Kahlua pork is pretty good (haven't had that in a few years though), chicken katsu, Hawaiian plate and the HAUPIA is amazing- smooth and thick. The price is great and the service is full of aloha. Mixed plate gets mixed review from me. Originally I had planned to hit up Mama's Fish House but the exaggerated prices and good reviews threw us over to Aloha's. In hopes of getting somewhat authentic Hawaiian food we were let down to a more mediocre level of seafood. We started off with a platter of fried coconut shrimp, pretty standard but tasty and light. I had ordered the grilled Mahi-Mahi which actually came off a but scored and dry. Good luck on asking for refills here too, yes its busy but I had to ask 3 different people for a refill on my water! We arrived at 9:00pm on 4th of July with about 12 people and they sat us very easily. The service was a little slow, but thats what we get for walking in late with such a large party. I recommend going for LUNCH, not breakfast. The first time we went here we went or breakfast. After leaving I said I was not going to go back, not impressed at all. The hype was too much and the food was subpar. However, we decided to give it another try and went for lunch. Good. Pretty darn good actually for the price. SERVICE: I'm going to preface this review by saying I feel bad for the server who served me tonight, as restaurant was clearly understaffed and she had to wait on what seemed to be an endless amount of tables. That being said, it took about 20 minutes to get our water and about 35 minutes to get our food since sitting down. FOOD: Chow fun was way too oily and had no taste, just tasted like ground pork in oil. 1/5 Aloha mixed plate was underwhelming in terms of flavor, but the chicken and fish were moist so that was good. 2/5 Furikake garlic fries were good but didn't see much garlic. 3/5 Kalua sandwich was GOOD, tasted great, only complaint was the soggy bun and lack of coleslaw. 4/5 Mochiko chicken was good, I enjoyed it. We came here 2 years ago and the loco moco was so amazing I had to eat a second time during our visit. 5 stars for 2 years ago. It has undergone some redesign. I figured it would still mostly be the same. I was wrong. The loco moco now comes on a sizzling platter and it's just wrong. I can appreciate that they are trying to make it upscale and possibly give it a sense of freshness, but they just took two cooked patties and threw it on a sizzling platter that had undercooked onions on it. The rice and Mac salad came on the side. So, no gravy over everything like they used to. So disappointing. On top of that, the server didn't bring my loco moco with everyone else's meals. It came 15 minutes after everyone and she didn't apologize. That just accentuated the disappointment I had once the loco moco arrived. For all the hype this place receives, I was not impressed with the food. 50 minute wait on a Friday night was to be expected so no big deal. Waiting area is tiny and so is parking lot. Not bad, wish they were a bit crispier and had more garlic, but not bad overall. Grilled Mahi Mahi - Dry and overcooked. Additional salt, pepper & lemon juice couldn't save it. Lau Lau - Bland. Flavorless. So sad because I LOVE lau lau. (I had delicious servings a couple days later at the Old Lahaina Luau) Mini Kalbi plate - The dish that saved our meal. Delicious marinade and cooked to perfection. I wish we had just ordered that for our whole meal. One big plus about this place though is that the waiters here are working their tails off. The hostesses were friendly despite the barrage of questions they got from seemingly every guest and servers are running around in every which direction while providing great service. I give it 4 stars for ambience being right on the water. 4 stars for menu with some very traditional Hawaiian foods like lomi lomi, poi, haupia, kalua pork, and lau lau. Love love love AMP! I don't think I can communicate exactly how much I love it. The food is similar to Da Kitchen, i.e. local Hawaiian food that comes plate lunch style. But I think AMP has them beat. I ordered the Shoyu Chicken which comes plate lunch style with two scoops of rice, mac salad, and slaw. It was better than my mom's, but don't tell her that! My boyfriend ordered the Kalbi ribs and loved them. He ordered the same thing at Da Kitchen and said these were better. One of AMP's best assets is their location and view. They are completely outdoors, right on the beach and surrounded by nature. They're in Lahaina at the very far end of Front St. The views are amazing at sunset and you can occasionally hear the music from the Old Lahaina Luau right next door. Pretty good mixed plate! We happened upon this place on a trek to the Lahaina Cannery mall. I wasn't too sure what to expect here but it had nice outdoor seating close to the water. The food was very good, pretty much a mix of loads of different cuisines served on a plate. First plate to come out was the Lau Lau when another server gave it to us. He asked if we wanted another plate and guess what? This server forgets to give us something we requested. Anyways down to the food: Loco moco: it was ok, nothing special to rave about as anyone can make this at home. This