Both are separate businesses but you could get your pizza served to you at the bar. Als pizza sells only pizzas, which kind of makes it great that way. Ingredients in the pizza taste original and fresh. They don't carry and sides, but the bar next door sells food too. We went on a Friday and it was packed. The only thing I could complain about is the fact the crust was flimsy and the bacon undercooked. As far as best in the area, it depends on what you consider the area to be. Ach n Lous in Aurora has the same taste with a more crisp crust. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I come all the way from Seattle and take my family there. It always been a lovely, fun. NOT ANY MORE. Sadly. The place I've been going to since 1962, is no longer a tradition. I'm a fan. Great pizza! The atmosphere is low key (very low). The service.. well it reminds me a little of the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld. They are passionate about the quality of their pizza. I saw this place on "Chicago's Best", realized that it was under 20 minutes from me in the western suburbs ... so, I had to try it. It appears to be a cash only take out joint. Although, there's a bar or space next door if you want to sit down and eat. My pizza was almost cold when I got home with it (my fault ... I was late); but, everyone loved it regardless. The crispy pepperoni, crust, amazing sauce and fresh ingredients all came together for some perfect bites. We had sausage (which I believe was homemade), pepperoni, black olives, onion and mushroom. What I really liked about this pizza is that it wasn't too filling or overloaded with crust and cheese. So, you can enjoy six pieces without feeling stuffed. Yet, it was completely satisfying and delicious. I love that they put the pepperoni on the top to get crisp. I am pretty picky about pizzas being from Chicago. This place makes a great pizza. My favorite pizza in the world...everything else pales by comparison. I was born and raised in Warrenville, and we would order pizza from Al's when Al Kreminski was making it. In those days he also made Italian beef sandwiches and they did food deliveries. One time someone pranked us by ordering a pizza to be delivered. When they delivered the pizza we happily paid and sat down to eat it, later realizing none of us had actually ordered it! At my father's wake, we considered having him buried with a slice in his hand! It is just the perfect combination of sauce, thin crust, carmelized cheese, and high quality sausage. Overnighting in a local hotel from out of town, we read reviews and were keen to try this place. Went there, entered via main door through the kitchen and went to small dining room in back. I don't know where the bar is that another reviewer mentioned. It wasn't clear how you order so I asked on of the guys in the kitchen who was making pizza. He told me to order there and to do it quick; the wait for a thin crust, eat in pizza was an hour and 20 minutes. No pizza is worth a wait that long IMHO so we left.
