and close to multiple restaurants. Near the Chicago Riverwalk and a few of the smaller museums. Has a lobby with a 24 hour pantry. Has breakfast in the morning. Has a bar with a small decent menu. A nice outside seating area. The lobby also has large windows that open up to the street, which is great on warm nights. I got upgraded to a corner room, which was larger and had windows on every wall. The bed was soft, linens decent. Lots of room. Big TV. I stayed one night on business, then decided to extend my stay an additional night using points. They accommodated me immediately and without hesitation and let me stay in my upgraded room! In the corner it was pretty quiet. You have to have your key card to access your floor, so it's safe. There is also a gym and a pool on the top floor. Prices were under 200 a night. Will definitely stay here again. read more

Usually Aloft Hotels are on point but I was not thrilled with this location. I changed rooms because the first smelled terribly of smoke. The second was fine enough but the phone didn't work, the lights were spotty and I didn't feel very safe. I lived in Chicago for 8 years in that area so I know the space but with the loud neighbors at all hours I was concerned. The lobby turns into a loud party with folks in all manner of dress with everything from pjs to club outfits. I just don't understand the goal or the identity of the hotel. The location is perfect! It was so lovely being back in my space when we lived there and seeing so may of the restaurants we loved survive COVID. It is so close to the pier, the lake front, Michigan Ave, the river and all the sites. I would highly recommend staying in the area but maybe not this hotel until they cross all their ts. read more

Status: titanium Pros: - 2 breakfast items and 2 beverages (estimated value $40 depending on what you pick) - location - a pool/gym - early/late check out - nice folks - comfy beds (huge plus!) Mixed feelings about our experience at the Aloft in Chicago on the Mag Mile. Location is decent, depending on what your plans are while you're in town. The hotel service was great and checkin/out process was quick and smooth. Our room however, left plenty to be desired and cleaned from the last patrons that occupied the space. Our room was dirty, there was human leftovers on the wall by the toliet and the tv stopped working randomly for no reason. Booked this establishment for a family trip and was very unhappy with the customer service and stay. One of the beds was URINE COVERED underneath the duvet and was unnoticed until a family member slipped in to go to sleep. I was switched to another room but was told there would be no refund for the UNSANITARY BEDDING and incident. I would not recommend this establishment to another individual as the customer care from the hotel does not meet the standards that I have seen across the Marriott portfolio. We had reservations at this hotel, because there is where we need to be for a conference. When we went to check in at 1:30am, we were told they didn't have a room for us despite us having reservations, a confirmation number and being Titanium Elite tiered customers. The guy at the front desk couldn't do anything include contact his manager. He was friendly and after a couple hours brought us waters, but I wouldn't say helpful. We called Marriott (1.5 hour phone call) and they said we should've called before midnight. MARRIOTT TOLD US TO CHECK EXPEDIA instead of making things right! Are you kidding me? We have a confirmation number HERE. Zero help! We called a Marriott near O'Hare which is nowhere near where we need to be but many places were sold out in the downtown area or astronomically priced. Around 4:30am we were told we could check in at the other hotel. I have NOTHING nice to say about the customer service we received when we called the Marriott phone number for help. Avoid this hotel if you expect a room when you reserve one. Now we'll need to leave early for Uber to get us through traffic back and forth to downtown for a conference and the added expense and inconvenience. Nice lobby. Son and I stayed here for three nights to tour Chicago. Great location for easy access to all things Chicago. We also got a three day CTA pass and there are several nearby bus stops which has buses every few minutes. Price was great. Guess nobody visits Chicago in Dec. Stayed on the 18th floor. Though it's the highest floor, there's not much to see outside the window. 19th floor has pool and very large fitness center. No free breakfast here. Tons of good restaurants within walking distance. Whole Foods is also close by. It was actually very quiet in our room, unlike what other reviewers have mentioned. However, someone kept their dog in their room while they left in the afternoon and it kept on barking all afternoon. Service was responsive for us. Because of covid, there's no room service. We only needed someone to empty our trash. We left the trash outside our door and called front desk. It was empty within 5 minutes. Glad we picked this place for our trip. read more

