We ordered takeout for lunch and my coworker put me on to Aloha Hawaiian BBQ, so of course I had to see what the hype was about! Being fairly new to the Fishers area, I did a quick review scroll (as a yelper does lol) and went in with high hopes... and let me tell you, they did NOT disappoint! First off, the menu? Solid. So many options it almost stressed me out, in the best way! I finally landed on the Aloha Special Plate with Hawaiian BBQ Chicken + Chicken Katsu, upgraded my rice to fried rice, and it also came with the mac salad and veggies. Now when I opened that container... BABY. The portions?! Generous is an understatement. They did not come to play! The BBQ chicken was sweet, savory, and full of flavor. The chicken katsu? Crispy, golden perfection. Like... exactly what you want it to be. The macaroni salad was also hitting... creamy, flavorful, no complaints there. Only thing that fell a little flat for me was the rice, it just needed a bit more flavor. But honestly, everything else made up for it. 1 star. I spoke with the owner and explained that I would not be bringing the food back that evening. It was late, I was home for the night, and I told him I would try to return within the next day or two. When I returned, the owner was not there. I was informed that I would only receive one-third of my money back. Since I had eaten only the rice and vegetables, I requested a 50% refund. Those items were listed on the menu at approximately $7, while my total bill was $18.52. Given that I had been asked to make a second trip back to the restaurant, my request seemed more than reasonable. The meats were still in the container... even the parts I attempted to chew but had to spit out. (Gross, I know!) The manager stated that he would need to call the owner for approval. After speaking with him, the owner instructed the manager to refund the full amount of my meal. The manager then pulled out the cash but proceeded to take several phone orders and serve another customer who was waiting for food--all while I stood there waiting for him to hand me my refund. He kept saying, "One moment." After patiently waiting, I finally asked, "Is there a problem?" He replied that there wasn't, but then began typing another message into his translator app. At that point, he informed me that while he would refund my money, I was no longer welcome to eat at the restaurant. I was absolutely appalled, but simply responded, "Okay." I have no interest in supporting a business that neither values its customers nor stands behind the quality of its product. Fortunately, there are plenty of other places to eat. He then added that because no one else had complained about the meat being tough, he did not believe that it was. I accepted my refund... all $18.52 of it... and left. I will never return, and based on this experience, I would encourage others to think carefully before patronizing this business. read more

The mac is the only thing I would get again. The spam musubi was good, but lacked some flavor. The barbecue chicken also lacked a lot of flavor. The sauces definitely helped, but I was hoping it would have more of that Hawaiian BBQ flavor. The chicken was also a little chewy. I would have liked a larger portion of rice, but that is more of a personal preference. We ordered pick up, so experience inside is limited. From what we saw, it was very reminiscent of island decor. I love Hawaiian bbq, so I was excited to see Aloha open in Fishers. The shop is cute, in a little strip mall decorated in palm trees with a tropical vibe. You can order online, at a kiosk or at the counter. Meals come with Mac salad (my favorite), rice and steamed veggies. I got the Crispy Shrimp meal. Food came out fairly quickly. The shrimp were piled high and were large with a crispy breading. The veggies were a mix of steamed broccoli and cabbage. They have sauces that you can add including teriyaki. The Mac salad was just ok, not as tangy and sweet as I remember in Hawaii. Then there were two scoops of white rice. The clerks are friendly and efficient. The dining room is clean with about a dozen tables. The place filled up quickly over lunch. I've heard the spare ribs are delicious, so I'll try those next visit. I am so excited to see a new Hawaiian BBQ spot in Indy. Aloha Hawaiian BBQ is located in a strip on allisonville road. When you enter you see two kiosk for ordering. You can choose to dine in or carry out. I opted to dine in. That have a decent amount of seating and I was starving. They have a large menu with your traditional Hawaiian BBQ options are well as traditional Asian dishes to choose from. I decided to start with the spam musubi. The spam wasn't as grilled as I would've preferred. I love then the spam is a little charred these were under grilled in my opinion. For my entree I went with the Aloha pick two, BBQ beef and the Island Fire Chicken and I upgraded my rice to fried. The meats were delicious but the island fire chicken stole the show. It was so good and just the right amount of spice. The beef was thin and flavorful. I think next time I'll go with white face to avoid the up charge as I didn't notice any flavor in the rice. It was also served with a salad that I believe is tossed in a ginger dressing very good. Overall service was fast the restaurant is