I've always been impressed with how well trained and friendly the young staff is at the Kailua location. The only time I had a mixed customer service experience was the one time I tried to do curbside pickup because I had my two young kids in the car and the guy who brought the food out to the designated pickup spot out front seemed ticked off at having to bring the food to the car. We love their salads, wraps, grilled cheese and tomato bisque plus the pita bread with every order. I do wish the salads weren't so expensive but I know they are using fresh ingredients. read more

I didn't have big expectations when entering Aloha Salads (no offense... I was just craving a yummy salad!). As soon as I saw the menu, I immediately knew what to order: Big Island Beet Salad because it has all of my favorites: beets, mangos, nuts with vinaigrette dressing. I added chicken because I was super hungry. I'm usually picky when purchasing salad in this way so I actually skimmed through the glass window (in front of the ingredients) to make sure everything seemed fresh. I had the Aloha Passion salad. It had Mix greens, mango, apples, red grapes, cranberries, bleu cheese, candy walnuts, passion orange vinaigrette . I also added steak. It came with flat bread which was a good way to finish off the salad. The salad was fresh and tasty. The dressing was light and refreshing. Always my goto for lunch when im in the area.... Caesar salad with steak is it... Im sure the other selections are great but this is my personal fave... You can taste the anchovies in the caesar dressing , very legit... Them girls and the head guy there obviously take a lot of pride in what they do because its delicious and the best quick salad spot hands down.... Really good salads but watch out for the male cashier. He didn't had a name tag so I didn't get his name. He didn't give me my receipt and my change. I ask for my receipt and my change and he walked away. Yes it was my fault I ignored too but I didn't appreciate how he kept the change and didn't have me receipt. I didn't like being ignored. The salads taste great but seriously 2 shrimps for a $9 salad? That is far beyond stingy for a Hawaiian based company. It's all about good portions here. One of our weekly regulars but they really dropped the ball tonight. Ran out of pita bread that ordinarily comes with the salad and soup, and rather than offer anything in place of that or knock something off the price as a gesture, there were crickets. There wasn't even disclosure of the missing pita. The customer had to check the bag. Please try harder. read more

Covid has changed the ambiance of the place, but the food has not changed still as delicious as the first time I went to Aloha Salad over 8 years ago. I had the chicken pesto sandwich and it was dripping deliciousness! I have had aloha salads before and I love their salads. It was a busy night heading home from work and I thought I'd grab a quick dinner. We stopped by the Kailua location it looked empty compared to their neighbors so I thought great, no wait. There was 2 people in front of me by the time I walked in. There was 3 staff members working and they seemed super busy. One was on register the other walk directing orders to what looked like a newbie, meanwhile he was trying to balance a bunch of orders. With the 2 people in front of me it took about 30 minutes for me to get my salad. That's a loooong time. I'm not sure if there were preorders or what was going on but it took forever. Nobody said anything to us about the wait or why it was taking so long, I would have been fine with it had I known what was going on. Then finally I got my $18 salad. I asked for extra dressing because there never seems to be enough on the Caesar salad and I purchased extra protein so I was ok with paying this price. Time to eat. Started munching away at my salad... Saw a hair in my food. For most people that's an immediate ew, give it back so nasty -- BUT I understand, in food service it Does happen it's inevitable and I was ok with pulling it out and continuing to eat. (After looking at the staff members and the hair I am able to identify who's hair it was) Kept eating... ANOTHER darn hair. Hmm ok. 2 is not quite the charm, especially in the same salad. These are like 3-4 inch hairs not small bitty pieces. Looking at my husband I was already like ok I think that's enough, my appetite was ruined I'm going to go talk to them inside. But they kept getting customers and I didn't want to be that person. I would've rather addressed it privately. I kept poking around in my food. Yes you guessed it, ANOTHER HAIR! Which prompted This long review. I don't do this ? I love local businesses, love to support local, and truth give the benefit of the doubt but in summary :2 people in line = 30 minute wait :3 hairs found in food (yes, the 3rd hair prompted the review ) :paid $18 to get my appetite ruined I would love to update this review because I love your salads, but I think some of your staff members may need to use hairnets or some kind of practice that helps keep the hair out of the food. read more

I ordered a large custom salad tonight and it was excellent. Great portion size and the ingredients were very fresh. The steak and shrimp were cooked fresh to order. I really liked the balsamic dressing too. Beyond the salad, though, the manager tonight was awesome. A lady before me placed a huge order, about $100, that took about 10 minutes to place because of customizations. The manager was apologetic and made sure to get my salad out asap despite her slowing the dinner rush down. Great service, I'll definitely be back! read more