I stayed here while on a quick trip to Chicago. Super convenient spot to stay as it is walking distance to many places. The parking here is valet only $65 a day with 3 in/out privileges. The hotel staff are all very friendly. There was a big mix up with my room and they did their best to resolve it in a timely manner. The amenities are all great too! There is a gym with ample equipment, a pool, dining options, and a bar. There is live music some nights and the lobby area is bustling and lively on the weekends at night. The room was very spacious and had everything we needed. Room service cleans every other day. read more

I kicked the bowl of dog treats then walked right into a foot high trio of round "seats", falling face first into them before sliding off on the floor while the valet looked on. Never stare at your phone when you walk into an A-Loft (or W for that matter). Modern, trendy decor inside of repurposed spaces for urban living. It's inexpensive, tech forward and cool. Skinny jeans, open collar shirt and eco friendly sneakers, you'll belong. Speaking of tech forward, everything managed through an app including reservations, check in / out and digital keys. Good high speed WiFi throughout, lots of places to charge devices in the room, lobby, and bar and a robot roaming around for good measure. Rooms are small (340sq ft for a double city view) but very clean and comfortable. Decent toiletries. Location, location, location. Easy walking distance to loads of restaurants, transportation, theaters, and attractions. The WXYZ bar, the central focus of the lobby, casual, proper and fairly priced. It fulfills adult hydration needs. Sub $160/nt (Aug 2022). When traveling it is always important to choose a hotel that meets but does not exceed your needs. Why pay for ultimate luxury when you're in the city for a mere 22 hours? Satisfying despite the arrival theatrics. read more

I booked 5 nights for a long weekend with my long-distance boyfriend who was visiting from out of town and wanted to get away from my building because I live where I work so it is hard for me to disconnect. When I arrived around 7PM the lobby was packed and there was no indication where to go to check in, the valet stand is where you would normally expect a check-in desk to be and the entire lobby is like a nightclub in the evenings which seems weird for the size, but it also shares space with a snack bar so it just feels confusing; like others have said, I'm not sure what identity or "feel" they're really going for, but whatever it is they didn't hit the mark. The staff were friendly enough and got me checked in quickly. Upon arriving in the room, which was a $300/night suite that I booked during a Bonvoy member flash sale, I was really disappointed to find cobwebs on the windows, outdated art in the hallway that doesn't even sit properly in the frame, and huge water stains on the curtains. The bed was comfortable enough. Another disappointment was finding out that housekeeping is offered only every other day of your stay. Again, for $300/night, I would expect at least the option of a refresh each day. (Which you can get, but you have to specifically ask for it.) Additionally, the WiFi was so bad that I chose not to use it and just stayed on mobile data the entire trip. Which is fine for me as I have an unlimited data plan, but I can imagine this would be a dealbreaker for some and especially in 2024 seems a bit strange, and again not really up to par for the cost of the room. When housekeeping did come it seemed all they did was make the bed, take out the trash, and a cursory vacuum. There was still dust on the floor in some spots, the conditioner in the shower was not refilled, and the bathroom counter and living area table were very obviously not wiped down. So for every other day there was a cursory cleaning done. I'm not sure if they are short staffed or the housekeepers aren't given adequate time to clean the rooms, but I was pretty disappointed for the cost. Definitely a hotel that seems to have given up a lot of service and details in the interest of being "cool", and not somewhere I would stay again. read more

