The sushi is standard, not bad. The taro boba was awful. The worst I've ever tasted (and I've tried a lot of milk tea from all over the Bay Area). Cool hole in the wall place, in the midths of the Northgate Area. It's a fast casual restaurant where you order at the counter, and they give you table service with your food. However, the interior could get an uplift in lighting and cleanliness because it was very dark with sticky tables. I ordered a bento box with chicken teriyaki and chicken katsu. They gave big portions at $11.95, which is a good deal nowadays. The chicken teriyaki was nothing to rave about, as it was mediocre, but the chicken katsu was everything it needed to be. The chicken katsu was big in portions and hit the spot really good. The salad wasn't much to rave about, but decent. I would probably come back here if I was ever in the area. read more

The food is good, the workers are relatively nice, but the portions are an absolute joke. When this poke place first opened, their portions were pretty good but each time I've gone back, I've been receiving less and less food. They are incredibly stingy with the fish and the toppings so you're paying quite a bit for a minimal amount. If they don't want to change their portion sizes, they should lower their prices. I was so excited that a poke place was finally opening in Marin but was extremely disappointed and frustrated with how little we all got. I'm now hesitant to go back. Unless things change, I'll be looking forward to another poke place opening in Marin to go to. read more

I just got a poke bowl here, and the fish was not at all fresh. I eat a lot of poke and sushi, so I feel like I'm a decent judge of fish quality. The ahi tuna was chewy and had a fishy taste that fresh ahi should not have. I honestly am scared that I am gonna get sick from it. read more

This place is actually in Northgate One, over by Safeway. You can make your own poke bowl with up to two kinds of fish and any toppings you want. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. I got the tuna which was really good quality along with sushi rice, ponzu and sesame sauces, and a bunch of toppings. The wasabi is super spicy, so make sure to mix it in really well. It's brand new so they don't quite have their ordering system worked out yet. You fill out a piece of paper and then stand there while the cashier enters everything you just wrote into the computer to create a ticket. Feels really inefficient. I'm sure they'll figure out a faster way soon, because people are definitely going to be lining up hungry for delicious poke. read more

I was looking for some fresh Asian food in San Rafael but so many places have way too much oil in their food or are not a grab and go place. Aloh-o is amazingly delicious and fresh high quality food in a informal cafe type setting. I ordered the crab poke bowl with half brown rice half greens, spicy mayo and five toppings. I am a brown rice snob and I can tell you they have great perfectly cooked brown rice. They give you quite a lot of rice so I recommend you do the rice/greens split. I'm new to poke bowls and don't eat much raw fish. I was really happy with their crab salad it was just perfectly flavored without a fishy taste. The spicy mayo was not too spicy, next time I may add wasabi on there as well. The sit down space is sparkling clean especially considering this is a kid friendly place. The music playing was very relaxing and it felt very spa like. I will definitely be back with my husband. read more

Went here for the first time. Good poké, large chunks of fish, good selection of toppings and sauce. The bowls come with two scoops of poké, but the scoop must be on the small side cuz I didn't feel the quantity was adequate. And a suggestion: don't order the chips as your bowl base; I thought they'd use fried wonton chips but they use tortilla chips, which are too salty. read more

Food was ok but my issue is that the packaging is ALL plastic. In this day and age and the availability of compostable containers there is absolutely no excuse for this. The crab was just a blob with some sort of mayonaisey sauce. I have contacted the store as well but until the packaging changes , I won't be going back. read more

One of the worst meals I've had in a while. I got a bento box with chicken katsu & tempura shrimp. The chicken was weird, very chewy, the shrimp was way overcooked. The tempura was super hard & the shrimps were very skinny, it was basically a hard stick of batter. I didn't finish my meal. I gave two stars because my husband got sushi and he said it was just ok. He also had miso soup but didn't like the flavor. Maybe this place is ok for poke or certain sushi, but we will never eat here again. read more