I ordered two paniolo salads. One large with steak, one small without, one shrimp and spinach and one small ahi salad. Totall = $44.00 and some change. Wtf! I kinda was hesitating to hand over my money contemplating cancelling my order. But I gave in because it was recommend by my wife. There was only one complaint from my daughter's ahi salad about the coconut. Said it kinda threw off the salad. Other than that and the price there's no other complaints. Customer service was good. They were friendly and smiles so I guess its better than smirks. Would I go back? I honestly dont think so. I know im trying to eat good on my wife's insistence but shit! $44.00? That's a lot of money for just frickin salads. Update: 9/02/13 I know I said I wouldn't but I did give them another chance with the insistence from my wife and I have to say I'm glad I did. I didn't want a salad only to be hungry 45 minutes later so I opted for the tomato basil soup and the italian sub. Tomato basil really hearty and creamy. With the melted parmesan and broken pieces of the pita bread mixed in it became a meal in itself. The italian sub with three different cold cuts and the melted provolone cheese was a perfect match with the soup. Both were very good. I would highly recommend the soup. I immediately pictured myself half-heartedly chomping on a giant bowl of lettuce leaves. Needless to say, I was completely surprised to come home to a steak wrap instead of rabbit food. As it turns out, while Aloha Salads does sell salads (as their name indicates), they also sell a variety of sandwiches and wraps and soup - perhaps for those like me who aren't completely sold on the idea of a salad as a meal. The steak wrap was tasty, as was the curried chicken wrap (although it was a bit on the sweet side for my taste). The aloha tuna sandwich and roasted turkey sandwiches were also good. Staff was very friendly. And the orders were prepared fairly quickly despite the shop being very busy. The shop itself is rather small - not really conducive for eating in. If you want some salad but don't want to left feeling hungry afterwards Aloha Salads is a great place to get filled up with a healthy meal. We've been here several times now and recommend the Paniolo Salad and the Aloha Passion Salad but don't forget to add steak! If you decide to add grilled steak you should know it's cooked medium (in case you're expecting or have small teething babies to feed). After having the good ol' Paniolo Salad on several occasions a girl that works here told me that the most popular salad is the Aloha Passion Salad. This salad contains diced mango, halved grapes, diced green apple, sweetened walnuts, BLUE CHEESE (this ingredient is really the turning point of whether you will like this salad or not). I love blue cheese so naturally it complemented the flavor of the steak I added which in turn took the entire meal up a notch. This amazing salad did it all for me, with the toasted soft bread it brought me full circle and my foodie night was complete. :) P.S. There is a really friendly guy here that's always smiling I wonder if he has ever frowned before. Lol. You will know exactly who I'm talking about whenever you walk through the door! read more

I love the Caesar with kale but whatever you get you should add seared ahi .. fish is easy to mess up but they make the perfect black and blue seared ahi, well seasoned, soft, nice char. I'm honestly really impressed with the quality of the fish for it being a grab and go place. Prices are fair; portions are filling and they don't skimp on the protein. I used to work at a place that served the same thing I ordered (Caesar + ahi) and it was $32. From here, it was $18 and the portion was much larger, tastes the same. Also i ordered on Uber eats bc I like to live my best life and I don't know if it was a fluke or slow time ...but I swear from the time I ordered, it was on my doorstep within 15 minutes. read more

Got home to find the grilled cheese was oily AF and the cheese looked like it was just placed inside with no melt whatsoever. Wtf right. I looked past that and opened the soup next which was great. Then I went to the salad where there was literally a tiny cup of dressing. I'm talking so little dressing that after mixing it in the salad was so dry that it was like I was eating straight lettuce. You would think that a large salad should have ample dressing so you can at least taste some Cesar dressing. Needless to say I only ate half the sandwich and took 2 bites of that dry AF salad and tossed the rest. PHOTOS on YELP showed chicken chunks , mine was a small piece partially sliced. AGREE WITH THOSE COMMENTS ABOUT THE VEGIES - OLD, WILTED WHAT IS SO HARD ABOUT CHECKING YOUR COMMODITY DAILY??? Delicious!! So far every time I've been here ( and I've been here a lot!!!) it has been perfect! I used to get the Kamuela Cobb but recently I switched to the Ono Island Ahi and have never changed since. A great fresh salad with everything you could ever imagine! The ahi is yummy because it's seasoned well. Definitely would come here more if I could afford to spend $13 on a salad everyday. Another plus is the workers are really nice! read more