dish consist of 2 beef patties, covered with 2 sunny side up eggs and brown gravy with Mac salad and a scoop of rice on the side. Honestly, I could of made this dish. Very simple and easy. Mac salad had a lot of mayo for some reason so that's a negative. Lau Lau: the meat was wrapped in 2 diff types of leaves then steamed. My wife loved it but I wasn't a big fan of it because it was super bland to the point it was to healthy for me to eat. Overall, I don't think I'll come back here. Oh yea, one of the servers must of heard me telling my wife that the food was just ok. The server comes around and says, go to DA Kitchen as its similar food. We came in a few times in a week and weren't disappointed. For breakfast, their hawaiian bread french toast is huge and fried eggs on kalua pork fried rice is super filling and satisfying. For dinner, the kalbi plate is the way to go. @ $16.50 (incl. bland potato mac salad and steamed rice), they're some of the most tender & tastiest Korean short ribs in west Maui. When traveling anywhere, go where the locals go. When the surf shop owner across the street suggests AMP, takes you by the elbow to steer you toward it, then walks with you out of the shop to point out the colorful shed, you know you HAVE to go. Find a seat with a view (which is every seat; c'mon, it's easy) and bask in the glorious smells of breakfast. We got the French toast and Kahlua pork omelette, both of which were delicious. The item that stole the show though was their coffee - they get it from Maui Oma, which is a local roaster right on the island. Unfortunately Maui Oma doesn't sell their coffee in any retail setting, so you should just fill up on as much joe as you can while you're at AMP! read more

We came here based on a recommendation from a local at the condo we stayed at next to the Whaler's. The service was great. The view was nice and the food was very good. The Loco Moco was the best we had tried on Maui. It had fresh beef patties, not frozen hamburger like other places. The garlic fries were worth the trip. We were seated at an outdoor table under a tree with birds singing and had a nice view of the sunset. My son had the galbi plate and it was really good with big pieces of short rib. Aloha Mixed Plate is good at what they do--serving some good Hawaiian food with a smile and a nice view! Both times I went (arrived at 6pm) there was a 10-15 minute wait and then we were seated, ordered, and promptly served. Food comes out fast I think because of the nature of the menu and there are so many people that the line cooks are really put to work. I had the kalbi ribs which were seriously delicious--awesome char, sweet, fatty, and a huge portion! We also ordered a kalua pork plate and the ali'i plate with kalua pork, lau lau, lomi lomi, and haupia. Kalua pork is always a dream when on a fork with a little rice and a little mac salad. But the lau lau really stole the show with an amazing smoky flavor and tenderness. We also ordered the pineapple cake to end the meal. Very good, balanced, sweet dish. Next time, I really would like to try to grilled cheese... it looks amazing on Leoda's bread and with some creamy american cheese. The kid a table over probably thought I was weird for eyeing it but next time it is really a must. Overall, I think the portions are good size and the food is good, traditional food. By the time we left around 7/7:15, it was much busier and a longer wait. I kind of hate waiting so I was glad we came earlier and also we got to enjoy the sunset over dinner. Love this place food is great and reasonably priced. Good place to authentic mixed plate meal, or luau food for lunch. The pineapple burger is juicy and delicious. The cocnut prawns are a lot of people's favorite, and they ARE good, but a little too sweet for my taste. The chow mein is delicious. The alii plate is really great, juicy pig and cabbage, salmon, and lau lau. The macaroni salad is also very good. The Mai Tai is the best one we had on the island, not watered down at all, and if you get there during happy hour, Mai Tais are cheap. Staff was friendly and quick, which is a big help when the line for a table extends out into the parking lot. Wish they didn't use styrofome plates though. Aloha Mixed Plate also holds a special place in my heart because it was the first place to introduce me to Sriracha sauce and POG juice. read more

I am not sure how this place doesn't have 5 stars. First off, this is the most decently priced meal you'll eat in Maui. It's no more than $10 for a plate and drinks are also about $6-7. That in and of itself is worthy of 5 stars! Second, the food is good! Not the best food you can find on Maui, but for the price it's pretty great. I really liked the poke and the chow funn. But what I enjoyed most is the $6 lava flows! Third, you're on the beach. Anywhere you sit on their patio has a front row view of the sand, waves, etc. you're right next door to the luau as well, so if you go for dinner you may be able to hear the luau stories as well. Fourth, free parking! Fifth, the service is good. Don't expect to do anything in Hawaii in a rush (hello, you're on vacation probably!!) but everyone is friendly that I met there. read more
