Well like a lot of restaurants on Maui.....this one is right on the beach. The staff.....awesome....the atmosphere.....breathtaking.....the food.....delicious. Sunsets are not to be missed here even though we did....LOL. However we did get to see the beautiful sunset elsewhere. The only problem I had with the place was the flies....that is why we didn't stay to dine in and see the sunset because we didn't want to deal with that all night. Order 3 plates to go...The Aloha Mixed plate, Kalbi plate, and fried noodles. I wasn't too thrilled with the mixed plate. The fried fish and teri beef were both dry and the bbq chicken was ok. Now on to the 4 starts. The Kalbi was excellent. Perfectly cooked and tons of flavor. I'd rank this #2 right behind Kalbee on Oahu. The fried noodles was delicious too! I've been coming here every time I visit Maui and love it. The spicy wings (they have an appetizer or a plate) are still as good as the first time I had them. Had the kalbi beef short ribs this time. Worst food on the island. I've had mixed plates every single day since being in Oahu and Maui, and on the very last day of our trip we decided to go here. View is spectacular, food was disgusting, and service was mediocre at best. I got the aloha mixed plate and everything was dried out and flavorless like they cooked it yesterday and served it to me today. The fish was ok but also overcooked. Chicken and steak were disgusting and old. We waited about a half hour to 45 min for the food to come out so I have no idea why they served us old food. The waitress came back once to check in with us before we had started to eat and refilled our waters and we never saw her again. I had a way better mixed plate at L&L, zippys and bruddah. I've been loving the food at AMP for 20 years now. It's the best place to go with your family that's the most affordable. They have great local food and a nice atmosphere. Their furikake garlic fried are worth a try, but their Hawaiian luau food is where its at. The Lau Lau or Alii Plate will fill your tummy with Luau goodness. read more

After "The Road to Hana" tour, my hubby and I were exhausted and STARVING! We decided to come here for dinner. I had the fish sandwich (catch of the day -- which happened to be swordfish) and some fries. To be honest, I wasn't really impressed - nothing special about the dish. My husband had the Aloha Mixed Plate and said the food was good (particularly the beef) but he wasn't over the moon about it. Since I don't eat meat, my opinion is solely based on the seafood which I wasn't crazy about. If you eat beef or pork, you will probably have a better appreciation for this place. We came here on Tuesday night at the end of June, close to 6 pm. The wait was 30 minutes. It provides self-served cold water while you wait. The parking lot is rather small but we were fortunate to get a space in the lot. There is only outdoor seating. During the 1/2 hour before sunset, the sun can be in your eyes, depending on your seats. But the sunset is gorgeous. We ordered the Upcountry Garden Salad, Loco Moco, Kalua Pork Plate, and the Beachside Mixed Plate, which included teriyaki beef, Kalbi rib, and shoyu chicken. This was enough food for the 4 adult appetites. While the flavor of the Kalbi rib was good, we really don't eat it much of it because it is mostly fat, bones, and tough meat. This was no exception. The salad, Loco Moco, teriyaki beef, and shoyu chicken were decent. But they didn't wow us. The best dish was the Kalua Pork. If you are staying in Kihei, go to Da Kitchen Express. Its meats taste better. The portions are bigger and there is almost no wait time to be seated. The sit down service was semi attentive. read more

We were there for Monday brunch. It's beautifully situated on the water with seating overlooking the ocean. A pleasant 20 minute walk from downtown Old Lahaina. Service was friendly and efficient.The Lilikoi Mimosa was excellent. Being in Hawaii I had to have the eggs Benedict with the housemade spamp And it was very good. The hollandaise sauce was excellent, the eggs were done to perfection and the spamp, well, it's an adventure! The Kalua pork omelette was very generously stuffed although the pork seemed a bit bland. That said, next time I'm in Maui, I would probably eat here again. I came in for breakfast and had a fried moco. Delicious gravy and fried rice! And I totally could have shared it, the serving was so big. Great value for money. One quibble though - the meat patty itself was bland and undercooked. I really like this place because it feels like a place for locals with the affordable prices to fit. The ambiance was balanced with moody tiki torches set along the beach and a perfect sunset place. Finding affordable food in Lahaina is not an easy task. Clearly, Aloha Mixed Plate has been scouted out by others for its low prices and awesome views. My husband and I came here twice, and luckily didn't have to wait either time. Pro tip: come earlier than you might think necessary for any meal. That's what worked for us. Our first meal was breakfast. My husband's omelette was hilariously huge. I had the loco moco. It was tasty, but the gravy was pretty obviously out of a jar. That didn't stop me from eating an embarrassingly large portion of it. We came back for happy hour and dinner another day. The happy hour is awesome. The drinks are stupid cheap. While the mai tai didn't taste like it contained too much alcohol, you always know what you are getting when you order a beer (which is what I did). I got the saimin, which was a huge portion that I had as leftovers the next day. None of the food here was stellar. However, the friendly service, beautiful location, and cheap prices more than make up for any shortcomings. AMP is perfect for those who don't want to hassle with the typical Lahaina scene. read more

We were on the lookout for more of a local hangout and avoid some of the tourist traps. Aloha Mixed Plate was where some of our guides directed us to. The food is inexpensive and relatively good, nothing fancy. We ordered coconut prawns and aloha mixed plates. I really liked my big coconut prawns. The aloha was good as well, but I didn't try the kalbi. The plates came with the standard rice and macaroni scoops. The view from Aloha Mixed Plate is great.