clean and the food is delicious. I can't wait to come back. I wanted to give this place a five star because it's hard to find Hawaian food outside of Hawaii. We traveled from northeast Indiana to give this place a try at lunchtime. When you enter the restaurant you can order from the iPad or order from the cashier. We thought it would be easier to order from the iPad. I went with the barbecue plate which pretty much had everything. When I went to check out, the tip screen came up and my goal was not to give a tip because it was a counter service where you get your own food and bus your own trays. On the screen for tips there's no option for zero unless you press other tip so I went ahead and didn't press anything and press continue. I was surprised to be slapped with a 9% default tip. I feel that this is the restaurant up charging people without them realizing it because the tip screen at default should be zero. This is the main reason why I subtracted from the star rating. It just is a very shady way of doing business. The food took a little to prepare for our party of six. We did find that the food was tasty and large generous portions. We did drink a lot of water afterwards so maybe there was a lot of sodium or MSG flavoring in the food. If the owner is reading this, you really should change your practice on the iPad. There should not be a 9% service fee/tip because there is no service basically being rendered except for the food being cooked. read more

This is a relatively new location. I ordered pickup and it was ready before it was scheduled when I arrived. It looks like if you order in the restaurant you will have to order on a tablet and wait. There were many people eating at tables on a Friday evening. We tried the spam musibi, egg rolls and two entrees. The spam was great. The egg rolls were alright. I tried the fried shrimp and chicken katsu. The breading on both was really good but I thought the chicken was dry. The salad was nice and i opted for fried rice in place of white. My daughter found this place and we went for dinner tonight. The place looks new, very clean, well light and nice esthetics. There are a descent amount of options. I tried the Hawsiian Bbq mix plate special with grilled bbq chicken, kalbi beef short ribs, Bbq beef that comes with 2 scoops of white rice and macaroni salad on boiled cabbage and broccoli. I changes my white rice to fried rice for slight upcharge. The macaroni was the creamiest I've ever had. All the meats are sliced very thin and grilled. I preferred the chicken. I got teriyaki and katsu sauces. I like the katsu sauce that is sweet with heat at the end. I also had a side of spring rolls. I tasted my daughters katsu chicken. I liked it the best but it is fried... of course and that is not as healthy as grilled but oh I love the churchy texture :) Everything was good, you get a good amount of food for the cost, that is a definite plus. There is not a lot of flavor in the food itself so the sauses are needed. I probably wouldn't go back out of my way just to go here again, as it's about 30 or so minutes away but the traffic is so bad right now it would be at least 45 minutes. Looks like they kept most of the same things as Mark Pi previously had with some upgrades (mobile ordering machines). A decent turn out for their opening although it was chilly and rainy. We got the spam musubi, teriyaki chicken and fried rice. A very nice casual dining experience. I was pleasantly surprised upon trying this new restaurant. I frequented the previous business a few times and was excited to see Hawaiian bbq opening in my area. To my knowledge, it may be the only option for this in the Indy area. The food was truly excellent. I will say, the portions are massive. I am a really good eater and couldn't finish my Aloha Plate. I thought the mac salad was pretty typical, the fried rice was worth the $1.50 upgrade, but the island Fire chicken was phenomenal. It had so much flavor and the perfect amount of heat. I was not a huge fan of the spam masubi, but this was my first time trying it so I don't have a great baseline. You get a lot of flavorful food here for the money. I had a chiropractor appointment one morning in Fishers and I noticed a new Hawaiian BBQ place just opened two stores down from my chiropractor's office, so I figured I should check it out for lunch. Aloha Hawaiian BBQ is a nice, big space for the restaurant. They have a very colorful, beach style ambiance that makes you feel like you are in Hawaii. You can place your order at the front of the restaurant at the kiosk for take out or dining. The menu is on large big screen TVs for your review as well. The woman who assisted me was very nice and took care of my order. I ordered the Hawaiian BBQ aloha plate which came with a side of macaroni salad, mixed veggies, and two scoops of white rice. The Hawaiian BBQ chicken was good and smokey, which I like, but it did lack some flavor. The macaroni salad and mixed veggies were very good. The rice was Ok. For my first time taking out food, it was good, but I will dine in next time and try something else new just to get the full experience. I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent quality of the food -- the flavor in the short ribs was perfect (not overly sweet) and the meat was tender.