Aloft has an aesthetically pleasing lobby. I had prepared for my room with 2 queen beds and the check-in process was quite easy. My sister was visiting and she really wanted to see Chicago so off we went! One of the companies her organization does business with had left us some tickets for a show and they staff immediately informed us and grabbed the mail. It wasn't an issue. So, the room itself is sufficient, check-in was super easy, the place has a small marketplace where you can buy necessities from such as bottled water and snacks. There is also a bar in the lobby and they had live bands the weekend we stayed with them. The hotel was clean, bright and located within the Magnificent mile. It's a fabulous location if you're looking to do some shopping while keeping yourself within walking or minimal driving distance to other activities in the city. Walking distance from the hotel are a few restaurants. We enjoyed our stay and don't really have much to complain about except for the time we got locked out. The hotel closes their main lobby door sometime during the evening and we got back from our adventures around 10pm to find the lobby doors locked. Fortunately, someone let us in. We could not find a place to use our cards to open the door. Perhaps there was a specific location but we weren't told during check-in. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. My sister and her boyfriend are currently staying at this hotel and feel so unsafe that they've barricaded themselves in their room and called me panicking at 2:30 in the morning. For starters, they booked a room and prepaid but the hotel made some type of mistake and had to cancel their booking at check in and make a new reservation. They now have to wait 10 days for that refund. And to top it off, the man at the front desk gave their room number out to a random guy in the middle of the night right after being told that they were being followed and laughing in their faces. They had noticed these three guys following them when they were out and about. Saw the car they were in and noticed they were circling the hotel. My sister's boyfriend then heard them ask the front desk what room they were staying in and heard the worker give the man my sister's room number. The three men are wearing ski masks as well. They would like to leave the hotel but are scared to leave their room and go to their car. Don't stay here if you are alone or unarmed. Will be looking into legal action as well. read more

I'm a dedicated Marriott Bonvoy member, and I choose Marriott properties whenever I can. We picked this hotel because of its location. I wish we hadn't. The location is good, but that's about it. The Marriott website states it offers both valet and self parking. It does so via a distant off site lot. While the valets were the high point of our stay (they were kind and pleasant), dropping our car took more than a little while, and getting it back took even longer. Self parking wasn't really an option since there are no "in/out" privileges, meaning it would cost $45 each time we took the car out of the garage. The hotel is the typical Aloft "urban/Gen Z" property, with amenities that appeal to that generation. Apparently, cash doesn't appeal to that generation; when we asked for change at the front desk to tip the hard working valets, we were told that they didn't have any cash available. They sent us over to the breakfast bar to ask for change; the vendor there was very surprised that the front desk didn't know that the breakfast bar was also a cashless operation. I'm a Marriott Bonvoy gold member. For my loyalty, I generally expect nothing more than 2 free bottles of water, a kind greeting, and something other than the worst room in the house. I got one of those (well, actually half of one of those; we got exactly one bottle of water for the two of us). When we checked in, we were told that we were being given a "premium" room with a north (i.e. Lake Michigan") view. When we got to the room, the "view" was, literally, a view of the HVAC equipment on the roof of the building next door. We went downstairs and asked for a room change and was told that was the best room they had. When I asked what room a Marriott silver member might expect to receive, I expected them to tell me that it would be a room perhaps without a door, or maybe even a cot in the lobby. The response was a snarky "that's the best room in the house". I told them that I was going to call Marriott Bonvoy customer service and that I'd stand at the front desk until the matter was resolved. As soon as I started dialing, the clerk (who was not on the phone, and was not looking at his computer screen, but rather glaring at me) suddenly said "Oh, look, room XXX has suddenly come available". Impressed by his ESP, I said we'd check it out. It was marginally better, so we took it. All in all, if you can't deliver a decent customer service interaction, Aloft Magnificent Mile, you can't expect to earn the repeat business of a frequent traveler. You also cannot earn a recommendation. I recommend pretty much ANY other hotel in the area; the EMC Squared hotel across the place looked much nicer. Avoid the Aloft Magnificent Mile like the plague. read more

My husband and I stayed here with our dog recently. Shortly after checking into our room, I discovered that the heating and cooling unit in the room did not work. I went down to the front desk to ask about it and I was told to give it 20 minutes for the system to kick on. The system never kicked on, and my husband and I went out to dinner. Upon returning, we discovered that our room was hot, but by that point it was 1:30 am, and my husband did not want to switch rooms. I again went down to the front desk and was offered a fan, which I accepted, but I expected to be given a discount on the price of the room considering I paid for a fully functional heating and cooling unit and I did not receive that. The hotel also smells like weed because they allow people to smoke marijuana in front of the main doors. I understand that it's difficult to ask people to move away from your hotel if they're smoking weed on your property, but it's disgusting.
