Got sunny side up eggs with runny yolks that just melt together with the gravy, rice, and pork. The sweet, buttery roll soaked in the gravy is also such a good addition. 100% getting this again! -Chicken Long Rice: a little different than the ones we tried in Hawaii (different noodle and more veggies in this one) but still so comforting and delish. Heartwarming and gingery goodness. -BBQ chicken plate: also very solid, not super sweet like teriyaki and comes in a decent sized portion. Mac salad is legit and so good - perfect consistency and seasonings. -French toast: one of the best! A superb doughy, chewy, cinnamony, thick cut slice that I drowned in butter and syrup. Ordered take out and it was ready within 15 min or so. Parking lot looked tiny but we just parked on the residential street and it was a quick walk. Wish I lived closer (I'd be here all the time) but totally worth the trip - will be coming back again very soon!

We got the loco moco, Portuguese sausage, and the macadamia nut pancakes. Everything together was less than $40 which feels unreal in 2026! It was more than enough food for 2 people and we had to take some home. 4 stars only because the interior and bathroom in particular are cramped and dated. It's probably how they keep their prices so low but some things could use a refresh!

The gravy is so good it could make you reconsider long-held political beliefs and peacefully change governments. I'm not saying treaties have been signed over this gravy, but I'm not ruling it out either. The over easy egg breaking into the rice and burger patty is basically poetry. Every bite feels like a warm hug from somebody's Hawaiian grandma. And the Spam musubi? Those things scream my name every time I walk through the door. I tell myself I'm just coming for the loco moco and somehow a musubi magically appears in front of me. Science can't explain it. Consistently delicious food, huge portions, and the kind of place that turns into a regular stop before you even realize it. 5 billion stars. If Yelp won't let me give more than five, that's a limitation of the platform, not the restaurant.

They give a decent amount of food but everything is so expensive, especially for a place lunch. The sauce they give you with the chicken dishes was not teriyaki. Not sure what it has in it but it was sour and off putting. I asked for the ingredients of the Mac salad. They couldn't tell me what was in it but said it had heavy cream? Seems to be a very unusual ingredient to have in Mac salad? The cabbage salad didn't come with dressing so it was just plain. The garlic shrimp was deep fried and not grilled or steamed which was different. We were interested in getting the spam musubi but they couldn't tell us why the rice looked orange so we didn't get it. Potential but the prices are way too high for plate lunches and the quality of food, strange coloring, unusual tastes for the sauces and a staff that can't answer questions mean we will never return.

Over the years I've gotten take-out here but have also done dine-in. It seems they mostly do catering now, because they have very short business hours for the public. They are only open Thursdays and Fridays 10-3. Per the nice male employee who gave me my order, they're open on Sat and Sun if they don't have a lot of catering jobs, otherwise they're closed. Their website says their dining room is closed, but the employee says it's open Thurs and Fri. Nevertheless, I followed the website's info and ordered pick up. Here's what I ordered: 1) Komai's Big Breakfast. Komai was Aloha's original chef. Two eggs with all the meats: Portuguese sausage, Spam, Vienna sausage, corned beef hash plus 2 scoops of rice and a Hawaiian roll. No surprises here, very nice. 2) Kal B Chicken plate lunch. Chicken marinated in the same sauce as the more familiar kalbi beef short ribs, with rice and mac salad. The chicken did not seem to take up the marinade as well as beef, so it was tasty but on the dry side. I'd probably give their chicken teriyaki a go next time. The mac salad was fine, did have potatoes. 3) Spam musubi. Again no surprises, classic 4) ordered a side of char siu, but it was not available. A nice go-to if you're hankering for classic Hawaiian on a Thurs or Fri.

Top Restaurant is…read moretucked into a small, rundown shopping center on Colorado Blvd in Pasadena and from the outside you'd never guess what's waiting inside. This is my third visit and every single time it delivers. This is an Indonesian/Hawaiian restaurant -- and a seriously impressive one. The menu spans both worlds, and no matter which direction you go, you're in for something special. Take out only, no tables, but trust me -- you won't care. The 4 Piece Indonesian Fried Chicken with rice is an absolute must. Some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. The crust is insanely crispy, the seasoning is perfect, and the Indonesian dipping sauce ties it all together in a way that's completely unique. This alone is worth the drive. The Hawaiian plates are equally impressive. The short ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, the beef and chicken were perfectly marinated -- sweet, savory, and deeply flavorful. Everything comes with rice and a creamy mac salad, and the Hawaiian Sun drinks (Mango Orange and Strawberry Lilikoi) are the perfect companion to wash it all down. Plates run between $16-$20 but the portions are generous and the quality is exceptional -- you absolutely get your money's worth. The owner and cook are extraordinarily welcoming, and everything comes out hot and fresh every single time. Top Restaurant is a hidden gem of the highest order. If you're in Pasadena, make the trip.

From the photos and reviews, the place…read morelooked pretty run-down, so I figured it might just be one of those local hidden-gem type spots. Even after arriving, I almost changed my mind about ordering because the plaza itself looked very old and rough. I brought my girlfriend with me, and she was actually the one who said that since we were already there, we might as well try it. The restaurant is basically takeout only, and the inside is very simple and worn down. That said, the person taking our order was extremely friendly, which made the experience much better right away. After checking Yelp, I decided to order the Indonesian fried rice, BBQ chicken, and fried chicken. The fried rice was easily the highlight. I got it spicy, and it had a nice kick that made it feel more special. I'm not sure if this is part of the Indonesian style, but there were little bits of noodles mixed into the fried rice, which made it unique and really tasty. It also had a generous amount of meat inside, and the portion was huge. It was probably one of the best fried rice dishes I've had recently. The BBQ chicken was solid too. It had that tasty Hawaiian-style plate lunch feel, came with mac salad, and was seasoned well. The fried chicken was a little mixed for me. The crispy outside was good, but the chicken itself had a slight off taste, like it didn't feel as fresh as I hoped. Not terrible, but definitely not my favorite item. Overall, Top Restaurant surprised me in a good way. The place itself is very no-frills, but the fried rice alone makes it worth coming back. I'd definitely return for that.