I work up the street from here and tried it for my dinner break. It was DELICIOUS. I got the salmon poke bowl, potstickers, and ice cream sandwich(I was clearly hungry). Everything was amazing! Ice cream is a little pricey, but tastes as good as it looks. Found out the owner is the same person that owns a sushi restaurant in Novato. I haven't had worse sushi in a while. The tuna bits were huge(too big to eat without cutting), the lettuce was romaine... really, mixed greens would have been a lot better. The staff was friendly but they were unclear when we were ordering. I asked for just sesame seeds and they gave me sesame seeds and seaweed which I'm not a fan of. Terrible service, Terrible boba drinks, tastes like chemicals, moth balls. The woman who rung up our order was wearing gloves then when she turned to make the drinks she used some hand sanitizer over the gloves!!!! I guess they don't change their gloves before handling food or drinks? I should have known to stop the order right there. I/we really wanted to like this place. Poke eateries are very popular in the Bay Area and there aren't any in Marin. My hubby ordered a poke bowl with sushi rice, salmon, tuna and assorted toppings and a spicy sauce. Even after mixing in all the ingredients, proportionally the bowl had too much rice. I suppose it's more filling that way. I ordered a tempura plate that gave 2 pieces of shrimp and 4 pieces of vegetables. All were greasy with a heavy batter. The shrimp was fairly teeny, mostly batter. But our primary disappointment was actually from the owner himself. As we were sitting there eating our food, we watched him work as he was helping prepare Poke bowls for customers. Yes he had gloves on while he was preparing food. He uses his gloved hands to pick through portions of raw and cooked food and or toppings to prepare the dishes. That's all fine and well. But, without taking his prep gloves off we would see him going from the prep area to other parts of the restaurant, the store or back room, pick up boxes of whatever and containers of other food items to bring back to the food prep area. With the same gloves on he goes to fuss with the music system. Still with the same gloves on, he picks up a bottle and takes a drink. Now it's time to prepare food again. With the exact same gloves on, he goes back to handling the raw and cooked food for customers using the gloves not serving spoons to scoop. The entire half hour we were sitting there eating, he never changed his gloves once as he moved from one area to another and touched one object to another. It's scary but I'm sure many establishments run this way. We're just not aware of it and we don't see it. Restaurants are busy and don't have the time to be so fastidious. After watching this, I can't say that I would return even though I would love to have a local poke establishment. read more

I wanted to love this place because OMG poke spot in Marin, however I was so disappointed. We did go the first week they were open and maybe it has gotten better. I may give it a try again soon. The food that I did get was good, but there wasn't much of it. I literally had 9 small pieces of fish in my entire bowl. The bowl itself was way too big compared to what was in it which also made it look like a tiny serving. I have been to poke places in the area which serve generous servings for less money. The pictures on the website show large beautiful servings of poke and I had to literally search through the lettuce and toppings to find the fish. Basically all of the pictures on the website have nothing to do with this actual restaurant. I also really don't like it when I am staying and eating in a restaurant and I am forced to use the same disposable plastic to-go container. I want this place to be successful but I want to actually get poke when I order a poke bowl. read more

We are always excited when something new comes to our area but once again we are disappointed once we have tried it. We went for bento box items Teri chicken and tempura and a katsu with tempura. We also opted for a side salad and edamame. After waiting over half an hour for the food ( there was only 1 group of 4 ahead of us) we finally got our food. There were 4 people working so I would have thought it would be much faster. We also used the self service check in and out which seemed to allow the people who ordered after me at the counter to get their food first. On to the food ... the chicken was good but cold and the tempura was cooked so long that it was dried out. It was also quite greasy. I think the oil wasn't hot enough to create a crisp. The katsu was ok. The side "salad" which I paid $5 for was just lettuce and only filled a plastic container half way which was maybe 4 bites. The salad dressing was gross! Tasted like just soy sauce in lettuce. The edamame was taken from a frozen bag right in front of us and put in boiling water and forgotten about? It ended up being mushy from over cooking. I just ate here for the second time in about a week- actually both times I got carry out because I live close by. Sorry there's no photos to go with the review- we were hungry and everything looked to good to delay eating in order to take photos. On the first visit I got two sushi rolls and a seaweed salad. I originally planned to try the poke but I was starving and thought the bowls looked small in relation to my appetite. I was happy with my food and felt the prices were ok. Today I ordered lunch for two people. I got 2 poke bowls, an unagi and avocado roll, and an order of veggie potstickers. Everything was really good! The poke bowls turned out to be more substantial than they looked to me in my first visit. I was happy with my choice of half sushi rice/ half salad greens, spice tuna and crab, Hawaii sauce, and about half of the optional toppings they offer. Everything was fresh and well prepared. The poke bowls seem like the best deal there- especially if you select plenty of toppings. The potstickers were good but seemed a little pricey for 5 small (but tasty) pieces. The rolls I've had have all been good- they're on the small side but the pricing is in line with what you get. read more
