Well, I can't speak to wether or not it's authentic, I really have no idea lol. But I can speak to it being very tasty. I got naked tuna, on mixed greens with the crunch topping. The greens and the crunch toppings are all fresh and crisp. They don't skimp on amount either. The food was practically bursting out of the bowl. Huge pieces of flavorful veggies. The tuna, also in plentiful chunks, was good too. Tasted very fresh, cool, and juicy. Delivery each time has been fast and friendly, and ordering on their web sight a breeze. My poke tasted a little off, because it had a bitter after taste to it. I ordered online and had soy sauce added. I wanted avocado and crunchy bits added to it, which I selected online, but my bowl was missing those ingredients. My boyfriend also ordered a poke bowl but he liked his, and he had avocado in his poke. Altogether, it took them 25 minutes to get the poke ready... I think Pono Ono and Aloha are roughly the same quality, but there are some minor idiosyncracies that may push you towards one or the other. I've lived so close to Aloha but never gave it a try since many of my friends gave it ratings on the lower end of the spectrum. I am a huge poke fan, and since there aren't that many poke places in Evanston. I decided to give it a try for lunch today. The portions surprisingly were pretty big. I love Evanston, but it lacks all the great restaurants and bars that the city has. I've been dying to try aloha poke since it took over the chicago food scene, but all the locations were too far or inconvenient from where I live. Had a poke bowl for the first time ever today and it was absolutely delicious. I ordered a salmon crunch bowl "little" size for my lunch break. Between ordering and getting my food it felt like a couple of minutes, very quick and tasted so fresh. Such a great healthy option I'm happy I've discovered! This place is so.good. I went on a Thursday and tried to get my husband to go back with me on Saturday. The only reason we didn't go back is there's no indoor seating, which is tough with a baby! But honestly, I can do things without my baby, like EAT POKE BOWLS. I got the crunch bowl with unseasoned Tuna, which was so so delicious. The tuna was great-- big, shiny pieces, and the toppings were so fun and delicious. It was SPICY-- big slices of jalepeno, which was a bit too much for me. Next time (I'll get that bowl again for sure) I'll either ask for easy on the spice, or add some avocado for some extra creaminess to temper the heat. I'm not like, an expert on poke or anything, but I thought this was top notch and fun and really fast and not terribly expensive. I had a poke bowl for the first time in Cali a month ago, so I was excited to find somewhere close to me back home. I've been here twice in the past 5 days. I ordered the big size both times, and as someone who always overestimates how hungry I am, it was the perfect size to where I pretty much demolished everything without feeling 3rd trimester pregnant with a food baby. Not gonna lie, the price was a bit steep for the size, but I'd come back nonetheless. The toppings are super yummy, and the edamame and cruch are my favorites so far. I've gotten samurai sauce, and a mix of the samurai+spicy aioli. Both were good, but I would have liked a bit more sauce overall. The inside of the shop is suuuuper tiny. I thankfully came at off hours and had very short to no wait, but even the first time when there were only 7 people inside, it was sososososo hot waiting in there. They no longer have indoor seating, just the counter where I'd say that maybe 6 people could stand to eat quickly. read more

I have worked in Evanston for 2 years and my work life got substantially better when Aloha came to the neighborhood. Poke is god's gift to man and this small shop really hits the spot with a great menu of options (including the option to just make your own bowl) with great, fresh toppings and the fish is really, really good. The one caveat I'd give you is beware the option for delivery. We've struggled with this a couple times--the order was almost an hour late, you call and can't get any to answer the phone, the order is not perfect and sometimes just very wrong. Glad to report each time the situation was rectified by the manager very generously but my stance is if you can't handle delivery, don't offer it. I'll still eat your food. I couldn't be happier that this gem is now in Evanston. Fast, healthy, delicious. I got mine "all the way" or 303 I believe is the term. They load up the marinated tuna, especially if you go light on rice. Make sure to try different sauces. Wasn't a fan of the Japanese citrus ranch but I loved the wasabi, and sesame. It was very Lucious and favorable down to the last bit. There was just enough spice to where it wasn't overwhelmingly spicy; not where it killed my palate. I love the balance of edamame to give it texture and that sauce that just is mind-blowing...sweet and spicy. This may be my go to spot when I need that sushi in a bowl/salad lol. This place opened across the street from me so my daughter and I tried it for dinner. She ordered a small and I had a large. Hers was rice, toppings and plain tuna, mine was toppings, marinated tuna and greens. Everything was very tasty but we were both still hungry afterwards. The small has 1/2 cup of rice, plus fish. The large has a handful of greens. Frankly mine really felt like an appetizer. So two appetizers for almost $19 and we still felt the need to eat afterward. Have only tried two poke places so far (one other in NYC) so I can only compare to that. This was very satisfying and much better than my first poke, but also a lot more expensive. You pay for the size of the bowl and can add as many of the ingredients you want. I wish the amount of fish could be more, but part of me didn't actually even realize I didn't have fish in half of my bites because the rest of the ingredients were top notch. They give a generous portion of all the ingredients on top of the rice (lots of edamame, which my kid devoured, lots of "crunch" - which made the whole poke bowl 10x better, and huge chunks of avocado, lots more than I expected when I added avocado). Would definitely get this again, but would have to come on a less hungry day and share with a friend. read more

We had a great meal here. Its basically a design your own poke bowls in a fast food setting. This restaurant is in the heart of Evanston right near a large parking garage. The bowls come in three sizes. You select your protein, rice or greens, main ingredients and sauce. The ahi tuna was fresh and delicious. Pricing is very reasonable. Great lunch place. And the poke bowls were made within minutes. The miso soup was so-so and needed more flavor, but definitely come here for the poke bowls as they are amazing! I highly recommend this restaurant.
