Asked to leav off the really hot dressing and he did, GAve us a couple of small free samples which were great. I'd go back again in a second. I was then informed they were too busy to take and order and to use the website. When I tried to explain that I couldn't, he told me it's because I'm too far away for delivery. Aloha Poke is awesome, although this was my first Poke experience so perhaps I'm biased! But I felt like it was a good value, given that you can add a wide selection of toppings for no added cost! Additionally the amount of fish in the bowl was definitely more than you would get with a typical sushi roll or two. My wife and I split the Kahuna bowl and it was plenty sufficient as a meal for both of us. read more

I go here like, 0.5-1 times per week. It's probably my most frequented restaurant in Evanston because I just walk up, get greeted by that DANK poké smell, order, and get my food all within 3 minutes or so. Longer sometimes on a nice day out when the high schoolers descend on Downtown Evanston (high schoolers evidently love poké). The food is delicious and the quality of the fish is sushi quality. I get the marinated salmon, every time, on white rice. Sometimes I bring my bike in when it's a day I'm stopping by on my way back from work and they never complain. There's no seating, but in the warmer part of the year, you have the beautiful plaza outside! What a gem of a place and you can't help but appreciate the minimalism. No frills. I just tried Poke for the first time. I have to say that I was extremely happy! It is really like a sushi bowl and has all the great flavors that you crave when you crave sushi. I ordered online and picked it up. It was ready as soon as I got there, which was awesome. I ordered the 16 oz and for me it was too much. I would have been perfectly satisfied with the small 8oz size. I got the crunch bowl with marinated tuna and I also added wasabi sauce (for me this really took it to the sushi bowl level, which was what I wanted). In my opinion there was A LOT of tuna in my bowl and I didn't ask for extra. All the flavors are spot on and I will definitely come back! Thanks for a great first poke experience! This place has very poor customer service!!! The cashier showed very poor manners; had a serious staring problem and didn't explain how the menu works. Poke is fairly new to Chicago and it would be very beneficial to explain or even ask if there are any questions regarding the menu. The food was just okay, not even average. Friendly staff, fresh, healthy, light, and fast food. I've tried different things, tofu, both fish, the extra yummies and it was all fresh and fun to eat. The service is fantastic. Staff is friendly, they had patience to answer all my questions the fist time I was there, even let me try stuff. They welcome you with a smile and give you an overall welcome feeling. Love it -- so happy to have another lunch option! Since I work nearby, I love coming here for a quick lunch I can take back to my desk or break room. It hits the same cravings I have for sushi with a lower price tag, higher quality and faster turnaround time for my order. It looks stupid crowded during the weekday lunch hour, but the line goes by way faster than you'd think -- it just looks bad because that's how small the storefront is. There's theoretically seating in the form of a small counter with stools, but it's so tiny I really wouldn't actually want to eat there. Definitely worth checking out! read more

So happy this is in Evanston! Poke is a great healthy and tasty food, and this did not disappoint. We went in on a Saturday for a quick and light lunch and it was perfect. I like that they have a good variety of sizes and flavors, and that you can either pick their preselected flavors or build your own bowl. The ahi tuna with the crunch bowl was really good. Pretty good prices too. Only downside is there really isn't room to eat in here. They only have a small counter that you'd have to stand at. There are places right outside you could eat at which worked out for us because it was still warm enough, but in general you'd have to get this to go. Great quick lunch place! read more

I went to the Evanston one recently. I have lived in Hawai'i and I can assure you this is not poke, but a sushi salad at best. The fish was not marinaded just seasoned. The greens had obviously been stored for a while, dry inside. One thing I think should concern more people is also the plastic waste. This company offers no reusable service ware alternatives, even if you eat right there. If you want to try poke and cannot make it to Hawai'i, you are better off buying it at the supermarket where you have a better chance at having it properly prepared, or just go to a sushi restaurant. read more

The girl at the front counter was extremely unpleasant to begin with then she read back my order (much appreciated) but when I got my food it was wrong! I came back in and explained I had not ordered what I was given..had not touched my food and she wouldn't give me a new bowl free of charge. Very disappointing. Raw fish is great when prepared by a sushi chef. It's not great when prepared in a Chipotle-like environment. The fish is just chopped into squares and dropped in with a mix of ingredients, similar to what places like Freshi do with bowls. I've tried a few bowls and none of them were anywhere near as good as sushi. This is one instance where charging more for raw fish is not warranted. read more

I love this little poke place. Wondering what to order for lunch? You can order like me if you'd like: big (medium) bowl, brown rice, naked tuna, cucumber, pineapple, crunch, seaweed, avocado, and samurai sauce. That right there is a tasty bowl. After all of the positive reviews, I was ready to be wowed by this place. To me, it had a really strange feel when I walked in...high counter on the left, behind which they prepare your bowls, standing counter on the right (no one was eating inside) and a cashier straight ahead. I ordered a large with marinated tuna, cucumber, avocado, crunch, jalapeños and brown rice. I don't think my tuna was marinated because it had hardly any taste...and they put edamame on it which I didn't order. They gave me a little tiny thing of dressing (sesame vinaigrette) which I thought was overly sweet. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing? read more
